Episode # 31: The Glass Kingdom

Episode Summary:  Heero, Quatre and Dorothy all arrive at the Sanc Kingdom.  A battle between the new Oz & the Treize Faction, who have been forced to retreat into the Sank Kingdom, begins.  Relena, in opposition to the battle is driven toward the the battle by Dorothy.

Episode Transcript:

[Scene: Sanc Kingdom.  (Also spelled Cinq, & Sank. I'm using this 'Sanc' version.  ) ]

[Relena's car pulls up with Heero & Quatre inside.

Pagan:  Let's go in.  Ms. Relena's in the directors office of the institution.

Quatre:  We'll find our way inside from here.  You know I don't like lying at all but it certainly doesn't suit you either Pagan. 

[Heero gets out of the car. ]

Heero:  We'll I'm not staying so once I get my gundam I'm getting out of here on the double.

Quatre:  Don't go Heero!  The nation desperately needs the gundam and we have to be sure we kept that fact a secret.

Heero:  Relena sure doesn't need any gundam.

Quatre:  It's necessary to protect the Princess, please understand Heero.

Pagan: You're such a kind person...

[Scene: Front steps of the Institution.  Heero & Quatre walk toward them. ]

[Girls see them and begin chatting. ]

Girl 1:  Who are those people?

Girl 2: Some boys for a change...

Girl 3: I wonder which country they're from.

Girl 2:  Isn't the one in front a servant?  He looks young for a bodyguard.

[Quatre overhears and laughs quietly. ]

[Scene: Directors Office. ]

Relena: On behalf of this institution I welcome you both to the Sanc Kingdom.   Heero, have you still not received your school uniform?

Heero:  I don't plan to stay here too long.  Once I'm done here, I'm leaving.

Quatre: Heero!

[Relena glances down at a screen, a picture of Trowa appears. ]

Relena:  Hmmm, Trowa Barton, a former gundam pilot and former Oz soldier in the Oz Space Forces, he was last confirmed at 0X.L2LE area.  Noin told me about him, that he's a very important person.

[Both boys look up at her, surprised. ]

Relena:  Many friends in the Sanc Kingdom could help us.  I've taken on a search for him.  Heero, couldn't you at least stay until the search is over?

Heero: Don't you think gundam pilots would end up being a burden the Sanc Kingdom?  

Relena:  I don't plan to make a big announcement about it; but I don't think hiding the facts will solve anything either.  Besides there's no battle in this country.   That's why you're here, you're nothing more than male students.

[Relena enters classroom with Heero & Quatre in tow. ]

[Dorothy watches with an amused smirk from her chair.]

Dorothy thinking: Ms. Relena, I applaud your prompt decision for these fateful arrangements....

Relena:  I would like you all to meet your two new classmates.  Would you please introduce yourselves? [looks at Quatre & Heero. ]

Quatre:  Quatre Raberba Winner.

[Screen turns to Heero. ]

[Flashback.  Scene: Space. ]

Dr. J:  Operation Meteor is about to commence, I'll contact you on the targets to attack and the enemy data.

Heero: Roger.

Dr. J: Then quickly proceed with the mission.

Heero: Roger.

Dr. J: We should decide on a code name for you.  Let's use the name of the peace minded leader of outer space.  Understood?

Heero: Understood.

[End flashback, back at classroom. ]

Heero:  My name is Heero Yuy... Pleasure.

[Scene: Fencing Room. ]

Quatre:  They're all girls... I guess it's true then.  They say men don't believe in solving all matters through discussion. 

Heero:  You can't make such a generalization.  Some women enjoy fighting just as much as men. 

Voice:  Mind if I challenge you to a fight? [a fencing duel. ]

[Shows Dorothy. ]

Dorothy:  You introduced yourself to us, but I haven't had a chance to do the same.  My name is Dorothy Catalonia.  I'm related to the leader of the Romefeller Foundation. 

