WALTONS DIGEST 35-2001:

Hi everyone,

What another busy week here. Finally James has finished his final exams though, and I finished my reports today. Thank goodness!

Happy Thanksgiving for last Thursday too. I hope everyone had a wonderful day, full of family, friends, good food, and of course, The Waltons. Which Waltons did you have on Thursday? There are some terrific Waltons Thanksgiving episodes. Which one do you like best? Let us know for next week. Usually I like where Erin and Paul are having troubles....A Day of Thanks on Waltons Mountain, but having been thinking about it lately, I think I like the one where Jenny makes her second appearance, and John Boy has the accident which causes problems with his eyesight...The Thanksgiving Story. I do have a soft spot for the episodes Jenny is in. :-))

Usually I don't have any Waltons news, given that the show is not currently airing here, however James has been watching some very old episodes of Friends...first season in fact, and sure enough, there are two references to Waltons Mountain. One is the episode where Marcel, the monkey, turns the TV into Spanish, and I've forgotten just what the other one was, but I'll have a look and see if I can find it again. Perhaps one of you knows what it is. It's so nice to pick them up. I really think we should compile them all and put them on the site. It would make fun reading.

I also had an email from the granddaughter of Linda Watkins, who is collecting as many videos of her grandmother's work as she can. She wanted a copy of The Journey. That's the episode with the flashback scenes, with Earl Hamner in them. It was really nice to hear from her. She says that her grandmother is not a well known name, but did a lot of work, which indeed she did. Wonderful actress.

Well I'll talk to you all next week. By then James will have had his formal graduation, which is on Saturday night, so I'll be able to tell you all about it.

Till then, goodnight everyone,

Karen.

Now there is some confusion about what special and even what episodes will be shown during the Waltons Marathon. They say that the special will be the Thanksgiving Story from 1973 rather than Day for Thanks on Waltons Mountain.

Will have to wait until the day to actually find out I guess.

Donald

KAREN'S COMMENT: Oh well, both my favorites so I wouldn't be disappointed!

Hello everyone,

Thanks Donald for the reminder of the Walton's Thanksgiving marathon on TNN this Thursday (Nov. 22)

I also wanted to mention that I made it to and from Toronto, (although getting back took more time that it was worth, due to heavy security) and had a wonderful time! The bus trip down to NYC will have to wait until the next trip. I've been chosen to go to a leadership conference, as a delegate from my college, I'm set to leave in January, and so much looking forward to it! It will be held in Ottawa Canada (Our capital), as well I will be attending world youth day in Toronto in June/July as a chaperone, so getting down to NYC is possible, just not sure when.

I'm enjoying these Walton episodes, and can't wait for the Marathon on Thursday, what fun! I'm heading to Seattle by boat on Thursday night to celebrate the US thanksgiving with friends, so these episodes will be fresh for me.

As for Julia, Mary & me getting together, it will happen soon, just getting through school first, not to mention finals coming up, and church priorities, so we've decided to wait until December. Probably in the midst of holiday cheer (hey, it's a good thing!)

Hope all is well with everyone, and safe travels to all this holiday season!

Goodnight everybody!

~Nicole

KAREN'S COMMENT: I keep forgetting that the Canadian Thanksgiving and the US Thanksgiving are at different times, so very belated greetings to all our Canadian list members. :-)

Hello Karen and All,

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you in the United States. I look forward to the Waltons marathon on Thursday.

Not much as far as Walton sightings, and as far as my crossword puzzle book, nothing as yet, but I just started it.

I did want everyone to know that Ebay is full of Waltons items. There are several CDs, if you don't have the Christmas CD yet and a couple of cassettes too. Also, for those looking for the album that was put out in 1974 there are some of those too.

Videos are all over the Waltons listings on ebay too. Some are going for higher prices than others, but if you need them that is the place to get them. Even the Homecoming is available.

Well, that is all from here. Just thought that since I was on ebay daily, might as well get a few of you to buy Waltons items so we know they are in good hands.

Good Night All, ----Jennifer

Hello Karen and All, I know I have already put something in for this digest, but something cool can up on Ebay. There is a Birthday phone call from Earl Hamner up for bid. If I could afford it, I would be bidding on it, but it is a bit high. Of course, it is for charity.

Anyway, just thought you all would like to know about it.

Happy bidding! ----Jennifer

KAREN'S COMMENT: Thanks for the updates about Ebay. I actually had a look after I got your email. A phone call from Earl Hamner! What an odd thing to auction, but I had a look and so far there's been no bids for it at all. Starting price is $200 and as Jennifer says, it is for charity. Well maybe it would be a great present for someone special. Go have a look. www.ebay.com Do a search for Waltons.
