The History of Bobbie

Bobbie and her brother Luke were born to poor parents, and while their mother had loved them immensely, their father was an alcoholic who thought only of himself. Their mother died of appendicities when her father refused to take her to the doctors because they had no money. After their mother's death, their father ran off leaving Luke and Bobbie with the body. They then began living on the streets and eating out of garbage cans. The two finally found their way to their Aunt Ruby's house. There Bobbie and Luke did what they could to keep themselves from starving, Bobbie began prostituting herself at age 14 and Luke became a gambler and a con man. Bobbie and Luke managed to eventually find their way off of the streets, with Bobbie becoming a nurse.

Bobbie arrived in Port Charles as a nurse. No one knew about her history and she intended to keep it that way. Once in Port Charles, however, Bobbie fell for young law student Scotty Baldwin. Scotty was truly in love with Laura Webber, but turned to Bobby when things with Laura weren't working out.

However, Bobbie's luck with Scotty soon ran out. Cal Jamison approached her at the hospital after recognising Bobbie. Bobbie was afraid that Scotty and all of her friends would find out about her past and tried to hide the fact that she recognised Cal from Florida. A letter soon arrived from Jamison with pictures from Bobbie’s days as a prostitute and soon Bobbie found herself paying him to keep quiet.

However, Laura's relationship with Scottie ran into trouble when Scottie got back together with his ex-girlfriend. But Scotty was the first man Bobbie had ever slept with and actually loved. She was determined to keep him. She called her brother Luke to help her break the pair up. However, Luke began to fall in love with Laura himself. Several of Bobbie's plans fell through until finally Bobbie decided to pretend she was pregnant. Bobbie and Scotty then became engaged, however, Laura's mother Lesley discovered Bobbie's plan at the last minute. Bobbie then tried one last plan. Bobbie drugged Scotty at a nightclub one night and brought him home shortly before Laura was to arrive. Bobbie messed up her hair, and then when Laura returned told her that Scotty had turned to her after Laura had treated him like dirt.

Bobbie succeeded in making Laura doubt Scotty, but Bobbie stopped her scheming when she heard that Laura had an accident after running from the apartment and had almost died. Bobbie turned to her Aunt Ruby, who had recently moved to town, and promised to stop her scheming. Shortly after Bobbie found herself in love with Roy DiLucca, a mobster and Luke's business partner. Weeks later the two became engaged as Bobbie became a full-fledged nurse. However, her happiness was short lived, one of Bobbie's former clients showed up at the hospital and exposed her past. The truth came out Bobbie gave her engagement ring back to Roy after he beat up the client.

But when Roy was suspected of raping Laura, Bobbie came to his rescue by becoming his alibi. Roy then forgave Bobbie for being a prostitute and the couple again became engaged. But then Roy was given a mob assignment to shoot the new state senator, but Roy was shot instead by the senator’s security guard and died in Bobbie’s arms.

Bobbie's next romance was with surgeon Noah Drake. But Bobbie soon realized that Drake was afraid of commitment and a future with him would be impossible. She decided to do something drastic and faked blindness. Drake then declared that he loved her, but he later confessed that he only felt sympathy for her. Bobbie was heartbroken and left town to start a new life. Drake later fell for Tiffany Hill, but when Bobbie returned and was welcomed back to the hospital by all but Tiffany, their reltaionship ran into problems. Bobbie eventually got over Drake and once again fell, this time for D.L. Brock. The two immediately connected, and Bobbie admitted to him that she felt like an outsider in Port Charles.

At the same time, Duke was campaigning for election and Scotty brought up Bobbie's history as a prostitute to ruin his chances of reelection. Brock at first rejected Bobbie but eventually he forgave her. Then later that year, Bobbie discovered she was pregnant. But Brock had stated that he didn’t want any more children, and Bobbie felt she couldn't tell him about her pregnancy. Bobbie later miscarried and learned that she needed a hysterectomy and would be unable to have children. Bobbie didn't tell Brock this, and when the two married Bobbie was devastated when Brock declared that she would be the best wife and mother ever.