Heero:  hmmm [puts his face mask on. ]

Dorothy: Despite that, Relena welcomed me as a student.  I hope we'll get to know each other. [puts her own mask on.]  Which means I'll have to be strong because I hear you hate weak women! [Dorothy attacks. ]

Dorothy: Once upon a time there were two people with the same name.  One one them risked their life to bring peace to outer space and became legendary.  Many people were angered by his death and swore to take revenge for him.  But now, the other person with the same name is also about to become a legend.  This warrior is known for his superhuman abilities and power and he too will probably fight for peace.  But I wonder if he'll end up loosing his life becoming a legend too.  [Dorothy's weapon cuts through his uniform as she lunges and cuts his arm. ] No good... A legendary knight doesn't loose on purpose.  There's no way you should loose to a woman just to hide your identity.  You must first live a strong, noble and intense life.  You can save dying for later. [he narrows his eyes.]  You should be able to make yourself into a much bigger legend, isn't that true Heero Yuy.?! [she attacks again.]

[Heero's weapon goes through Dorothy's face mask, she doesn't even flinch.  ]

Dorothy: Impressive.  But I'm not too bad myself, am I Heero?

Heero:  I'm having a tough time following what you're saying.  There must be two guys named Heero Yuy besides myself.

[Heero walks away. ]

Dorothy:  I knew you'd try to hide your identity and now we'll be together in the Sanc Kingdom.  Glad to meet you Heero...

[Scene: Directors Office. Noin enters. ]

Noin: Did you call for me Relena?

Relena:  I just received an application from Romefeller for approval to start a battle in the Sanc Kingdom.  What's this all about Noin?

Noin:  A Treize Faction unit is running from Oz is in the southern forest.  I contacted them earlier today and ordered them to move out immediately.

Relena:  Can they escape if we forced them to leave?

Noin:  A number of them are injured, but they also have the option of surrendering.  It's not something that concerns this nation.

Relena:  Some are injured. [she turns to the side. ]

Noin: Romefeller assault troops are hunting them down.  I'll contact the Treize Faction again and have them leave at once. 

Relena: No wait!  Pagan, couldn't we somehow treat them as temporary refugees, then we'd avoid any attacks from Romefeller.

Noin: Relena....

Relena:  I'm aware of the fact that the Romefeller Foundation holds the Sanc Kingdom in contempt, but we still cannot simply ignore the injured.  I won't sacrifice my humanity just to avoid chaos.  Please Noin... understand.

Noin:  I follow you... I'll tell the Treize Faction members...

[Scene:  Sanc Kingdom Forest. ]

Captain:  Blast!  Why'd we have to end up escaping into the Sanc Kingdom?

Soldier:  The attacks by the new Oz were staged to lead us into this area.

Captain:  We've been used like puppets.  There's no time to sit around like this.  We've caused enough trouble for this country.  Let's go.

[He gets up but starts to collapse. ]

Solider: Captain!  You can't expect to cross the border in the state your in!.

Captain: Nonsense!  We must leave here as soon as possible so we don't smear the Treize Faction's name. 

Solder 2:  Captain!  The Sanc Kingdom is on the line. They have instructions from Princess Relena.

[Noin appears on vid screen. ]

Noin:  This is Lucrezia Noin of the Sanc Kingdom Imperial Guard.  Our nation is prepared to temporarily accept you into the country.  Princess Relena's instructions are to discard your weapons and become refugees.  We believe this is the best solution.

Captain:  We've got a lot of injured men here.  Under normal circumstances we'd be glad to accept your kind offer, but we've been led into a trap.  I can't see Oz leaving us alone...

Noin: A trap?

Captain:  As soon as we retreated here they stopped attacking.  They should have no problems eliminating our troops considering our state.  But they're getting reinforcements.  At this rate the Sanc Kingdom could end up getting involved in this battle.  The only way to avoid that is for us to leave this country. 

Noin:  The daughters of many pacifist nations are currently living here.   Romefeller wants to start a battle and stir up peace oriented nations which would lead to their anxiety and disunity.

Captain:  I understand, but by staying we'd be giving the Sanc Kingdom an Achilles heel.  However, we're grateful for the support of the Princess.

Noin:  But what do you plan on doing? 

Captain:  Any further contact would be an added burden on you.  I will terminate the communication, just leave the rest to us.

