You have surfed into beebfun a tribute site to some of the best in BBC TV comedies, captured here in the form of Windows95 Desktop Themes for you to download and enjoy. The first Theme to be featured at this website is Only Fools and Horses from the hit British TV comedy series.

Only Fools and Horses stars the Trotter brothers, Derek and Rodney, who together comprise Trotters Independent Trading Co., In their yellow 3-wheeled Reliant Regal they are ready to take on the world in any money making scheme that comes along, well if not the world then Peckham! One of my favourite TV comedies of all time has to be Only Fools and Horses which first hit British TV screens in September 1981 when Derek "Del-Boy" Trotter (played by that ever popular actor, David Jason) was introduced to the unsuspecting British public, trying to sell one legged turkeys from the back of his Reliant Regal Supervan III. Del's next venture was the purchase of 25 combination briefcases for £200 which had fallen off the back of a lorry. The briefcases had one draw back - they were all locked with the combination code inside!!

Nicholas Lyndhurst plays Del-boys younger and more vulnerable brother, Rodney Trotter ("Roders") who invariably comes off worst in many of Del-boys madcap schemes and cons. Roders has often been said to be ever-so slightly intellectually challenged but right from the beginning Rodney has been threatening to dissolve their partnership, Trotters Independent Trading Co., in favour of a "proper" job.

Should you never have had the privilege of watching this hit TV comedy (re-runs currently on BBC1 and Astra satellite channel UK-GOLD) let me introduce you to Del-boy and Rodney as No-VAT man and Boy-Plonker, who featured in the Heroes and Villains Christmas Special, broadcast on UK television in December 1996.

Del-Boy and Rodney Trotter as No-VAT man and Boy-Ploker

Only Fools and Horses, the hit BBC TV comedy series has become as much a part of popular culture in Britain in the 80's and 90's as the Beatles were in the 60's. The show has probably been responsible for the popularisation and widespread use of some modern slang phrases such as "Cushty" (OK) "plonker" and "wally" (idiot) and many more. During a recent holiday to Turkey I was greeted at the hotel by a Turkish barman who maintained that everything was "lovely jubley" - one wonders whether he knew what it meant or had ever seen Only Fools and Horses!

Since it's launch on British Television in 1981, it has been a popular show with the British public. There have been a total of seven 13 part series running from 1981 to 1991 and no less than 12 Christmas specials, the last shown in 1993. The above picture of Del-boy and Roders has to be from one of the funniest episodes I have ever seen. When our intrepid hero's, late for a fancy dress party, decide to leg it through the back streets of Peckham, emerging from the fog they and are mistaken by some thugs, who are in the middle of a mugging as....., well I'll leave you to work that one out.