After an argument with Brock, Bobbie collapsed and began to haemorrhage. After being rushed to General Hospital, she underwent an emergency hysterectomy. Brock was livid when he discovered all of Bobbie's lies. Bobbie’s then began to try and adopt a child and the arguments began to become more frequent and more violent. One day Brock struck her during a fight and Bobbie threw him out. But she wanted to save her marriage and she eventually allowed him to return, even mortgaging her house to help his business and allowing his daughter Terry to move in. Terry and Bobbie didn't get along, but the two bonded after Bobbie bailed Terry out of prison. Meanwhile, Brock continued to verbally and physically abuse Bobbie, and became exceedingly jealous of her. Bobbie and Terry decided to leave Brock but he came home as they were packing their bags and knocked Bobbie to the ground and held a gun on her. But Bobbie's rival Ginny, whom Brock had also threatened, came in, got the gun from Brock and killed him. Bobbie was arrested and charged with his murder.

Bobbie's attorney, Jake Meyer, defended Bobbie until Robert Scorpio managed to find Ginny, who later confessed. Ginny’s trial began and Bobbie exonerated her by telling the court that Brock had been in a homicidal rage on the night of his death.

Jake Meyer fell for Bobbie, but she was determined to become a self-sufficient woman. However the two bought and renovated a brownstone and were drawn together.

The two had a happy life until Dr. Tony Jones' wife Tania gave birth to a premature infant, named BJ after Bobbie assisted in her birth. Bobbie then redoubled her efforts to adopt and decided to find a surrogate mother to have Jake’s baby. But Jake had had an affair with Lucy Coe while trying to prove her innocence in a series of murders and Lucy became pregnant.

Jake broke the news to Bobbie, and after talking with Aunt Ruby Bobbie forgave Jake and the two asked Lucy to let them adopt the child. Lucy agreed, but later miscarried. Jake and Bobbie again tried to adopt a child.

The Bobbie became friends with Martha McKee, a paraplegic suffering form pneumonia. Martha’s condition worsened, and she decided to name Bobbie and Jake as the guardians for her two children, Melissa and Skeeter. But Melissa and Skeeter weren't happy with Bobbie and ran away to Miami where they became the victims of a pimp. Bobbie found this out, and without telling Jake, flew to Florida. In order to save Melissa, Bobbie again became a prostitute. But Bobbie was arrested and this was later published in the newspaper. Scotty Baldwin then reappeared in order to get Bobbie off the charge, but when she returned home, Jake felt hurt and betrayed. And on top of everything else, Melissa and Skeet were taken away from Bobbie by the courts. Jake then pushed Bobbie away, and she and Scotty became closer.

Bobbie and Jake's marriage began to fall apart as their chance to adopt was taken away due to Bobbie's charges in Florida and Soctty's continued presence in Bobbie's life. Jake eventually left for Uruguay to help flood victims. Scotty intercepting mail and apologies from Jake and soon Bobbie decided to divorce Jake. But eventually Bobbie realised what had happened and kicked Scotty out of the brownstone.

Jake Meyer then returned to defend Anna on murder charges. Jake tried to patch their marriage back together, but Bobbie was too hurt and confused to resume their relationship. Jake returned to Uruguay, giving Bobbie a choice of either joining him or divorcing him.

Bobbie decided to stay in Port Charles and soon befriended Tony Jones. as he underwent two brain surgeries and became temporarily blind. Bobbie began to fall in love with Tony, but Tony began dating his therapist. Bobbie then decided to once again try and adopt a child. She found one to adopt, but birth mother of her potential adoptee ended the arrangement. Bobbie then hired an illegal baby broker and received a child, Lucas. Lucas, however, was the child of Cheryl Stansbury, who believed that she had miscarried. Meanwhile Tony proposed and the two had a small wedding in Peurto Rico. But Bobbie soon realized that Cheryl had given birth at the same time Lucas was born. She began investigating and found that Lucas was indeed Cheryl’s baby. She was afraid of losing Lucas and decided not to keep Lucas' parents a secret.

