This web page is my tribute to the fast paced BBC2 comedy, The Fast Show.

The Fast Show is a furiously inventive and pacey comedy skit show (averaging a machine-gun-like 25 sketches per 30 minute episode), apolitical and fuelled by cleverly repetitive catchphrases and Viz like creations, the Fat Sweaty Cops, Arthur where's me washboard? Atkins, tongue tied toff, Ralph and Irish gardener Ted, coughing Bob Fleming, the Alcoholics and jinxed geriatric Uncle Alf were amongst the most famous characters. Whilst one could never accuse The Fast Show of lacking pace and larger than life characters, they had depth; there was something almost moving in repressed Ralph's unexpressed but powerful emotions for the monosyllabic Ted!

Created by ex-plasterer, Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson (ex-rock band, the Higsons) they had previously scripted for Harry Enfield - even inventing his now famous Saturday Live creations Stavros and Loadsamoney - as well as appearing in Harry Enfield's Television Show and follow on creations. Whitehouse and Higson first met as students at the University of East Anglia. In addition to penning seventy percent of the Fast Show material Whitehouse and Higson led the performers who included Caroline Aherene (who later went on to star in the hugely popular Mrs Merton Show). The Fast Show has re-established the art of comic sketch timing, as seen in Harry Enfield and Chums, Goodness Gracious Me and other recent successes. Brilliant! Brilliant!

The Fast Show is full of memorable catchphrases which are the trademarks by which this show has carved out a small but dedicated following: Scorchio/Does my bum look big in this?/We're off-roaders/Ooh! suits you Sir/I'm a geezer. I'll nick anything/Get yer knickers on and make a cup of tea/Relived and gutted, I think/Roy... you sack of shit/Meal for one...live alone, do you? (the check-out girl)/You ain't seen me right! Three series comprising a total of 32 episodes have been made and aired between 1995-1997. Now available on BBC video from most high street stores (e.g. HMV) if you missed this show first time round watch out for the ubiquitous re-runs or better still, buy the tapes!

The Fast Show Desktop Theme is based on the fast paced action packed comedy sketch programme featuring the talents of writers and performers Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson. The Theme features themed start-up and shutdown screens, hi-colour desktop wallpaper, animated cursor set and new desktop icons. Also included are new windows sounds taken from the Fast Show with some memorable quotes. As if that was not enough, we have included a full feature screensaver made using Screen Saver Deluxe. Instructions are provided in a Readme file and the whole theme is available in a convenient zip file to download.