Noin: Very well then.  I wish you the best.

Captain: Over and out.

[Disconnects.  Noin begins to cry. ]

Noin:  Their lives have to be sacrificed... forgive us... for the country... no, for the future. 

[cries again.]

[Scene:  hand pressing buttons over a security keypad outside of a locked door. ]

[Heero steps inside secret hangar.]

Heero:  Found it!  Hmmm, there's Noin's mobile suit... that's handy. 

[Scene:  Carrier is flying over ocean. ]

[commercial.]

[Scene:  Carriers fly overhead. ]

Soldier:  The Sanc Kingdom is contacting us again.

Commander:  Just bring them online.

Relena:  This is Relena Pacecraft.  We've decided to accept the Treize Faction members as refugees.  Any further infringements on their rights will result in actions against the Foundation. 

Commander:  I believe you've been slightly misinformed.  The Treize Faction is intending to take over the central part of the  Sanc Kingdom and remain besieged there.  We believe we'd be cooperating as peace keepers by attacking before they entered the city.

Relena:  The Treize Faction has no plans to attack.  They've told me so themselves.

Commander:  Those are there word?  Well clearly we can't accept that to be true. I'm ending transmission since the enemy could be listening to this conversation.

Relena:  Wait a minute - take a moment to reconfirm-

[Disconnected.]

Soldier: What should we do Sir?

Commander:  Chase them into the city, the greater the damage to the city, the greater the message on the pacifism's shortcomings.

[Scene.  Virgo's are released from carriers. ]

Relena:  They just do as they wish.  Pagan, take me to them!  And let's hurry!

Pagan:  That's dangerous, you must stay here, I implore you.

Relena:  I'm going to go and stop them, it's the only choice I have. 

Pagan:  Once the battle starts this area will be in chaos, a perfect place for the new Oz to cover up their crimes.  There's no way of telling what they're planning to achieve in this battle.

Relena: So you're saying they may target me, but no matter what happens I must stop them!

[Relena runs out the door.]

Pagan: Ms. Relena!

[Relena stops abruptly seeing Dorothy with her yellow limo at the bottom of the stairs. ]

Relena: Dorothy!

[Dorothy waves.]

Dorothy:  Ms. Relena come on!  Hurry!  Let's get going or else we're gonna miss the fight.

[Scene: Underground hangar, Quatre & Noin. ]

Quatre: ohhh

Noin: Yes, armed suits that shouldn't be found in a pacifist nation.  They're space mobile suits designed for battle on land.

Quatre:  Does the Princess know about these suits?

Noin: No, people think about fighting because they possess weapons such as these.   In order to cling to a peace which is really as fragile as glass.  Those would be her words...

Quatre:  But right now, we have no choice but to fight.  Heero's already headed out.  I'm sure his actions will be in the best interest of the Sanc Kingdom.   Let's head out after him with these Taurus's.

Noin:  Right, I'll prepare them.

[Scene: Treize Faction in Sanc Kingdom Forest.]

Soldier: The setup is complete. 

Captain:  Good job, if we're unable to escape from this country then we'll have to disappear.

Soldier:  The mobile dolls have landed, and are taking steps to push us further back into the Sanc Kingdom.

Captain:  Then get a move on, blow up every last trace of our unit. 

Solider:  Who are you?

Solider 2:  Kid?

Captain: It's a kid?

[Heero approaches. ]

Heero: Self detonation, not a bad idea, but if you're intending to die for this country, there's a better way to make use of your lives.

Captain: Just what are you talking about kid?

Heero:  Would you consider protecting this defenseless country?

Captain:  Our unit doesn't have much military power left.

Heero: Those who want to ruin Romefeller's plans follow me, you might even survive.

Solider: Who do you think you are?

Heero:  I'm returning a favor, it's simple.

Captain:  Okay, two or three of you come with me.

Solder: Captain, do you really trust him?

Captain:  Not many people have the confidence to defeat a mobile doll.    He's the one that the Romefeller Foundation fear so much.

Solider:  You mean that kid is a gundam pilot?

Captain: Pretty sure...