Cheryl, however, was soon brought to General Hospital with kidney problems. There she talked about her baby and wondered if he had really died. Bobbie then tried to cover her tracks, trying to steal a file on Lucas' adoption. However, Bobbie was caught by Frisco. She broke down and told her brother-in-law the truth. But Frisco promised to keep it a secret. However, Robert eventually descovered what had happen. Bobbie then tried to ran away with Lucas, but was eventually caught and had to give Robert the baby.

Cheryl soon died and in her will, gave Lucas to Bobbie. Cheryl's sister Tiffany, however, decided she wanted Lucas and decided to fight the will. Tiffany informed the social worker in charge of the case about Bobbie's past as a prostitute. Tiffany's husband was disgusted with her gutter tactics and left Tiffany. Without her husband, Tiffany lost Lucas to the Jones'.

Damian Smith and Lucy Coe struck up a bet that Damian could seduce any woman. Lucy believed the Jones' marriage to be impervious and bet that he couldn't seduce Bobbie. Damian began trying to get to know Bobbie. Bobbie decided to use that opportunity to get information from Damian about his Father Frank Smith, who had been threatening Luke. Tony became jealous and when Damian asked Bobbie to go away with him for the weekend he forbid Bobbie's relationship with Damian. However, Bobbie was really beginning to want an affair with Damian. The two kissed and Bobbie tried to end everything there, but Damian underwrote the General Hospital Nurses’ Ball, and arranged for Bobbie to be Chairwoman of the event.

Then Bobbie went to the hospital for work as B.J. went off to school. When Damian motioned her to follow him into the stairwell, Bobbie did and there Tony saw the two embracing. Tony punched Damian ran off, with Bobbie chaing after him. The two argued until Amy found them and told them that B.J.'s school bus had been hit by a drunk driver and BJ was in serious condition. B.J. was brain dead, and when Tony realized that, he made the decision that B.J.'s heart should be given to her cousin Maxie, who was suffering from Kawasaki Syndrome. Bobbie at first said no, but later agreed.

After B.J.’s funeral, Tony threw Bobbie out of the brownstone. Bobbie then went to Damian's where the two made love. Lucy walked in on them and then told Bobbie about the bet. Lucy gave Bobbie the key to the room and Bobbie later walked in on Lucy and Damian. After a few weeks of still wanting Damian, Bobbie decided she wanted revenge more. She lured Damian into the catacombs and then turned the power off, left the tunnel and slammed the door. Damian became lost in the dark, and when a storm hit the water in the catacombs began to rise. Damian tried to crawl out, but fell and broke his back. Bobbie's nephew Lucky Spencer managed to find him before he died though.

Bobbie and Tony decided to seek marriage counseling, and as the Christmas season came, their marriage began healing. But Bobbie's best friend Monica soon developed breast cancer and when she pushed her husband Alan away, Bobbie and Alan became close. The two planned an out of state affair, but were discovered in their underwear by Monica and Tony. The couples managed to forgive each other, but Monica and Bobbie's friendship seemed to have ended. Eventually, however, the two managed to get their anger out in a food fight and renewed their friendship.

Bobbie began having dreams about her past. After struggling to find out what they meant, she finally realized they were about the daughter she had given up for adoption when she became pregnant by a client at age 15. Bobbie then decided to find her daughter. She hired a cheap P.I., Peyser, who took the case and demanded $20,000 to find her daughter. Bobbie wanted to find her daughter, but didn't want Tony to find out. She borrowed money from a loanshark to pay Peyser. But the P.I. eventually left town. Peyser later gave some money to a woman named Carly Roberts, who showed up at General Hospital as a physical therapist. Luke tried to find Peyser and keep Bobbie's loan shark from harassing her, but could not find out any information about her daughter.

