HIStory

He somehow escaped or was released by the scientists and met James and Heather Hudson for the first time. They helped him to recover some of his humanity and he joined Alpha Flight. He worked with Alpha Flight for a while and then left them to join the X-Men.
At this point he goes off on his own for a little while and after being humiliated by Lord Shingen.
He acquires many friends and enemies along the way and battles repeatedly with his arch-enemy Sabretooth. Sabretooth had thought that he was Logan's father, but that was recently proven false by a blood test performed on the two in a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicopter after a battle involving Sabretooth, Cable, and Elsie Dee. Elsie Dee is an android in the form of a little girl who has become Wolverine's friend even though she was sent to kill him. She works with Albert, a cyborg likeness of Wolverine.
Omega Red is another one of Wolverine's worst enemies. He was introduced in the early issues of X-Men. He has Carbonadium tentacles and a "death factor". It is revealed that he is somehow linked to Wolverine's past, and has fought him before, but the details are sketchy at best.
Cyber is yet another one of Wolverine's worst enemies. He was just recently introduced. His skin has been laced with Adamantium and he has claws on the tip of each finger filled with a specialized highly toxic hallucinogen. He is described by Wolverine as "The only one that ever really beat me." Supposedly, in his past, he fought Cyber, and cyber left him for dead.
In the fatal attractions series, Wolverine's life is changed drastically. The X-Men go into space to battle Magneto for the last time after Magneto disrupts the Earth's electro magnetic field. They battle and Magneto rips the Adamantium in Wolverine's bones out through his skin. Professor X takes Magneto's mind away leaving him in a vegetative state. They try to get Wolverine back to Earth so they can revive him. His healing factor cannot keep up with such a grave wound. He is just on the verge of death, when Jean Grey is sucked out the hatch of the jet and is about to die. Wolverine comes back to life and saves her.
They get back to the X-mansion and after sufficient time, Wolverine heals. He decides to test himself in the danger room because he feels he is of no more use to the team. He is doing poorly, when the robots back him into a corner, and it is revealed for the first time that Wolverine's claws were originally bone. At this point he decides that leaving would be best for everyone, and he goes off leaving a touching letter to Jubilee. He has a few adventures on his own and fights Cyber. He then decides to return to the X-Men. He comes back and battles Sabretooth. He pins him against the wall with two of his claws on either side of Sabretooth's head. Sabretooth either doesn't believe Logan will do it, or has a death wish or maybe both. He threatens everyone close to Wolverine, and it seems as if Wolverine pops the third claw, right before the Universe Crystalizes, leaving us wondering what happened.
When we return from Alter-X, we find that Wolverine did pop the claw. Now his Adamantium skeleton, Wolverine seems to be regressing more than ever. He now lives in the woods all of the time. And only talks to a few people when they come to visit him. He does go on a few missions with the team and proves he is still not completely feral. His healing factor seems to be much better than it was before.
He then goes to find out more from Landau, Luckman, and Lake by entering their Warp Chamber. He is lead to the citadel of Apocalypse by Jamil who serves the Shadow King. He ends up getting captured by Genesis and the Dark Riders. Their intentions are to put Cyber's adamantium into him and mind-wipe him turning him into Apocalypse's first Horseman, Death. He gets put into the tank and they begin feeding the Adamantium into him. Meanwhile, Cannonball is trying to find Wolverine to help him. Wolverine starts rejecting the Adamantium feed and they begin using all of the power at their disposal to get the process to work. Cannonball sees what's going on and he tries to help. He ends up getting beaten badly. Wolverine appears to see it happening and suddenly he starts rejecting the Adamantium again. He expels the adamantium through his pores explosively, rupturing the tank and killing two Dark Riders, Lifeforce and Hurricane. Cannonball tries to get Wolverine away and begs him to stop Apocalypse from coming back. Wolverine appears to have dissappeared when the Dark Riders come looking for them. Wolverine kills them all single handedly. It appears that he is no longer human, and to reject the Adamantium, he had to give himself over completely to his animal side. He then goes on to kill Genesis and disappears into the shadows, telling Cannonball to tell Cable he's sorry for killing his son, but there was no other way.
After this Wolverine has become totally feral animal looking.  Higher animalistic senses an paraphernelia (lacks a nose). At that point Elektra, sent by her mentor Stick, steps in to walk him back the path of the warrior. She manages to make logan find his real self.
However with the coming of Onslaught, Wolvie finds himself in a very bad situation. Whilst in a mind trip courtesy of Gateway he and Elektra see the forming of Onslaught. When Prof. X fried Magneto's brains a part of psionic evil jumped from Magneto to the Prof. Therfore wolverine thinks himself responsible of creating the onslaught that grasped New York for starters. And as the Avengers and the Fantastic Four sacrifice themselves to beat Onslaught darker days have come for all mutants.
