| WALTONS DIGEST 15-99:
Hi everyone, I do hope you are all safe and well. We are heading into the chilly weather here, just as you are heading into your summer. Did anyone go to the May 1st reunion that was mentioned by Dot P I think? How did it go? I have been catching up on some of the season 3 episodes which I hadn't seen for some time. I know that we've talked about it before, but maybe the newer members can have some input into this question. I rewatched with interest "The System" and was wondering how recently this type of thing would have happened. How did the system originate in the first place? I'm a bit like John Boy, and wondered why the onus was on the students to report other students. Why wouldn't the teacher stay in the room and just supervise? Very strange if you ask me. Was it at all Universities or just some? The other thing which struck me was the closing comments by Earl Hamner in "The Runaway". I quote from both the show, and from Arthur's summaries: "I often remember Jim Bob saying to my father - "It's OK, next time I'll make you listen". I wish that it were in the power of all children to say that to their parents, and to know that indeed they would be heard, as we were in those wonderful days on Waltons Mountain". What a wonderful sentiment. The Waltons is absolutely full of little gems like this. I wonder if any of you have a favorite ending. Have a look through the extended summaries which Arthur and Bill have done, and let us know. That's it from me this week. Until next time, Goodnight everyone, Karen.
Dear Karen, HI from Edmonton and grace and I are very sad about Grandma's death. What a great lady!!!! Do you know anything else about this special WALTON movie being planned like will it be all the original people in it??? I just watched the one where Grandma and John Boy went to the university and it was really good!!! Take care and email soon. Keith KAREN'S COMMENT: I believe most of the original cast will be returning in their roles Keith, but as for the extra cast members, I just don't know. I love that John Boy wanted to do something so special for Grandma that he took her to see the Uni.
I love the Waltons and have been confused slightly. I saw a picture of Erin getting married however when the series ended she was not. Just tonight I found out that there were three movies after the series before the latest ones including: A Wedding on Walton's Mountain A Thanksgiving (not sure) on Waltons Mountain And A Mother's Day on Walton Mountains Were all of these TV made movies as the latest ones surrounding John Boy getting married. And who played John-boy in these? Thanks, Dan KAREN'S COMMENT: Erin gets married in A Wedding on Waltons Mountain. All three movies you mention are from 1982 and John Boy was still played by the second John Boy...Robert Wightman. Erin's wedding day comes first, then comes A Mother's Day on Waltons Mountain, where Mary Ellen marries Jonesy, and finally Thanksgiving Day on Waltons Mountain where all of the family return home to celebrate Thanksgiving Day. The later movies were made in the 1990's with Richard Thomas returning as John Boy. They are A Walton Thanksgiving Reunion (1993) which surrounds the JFK assassination, A Walton Wedding (1995) where John Boy finally gets married and A Walton Easter (1997) where John Boy's twins are born.
Hi there Karen, Just a short message to say many thanks to Arthur and everybody else who kept nagging Channel 4 ( I did email them myself). It was blissful this morning to watch The Waltons with no silly T4 and to see and hear the titles at the end. Obviously viewer pressure can work, well done. Alison KAREN'S COMMENT: That is fantastic news Alison. Let's hope they keep it up.
Hi there everyone! I am so excited about being in this list. I think The Waltons was one of the best programs. My name I Susan and I live in California, I have 2 grown kids and 3 grandbabies. I try not to miss the reruns when they are on and any information in TV guides, newspapers, every chance I can get any info on the show in anyway. I recently saw Richard Thomas on Oprah Winfrey talking about the new show that he hosts. Its called "It's A Miracle," on PAXTV, its a weekly series focusing on real life stories of miraculous occurrences. Its on Saturday Nights 900pm Pst. I have watched it and its a great program. I can't wait to hear more about Richard and some of the other cast members as well as the Hammer clan. I guess you can say that Richard Thomas-John Boy was and still is my favorite. I also would like to say I was sorry to hear about the passing of Ellen Corby recently. She was a wonderful actress and will be missed. Thank you Karen for starting this list and I hope we all have fun as we explore the life of the Waltons and the Hamners. Thank you Susan KAREN'S COMMENT: Enjoy being a part of the list.
