Michael Nesmith

Not Nishwash...Nesmith!

Mike is one amazing guy, let me tell you. From virtually inventing MTV with his ground breaking video Elephant Parts to writing his novel, The Long Sandy Hair Of Neftoon Zamora, he is one of the people I really look up to in the music world.

"Solemn-faced Mike Nesmith taught himself to play guitar whe he was about 19 years old. He didn't know any songs and he couldn't read notes, so he composed his own material.
As a student at San Antonia College, he began making appearances, first as a Country-and-Western singer-guitarist and eventually as a performer of other varieties of today's "sounds."
After college, he moved to Los Angeles and he teamed up with bass player John Lundgren with whom he toured Southern California. Adding a drummer, they formed a promising rio which was eventually broken up by the local draft board.
Mike's next stop was Ledetter's, an L.A. folk club. There he developed his first major following, singing and playing his own material. A year ago, his friends had to urge him to interview for an actin-performing role in a TV pilot, supposedly envisioned as a symbol of the young generation. Dressed in levis and wearing a green knitted hat, he finally went over to the Screen Gems lot to see what it was all about. Miek was quickly recognized as a born "Monkee" and that was that.
Nesmith wa bron in Dallas, Texas on December 30, 1942. He is six-feet one-inch in height, weighs 155 pounds, has dark brown hair and eyes. He lives on a hill in West Hollywood."
