This then is my small tribute to one of the BBC's truly great comedy series of all time Black Adder , the hit British TV comedy starring Rowan Atkinson and Tony Robinson. The first series introduced us to Edmond Black Adder, Duke of Edinburgh (played by Rowan Atkinson) and his miserable serf, Baldrick (played by Tony Robinson). The comedy show which was to run from 1983 to 1989 covered four series, each one set in a different period of history tracing the misfortunes of the Black Adder family and their ancestors (and of course.. Baldrick). The theme has been put together from bits and pieces found on the net and if those that own the copyright to the icons contacts me I will gladly mention them in future dispatches. Black Adder has been one of the most successful comedies ever shown on the BBC. Written initially by Richard "Four Weddings and a Funeral" Curtis and Rowan Atkinson, and subsequently by Curtis and Ben "The Young Ones" Elton, the saga follows the life and times of Prince Edmund, The Black Adder, and of a selection of his descendants.
The first series The Black Adder covers the medieval exploits of the venomous young aristocrat Edmund Black Adder and his vile foul smelling serf, Baldrick. This success of thefirst series fathered further exploits of the Black Adder dynasty. The second series, Black Adder II traced the fortunes ofa young Lord during Elizabethan times; the third series Black Adder the Thirdchronicles the life of the butler to the Prince of Wales duringthe late 1700s; the fourth, Black Adder Goes Forth, recounts tales of CaptainBlackadder in the trenches of World War One. There were two one-off specials in 1988, Black Adder: The Cavalier Years (15 mins) and a Christmas Special entitled Black Adder's Christmas Carol set in Mr Black Adder's moustache shop during the reign of Queen Victoria.

The Black Adder Desktop Theme has been put together using various files freely available from the Internet. Included are a number of rather excellent icons which I found whilst looking for useful .wav and graphic files for this project. If you are the owner of these icons and would care to e-mail me, I will be more than happy to include a credit in the files included with the theme. The theme boasts three different desktop wallpapers including both 8-bitand 24-bit colour desktop backdrops as shown below. Version 2.0 has been made Windows 98 compliant and also includes an all new screensaver featuring multi-media pics and sounds built with Screen Saver Deluxe.
The Desktop Theme is for use with Microsoft Plus! and is based on the hit TV Comedy Black Adder and you can download this here. If you do not have a copy of Microsoft Plus! help is at hand in the form of Desktop Themes, an excellent shareware desktop theme manager published by Jonathan Potter at Left Side Software.