[Scene:  Mobile doll Virgo's advancing toward the Treize Faction. ]

Commander:  They're hardly putting up a fight.  Okay... after we've wiped out some of them in the forest we'll presume they're headed for the city.  We'll pursue the main troops.

Soldier:  Unidentified crafts are speeding straight at us Sir.

Commander:  What'd you say?

[Scene: Treize Faction in Taurus'. ]

Captain:  We'll face them in the air, right now we have the advantage.

[Taurus' engage with Virgo's. ]

[Scene: Yellow limo speeding toward battle site. ]

Dorothy: Ms. Relena, have you ever had the opportunity to see a real battle in person?

Relena:  It's something I've gone out of my way to avoid.

Dorothy:  That's natural, since people do end up dying.  Nobody actually wants to die, that why those who are fighting are so desperate.  I think that's what I find so attractive about battles.  Oh, I get so excited.  I'm certain thankful I'm living in this era.

[Scene: Oz Command Carrier. ]

Commander:  What's with that white mobile suits?  Which country owns it?

Soldier:  Commander there's a mobile suit carrier headed straight for us.

Commander: What?  Give orders to the mobile dolls.

[Virgo's shoot at carrier and it bursts into flames. ]

Soldier:  Good, we've shot it down, tricks like that wont' work on us.

[Wing rips open the plane.]

Soldier:  It can't be... a gundam!

[Wing shoots down the carrier plane; it plummets straight to the ground, heading directly for Dorothy's car. ]

Relena:  Look!  Stop the car!

[Car screeches to a half, Dorothy is leaning against the steering wheel, unresponsive.]

Relena:  Dorothy?  Are you okay Dorothy?

[Virgo's land on the bridge with Relena & Dorothy, but Quatre & Noin eliminate them in the white Taurus's. ]

[Relena gets out of the car as the wing lands gracefully in front of her ... music plays... Relena and Heero stare at one another.]

[Scene: (Next morning?)Wing is standing with the Taurus's behind it.  The four, Treize Faction pilots are lined up, with Heero, Quatre & Noin standing out front.   Dorothy is still in the car, supposedly knocked out.  ]

Noin:  You'd probably say these things are unnecessary in the Sanc Kingdom, but Romefeller's actions are getting more and more aggressive by the day.  I'm fully aware that this is contrary to your beliefs, but I've come to the conclusion that we'll surely be destroyed without our own defense of force.  I take full responsibility and am prepared to accept any punishment. 

Heero:  You shouldn't feel remorseful, this level of military power isn't enough to directly fight the Romefeller Foundation.  We can't sit here and let them destroy us as this nation's former leader did.

Relena:  Heero, is my idea just a dream, or could it even be a mistake?

Heero:  Romfeller makes a point of eliminating anything they find to be inconvenient, like the colonies or the gundams; and now Relena you have become their target.  I'm a soldier, I'll crush them battle, but the Foundations current targets refuse to fight back. These times are changing fast, all aspects of this battle are attributed to their impatience.  You propose total pacifism; the whole world is heading in that direction.  You have to understand what Noin is saying.  Right now defense is needed to make time for discussion later.

[Turns and walks toward his gundam. ]

Relena:  Where are you going?  Hold on!

Heero:  I'll go where my mind takes me, I've paid you back for your help searching for Trowa.  For me there's no place for pacifism.  The gundams exist for battles and nothing else.

Relena:  If you were me, how would you lead the Sanc Kingdom?

Heero:  The same was a Noin, build a defense unit.  That be the best way you could confront the Romefeller Foundation now.

Relena:  Heero & Noin, I approve.  I give you permission to do as you see fit.

Noin: Relena...

Relena:  How can I expect to come up with a position that the world will agree to if I can't even agree with those closest to me.  Someday I'm gonna find out what it is that gives everyone the urge to fight. 

[Heero, turns back toward Relena; apparently having changed his mind about leaving. ]

[Scene: Dorothy taps her fingers against the steering wheel. ]

Dorothy:  *laughs*  Impressive Ms. Relena.  You're not giving the gundam pilot the upper hand.  That's what I find so charming...
