QUINCY, MA, August 28, 1997 -- "Beakman's World" star, Paul Zaloom, portraying Beakman in the new fire safety public service announcement (PSA) sponsored by the nonprofit National Fire Protection Association and currently being distributed to television stations in the U.S. and Canada. In the 30-second PSA, Beakman uses his wacky style to capture viewers' attention so he can share some serious advice about the dangers of smoke and fire and how to safely escape if there is a fire. The Beakman PSA is the first in a new series of celebrity PSAs being released by NFPA in 1997 and 1998.
