Kevin, Lucy, and Tattoos

(At the Lighthouse, a painting that I don't believe we've seen since Kevin was dealing with his obsession about Grace and the accident, rests on the easel. Kevin is leaving for work, Lucy is still in her bathrobe, sadly lamenting her lack of a company.)

K: "I gotta go. I have my first hands-on day of research for the Oxford Twin Study."

L: "Oh well, isn't that swell? You're going to come home gloomier than I am right now."

K: "Your attitude is your responsibility."

L: "Well, what am I supposed to do all day? I mean, I'm used to having a big company to go to and now I don't have anywhere."

K: "I'm sure you'll think of something. You could go shopping? Get your hair done? Take a walk? Get a tattoo."

L: "A tattoo? (Lucy's intrigued) Where would you want me to get this tattoo?"

(Kevin reaches out and pushes up the sleeve of her robe, to demonstrate tattoo location.)

K: "On your forearm, where I could read it. It would say, 'I, Lucy Coe, am resilient, brilliant, creative and Kevin loves me.'"

L: "Oh, Doc... thanks."

(Kisses)

K: "Have a good day. Bye."

L: "Don't go..."

(Kevin leaves. Lucy looks at her forearm.)

L: "That would really, really hurt."

(Later, Lucy calls all over Port Chuck looking for help in getting back Deception)

(Later still, she stops by Kevin's office, but he's in the middle of interviewing two blond dishes Kevin promises to see Lucy later and she agrees.)

(And finally... back at the Lighthouse. Kevin turns on the VCR and watches a videotape of the afternoon's twins interview. He appears to be mesmerized. Lucy walks in and repeatedly says his name, but he seems not to hear her. We hear these lines from the twins on the videotape...)

Twin #1: "I had this strange feeling that there was another place besides where I was that I ought to be."

Twin #2: "For me, it was sort of like being haunted, but by something that wasn't there, if you follow. It was as if when I found Leann (her twin), I found a missing piece of myself."

(Lucy finally gets Kevin's attention by shutting off the tape and standing between him and the TV. Kevin seems to slowly come out of his video-trance and looks up at Lucy, who he sees with long blonde hair! He stares for a moment, then blinks, it's Lucy, but without the blonde hair... He whispers...)

K: "Lucy..." (Kevin stands to kiss her. Clearly, he's got more than a friendly "hello" on his mind...)

L: "What's gotten into you?"

(Kevin smiles and kisses Lucy. He then shoves everything off of the coffee table. Lucy immediately catches his intent and sits on the edge of the table. She leans back and then lies down, holding Kevin's arms for support. Bracing himself with his arms, he leans over her, unbuttoning her blouse. He kisses her face, her neck... And out! When next we see them, looks like Kevin has had the presence of mind to build a fire in the fireplace. Good thing, since they are apparently unclothed. ;-) Lucy rests against Kevin's chest. She purrs...)

L: "Oh my..."

(Lucy seems to be exhausted, but not unhappily so. Her eyes are closed as she snuggles against Kevin, she looks as if perhaps she's ready to go to sleep on Kevin's chest. Kevin is looking off into space. His expression is inscrutable. But he looks almost as if he's not of this time and place any longer...)
