Lucky made it to Liz's house, but not before making a stop on his way
there.
He made it up to her front porch and rang the bell. A few seconds
later Liz
eagerly opened the door. All she could do was smile, there was
Lucky
standing beofre her holding a dozen long stem white roses.
Lucky: These are for you (handing the flowers to Liz)
Liz: (takes the flowers and smells them) Lucky, they're beautiful
Lucky: And you still put them to shame
Liz smiles and blushes as Lucky comes into the house. AS soon
as he is in,
Lucky takes Liz in his arms and kisses her with all his desire for
her
Liz: Wow! What was that for?
Lucky: I missed you and I just wanted to touch you. (pause) Ok
so where is
my surprize?
Liz: What you cant wait?
Lucky: Elizabeth I have been racking my brain to figure out what
it is since
I broght you home.
Liz: Ok ok, come on, its in my room
Liz took Lucky's hand and led him up the stairs to her room. Once
at her
room Liz opened the door and went in. Lucky just stood at the
doorway
looking around.
Liz: Lucky, you ok?
Lucky: Yeah, I just didn't realize how much I missed this place.
Lucky came all the way in the room and sat down on Liz's bed next to her.
Liz: I actually have two surprizes for you, but before I give
them to you I
just wanted to say thank you.....for last night.
Lucky: You dont have to thank me
Liz: Yes I do. Not only did you come back to me and give
me the best prom
night ever, you gave me something even more special.
Lucky: What?
Liz: Peace. When we made love last night, you took all my
pain and shame
away. You healed me.
Lucky: No Elizabeth, I didn't heal you. You healed yourself,
I was just
there with you by your side. And as much as last night meant
to you, it
meant that much more to me. I love you.
Liz: I love you too.
Liz and Lucky kiss and hug. They hold each other for a few minutes
before
Lucky pulls away.
Lucky: Ok now I am getting impatiet
Liz: Ok I think you have waited long enough.
Liz got up from the bed and walked over to her dresser. She opend
her
jewelery box and pulled something out of it. She then went back
to the bed
and sat down next to Lucky.
Liz: The night of the.....fire when I got to the bike shop, I
kept saying it
was not you. I cold not let myself beleive it. Even when
they broght the
body out I would not believe it. Then....(starts to cry) Detective
Taggert
came up to me and aked me if I would look at something. When
he showed me
what he had.....I still would not believe it, but then he told me it
was......(crying harder) found on the body. Then I knew it to
be true
becuase I knew you would never take it off.
Lucky: My subway token
Liz: Yeah. I had to give it back to Taggert so he could
have it for
evidence. But about two weeks after the fire he gave it back
to me.
Lucky: I remeber when Fasion's man pulled it off of me, it was
like my heart
was being ripped out of my chest. (tears in his eyes) Sometimes
at night I
would find myself reaching for it and then I would remeber that I did
not
have it.
Liz: I want you have it again. When I gave it to you the
first time I told
you that you were the keeper of our dreams and I still want you to
have that
keepership. It was burned pretty bad, but I cleaned up as best
I could and
then I took it to the jewelers and they shined it up good as new.
Liz takes the subway token and puts it aroud Lucky's neck and then places
her
hand on his chest over the token
Liz: Now its back were it belongs.
Lucky: Thank you
Lucky pulls liz to him and kisses her very passionatly. Liz runs
her hand
through Lucky's hair as Lucky holds her close to him. Liz then
pulls away
Liz: Are you ready for you next surprize?
Luxky: You know it
Liz: Ok well this one you have to close you eyes for.
Lucky: Are you serious?
Liz: Yes! Do it, close your eyes.
Lucky does so and Liz goes over to her closet pullng out Lucky's surprize.
She then walks back over to him and standing in front of him with the
surprize.
Liz: Ok, you can open your eyes.
Lucky opens his eyes and gasps. He cant believe what he was seeing.
He
remembers his mother telling him nothing could be salvaged from the
fire.
How was this possible?
CHAPTER 14
Liz knew Lucky was in complete shock over her surprize. She saw
is eyes
begin to tear up. She knew he never expected to see his guitar
again. There
was a moment of silence as Lucky just gazed at the guitar.
Liz:(tears in her eyes) Lucky, you ok?
Lucky: (tears falling down his face) How? My mom told
me everything was
lost.
Liz: The day that Taggert gave me back your necklace he also gave
me this.
He told me that when he was in your room he saw it in the corner and
he knew
it must have been special so he brought it to me. It was not
damaged too
bad. There was some sut on it, but mostly it was water damage.
So I took it
to the intrument repair shop on 8th street. They cleaned it up
and restrung
it so it is as good as new.
Lucky: I cant believe it. I never thought I would see it again.
Liz: Sometimes when I was really missing you, which was often,
I would hold
it like you used to. I never touched the strings because well
one I dont
know how to play and I knew if I heard the music it would be too painful.
Lucky is crying and so is Liz. She hands the giutar to him and
he takes it.
Liz then kneels infront of him and puts her hands on his thighs.
Liz: Lucky (he looks at her) Would you sing for me?
Lucky: (wipes his tears away) Elizabeth I havent played or sung
a note in
over a year. My voice has changed and I am not sure I remember
how to play.
Liz: Of course you do. It's just like riding a bike.
You would never
forget. And as for your voice, I am sure it only got better.
Lucky: Elizabeth I.......
Liz: (cuts him off) Lucky please. I missed you singing to me. Please
Lucky: You really need to remind me learn how to win an arguement
against
you.
Liz: Haven't you learned by now that's inpossible?
They both laugh. Liz sits down on the floor indian style while
Lucky remains
on the bed. He takes the guitar and places his fingers on the
strings.
Suddenly everything he thought he forgot came flodding back to him.
He took
a deep breath and began to play. The familar sound of the music
broght tears
back to Liz's face. Lucky then began to sing.

Lucky could barely get the words out, but he sounded beautiful.
Liz's eyes
were fixed on him as her tears poured down her face

Liz: (in tears) Thank you
Liz stood up from the floor and Lucky placed the guitar next to him
on the
bed. Liz wraped her arms around Lucky's neck and he wraped his
own arms
around her back. Both of them holding each other and crying.
After a few
minutes they pulled apart and Lucky began to speak after gaining back
his
composure.
Lucky: That was the best surprize ever.
Liz: I'm glad
Lucky: You know right before we went to New York I started to
write another
song for you. When I got home after dropping you off the night
of the fire I
finished it. It was after we hung up the phone when I put the
finishing
touches on it. I wanted to sing it to the next time we were alone,
(Liz
started to cry again).....But I never got the chance.
Liz: Well we're here now, why dont you sing it to me now.
I would love to
hear it.
Lucky: When I was being held by Fasion, I would sing the song
over and over
in my mind and it helped me.
Lucky picked up the guitar again. Liz stayed on the bed next to
him this
time as he began to play and sing.
I guess the time was right for us to say

As the music fades out Liz and Lucky are again in tears.
Liz: That was......so beautiful Lucky. You're my love of a lifetime too.
Lucky: You're my inspiration.
Lucky stands the guitar up against the bed and pulls Liz towards him
for a
kiss. He starts it out slow but then they both quickly deepen
it. Still
with tears in thier eyes they fall back on the bed and become one with
each
other again.
