Lady Une's Personal Affairs


	Personal Life If there's little to nothing mentioned about Treize, there's even less about Lady Une. She has no known relatives, no shown friends or acquaintances. In fact, she just 'appears' with Treize, with no apparent connection to anyone else except him. Where they met or how they became so close could be anyone's guess. Although, Lady Une has a gentle, meek attitude which may or may not suggest an aristocratic background similar to Treize's.

In the unlikely possibility you haven't seen the entire series yet... be warned Spoilers abound...

Lady Une is the female counterpart/companion of Treize Kushrenada. Their relationship is recognized by everyone including Treize himself who remarks to Zechs, 'there is one other person who understands me', which sheds light on their closeness. It's also apparent her importance to Treize is recognized by the soldiers when the members of the Treize faction return the unconscious Lady Une to him, after he takes over Romefeller. Lady Une is viewed as a direct representative of Treize, an opposing force for Tubarov, which might have encouraged him the more to shoot her when he did. (If you remember, Tubarov didn't like Treize and had some good reasons not to, aside from opposing Lady Une's releasing the pilots, whom she herself imprisoned. At this time Lady Une was the commanding officer, and note after Lady Une is gone Engineer Tubarov suddenly becomes Colonel Tubarov... )

What are her feelings for Treize? He makes his feelings perfectly clear, but she's more discreet and distant when it comes to Treize and her feelings for him. Neither ever admit to loving each other... but why debate obvious facts, right? It's really the only thing her two personalities have in common; Treize.

Her addresses to Treize vary, but she *usually* uses some form of formality... calling him. "Lord Treize, Master Treize, Mister Treize, His Excellency or just Colonel Treize." Whereas I've heard her use his first name only once (when she was fighting in the Taurus at Space Fortress Barge; you know when Lt. Nichol lured her out into space and then fire the beam cannon she said "I will fight for Treize" no formality at all.) I don't recall having heard her use his last name ... However, his name does have a very powerful effect on her and is pivotal to understanding her personalities. I believe it's Treize's name and his will, rather than actual presence that often instigates the change from Colonel Une to Lady Une, and that the uniform & glasses are only symbols of that change. She's never actually changed from Colonel to Lady while she was with him, in most cases when she's with Treize she was seen as Colonel Une. In the latter half of the series it was Lady Une, and after he was destroyed it's pretty well accepted that Colonel & Lady Une have both vanished as she became a whole, single entity again.

His presence has a different effect all together, his touch the more so. The very touch of his hand seems to make her speechless and almost dazed-like. (see section below to understand why I see this, this way). She's always alert, and highly protective of him, going to battle and warning him of danger when it is present, even getting shot for his ideals, when he himself was in no danger at all.

Off topic a moment: I often wondered what she does when she's not with Treize, she can't spend 24 hours a day with the man... that's unrealistic. She's never shown to have any confidants or friends, maybe she talks to one of those women who do her hair?

One question sums up this whole page... does she love him (of course she does! but for hypothetical reasons just say you're not sure...) Or does she simply believe in him and his ideals for the world? Well, something he says makes me think it's the former, that she does love him. He makes the comment to Zechs, "Her feelings toward me have caused her to have split personalities..." I suppose this could be taken numbers ways... But would she have bothered to put herself through so much stress and despair? Why would she feel the need to separate herself emotionally from her job to complete his wishes if she didn't feel anything for him? It's an awful big leap for someone you just respect... It would seem the reason her personalities split in the first place was because she loved him and didn't want to disappoint him, and maybe because she didn't want to see him in any danger (i.e her protectiveness of him. And off topic again, she doesn't seem to like Zechs much... Maybe she's jealous of the attention he gives to Zechs, it would be silly to be jealous of their friendship but when you love someone you really don't see things that way...)

Evidence of her Love for Treize: Probably unnecessary, so... *shrugs* humor me. ^_^ Oh, and these are in no particular order whatsoever....

1. She is convinced by that slime, Lt. Nichol at the space fortress barge to go into battle in the Taurus. He uses Treize's indirect influence on her to go... evidence that she wants to help him with his ideals... that and Nichol fed her some crap about Treize wanting her to fight...

2. One afternoon, Treize & Une were in his office (I think it was his office), she's speaking or ranting whatever way you look at it, I don't remember what about and he steps forward to grasp her hand in his. She gasps at his actions, completely loosing her place as she stops talking, he picks up where she left off speaking softly to her about something. Nothing romantic... that I would have remembered...

3. She draws his bath. I thought it amusing that Colonel Une drew his bath and not Lady Une. Can you imagine the meek Lady Une, standing in the doorway of Treize's bathroom, while he lays relaxing in his tub? I found this endlessly funny because I can just imagine this uncomfortable look on her face... maybe not, but I don't see Lady Une being comfortable standing in the doorway of his bathroom with a nude Treize in the bathtub telling him she'll get his bath scents...

4. "I'd almost convinced myself you'd be coming..." - Isn't that evident enough she misses him while in space?

5. She stole (the newly rebuilt) Gundam Wing from the base where it was stationed on Earth and practically destroyed it to save Treize from Libra's beam cannon after Zechs fired at him.

6. She dons her uniform once again and moves herself, (or he moves her since the gundam she came in was destroyed, it seems logical he would have escorted her to the safety of MO2. And I'd like to know just where she got that uniform from, she couldn't have brought one with her...) to the command center where the Earth's forces are being monitored. (Maybe MO2, I'm not sure of her exact location during this time.)

7. If you noticed (it's hard not to) that she balls her hands into fists after she watches him die, hiding her face away from the soldiers. But, being in command now there is no time to grieve, she still has to give her final orders and realize his ideals.

8. After Treize dies Lady Une hands a pistol to Relena and tells her to shoot her. "I'm like a body that has lost it's soul..."

9. She manages to bring Treize into every conversation. (Let's face it, she's obsessed with him.)

10. When he gave her a rose (episode 11) she started stuttering, and then wore it around all day, until Relena shot it. She seemed a little upset that such a stupid girl tried to kill her, and instead killed the rose Treize gave her.

11. You'll notice how her eyes grow huge in episode 4 when Treize said: "Oh, and Lady Une...."

13. She is the only person (besides Mariemaia) who bothers to visit his grave in EW.

16. She doesn't exactly mind the fact that Treize wears spandex, or that she has to watch him take a bath.......

17. In episode 22, she, wondering what's going on with this personality thing, says,"Am I Oz's Lady Une? Or do I work under Mr.Treize?" Her voice deepened on the second part with a special emphasis on under.

18. She danced with him at that party in episode 7, rather close too.... (This was found to be inaccurate... but I've left it up here so you'd know we found it to be false. )

19. In episode 4, her eyes narrowed whenever Treize talked about someone other than her (Vice Foreign Minister Darilan, Zechs).

20. In episode 22 when she was talking to Treize, she said, "You have a heart that could make you a god...." and when he said, "Please come back to me, the Lady Une I used to be so fond of." her heart just broke, and it was sooo sad.

23. She errr.......takes it upon herself to raise his child I mean..it's not hers!
