Patch Johnson and Kayla Brady made plans to remarry to make their baby legitimate, when Patch's "dead" wife Marina was killed. After Kayla was arrested for and acquitted of the crime, the two renewed their vows in a touching ceremony. Sadly, just months later, Patch was caught in an explosion meant for Bo. While in the hospital, Patch came out of his coma, only to have his IV poisoned. He later died in Kayla's arms.
