Some Good News for Mikey and Paul fans Sunday Mail TV Scene (August 24-30 1997) For a couple of blokes who spend as much time together as Mikey Robins and Paul McDermott do, they never seem to tire of each other. Mikey and Paul co-host Triple J's morning show on weekdays and, one night a week, get together to make an assault on our senses in Good News Week (GNW). Paul hosts GNW, Mikey is a regular team leader and Julie McCrossin leads another. "No, we never get sick of each other," Paul said. Mikey: "Well, that's not quite true. I get really sick of Paul but he never gets sick of me." Paul: "Oh yeah? Then how come we had dinner together last Friday night? Mikey: "I felt sorry for you." Like all good comedy teams, Mikey and Paul fire off each other, but Julie is more than able to hold her own. "Given the nature of GNW, it is a very rapid-fire show and you have to have your wits about you," Julie said. "I think first-timers on the show have a little trouble initially adjusting. It's like they have to get rid of three kilos of one-liners very quickly. "Once they get used to it, they're fine. But yes, it is a very competitive environment." Mikey: "I don't find it competitive." Julie: "Yes, but that's because you are insanely quick." Paul: "Or just insane." Julie, Mikey and Paul will be in Brisbane on September 3 to record GNW from the Queensland Performing Art's Trust's (QPAT) Lyric Theatre.