But when Luke and Laura's daughter Lesley-Lu was diagnosed with aplastic anemia, they needed to find a bone marrow donor. When no one in the family was an acceptable donor, Bobbie and Luke frantically began searching for her daughter. But Bobbie still couldn't bring herself to tell Tony about her child. Luke soon found the adoptive mother of Bobbie's daughter, Virginial Benson. Virginia agreed to help Luke, but had had no contact with her daughter Caroline in years, and didn't expect to hear from her soon. Eventually it was revealed that Laura had had another child when she had been kept a prisoner by the Cassadines. Laura's child, Nikolas donated marrow to Lesley-Lu.

Meanwhile, Carly Roberts was becoming more and more a part of Bobbie's life by pretending to look after Lucas. Bobbie began resenting Carly's interfering, but Tony claimed that she was only helping. Bobbie then flew to Florida to talk to Virginia and find out more about her daughter. Bobbie and Virginia bonded when Bobbie told Virginia about her past as a prostitute and Virginia agreed that if she heard from Carly she would tell Bobbie. Meanwhile, Carly and Tony kissed while Bobbie was gone.

Bobbie and Tony tried to stop their relationship, but Bobbie began searching for her child and Tony began pushing Bobbie away. Tony didn't come home on B.J.'s birthday and Bobbie thought that he needed space. Bobbie again asked Luke to find Caroline. Luke went to Florida and talked to Virginia again. While he was gone, Bobbie received a call from a neighbor at Tony's cabin saying there may have been a break-in. She walked in and found Tony and Carly making love. In Florida, Virginia showed Luke several photos of Caroline, Luke realized that "Carly Roberts" was actually Bobbie's daughter, Caroline Benson. Luke returned to Port Charles planning on telling Bobbie that he had found Caroline, but when he arrived Bobbie told him that she had found Carly in bed with Tony. Luke then told Bobbie that Caroline had died in a car accident years earlier. Bobbie began crying, realizing that she had lost two daughters in car accidents. Tony walked in on Bobbie crying and confronted Bobbie. Bobbie then told Tony about her daughter. Tony then used that as an excuse for their break up and divorced Bobbie

Bobbie had befriended Nikolas Cassadine. His Uncle Stefan saw this and convinced Bobbie to marry him. Luke would not have his sister marry a Cassadine, however, and stopped their relationship. At the same time, Luke and Laura faked the death of Laura and her mother Lesley in order to save them from the Cassadines. Meanwhile, Stefan accidentally shot Katherine Bell and decided to fram Luke for the shooting.

As Katherine began to recover, Stefan became obsessed with her. Luke and Laura then returned to town after the police discovered that Laura was not really dead. Bobbie was furious with both Luke and Laura, but Bobbie began learning about all of Stefans evil deeds. She decided to turn on Stefan and steal a Cassadine medallion in order to help her brother defeat the Cassadines. Stefan discovered Bobbie's plan and caught her trying to steal the medallion. He was livid and threw Bobbie out of the house. Bobbie and Luke then resumed their relationship.

Bobbie's disgust at Carly was slowly turning around as she saw Carly, now a mother to baby Michael, grapple with motherhood. Bobbie's support and help brang Carly and Bobbie together, despite Luke's protestations that Carly stay away from Bobbie. Finally Carly could take it no longer, in a moment of joy, she blurted out that she was Bobbie's daughter. Bobbie was in shock, and after accepting the truth, argued with her brother, telling him things would never be the same.

Bobbie and Luke managed to form a truce, however, as Carly's baby was kidnapped and Luke's relationship with Lucky began to fall apart. Soon, the kidnapper was revealed to be none other than Tony Jones! Bobbie was unable to support Tony and promised to keep him away from Lucas. When Tony was released by the courts, Carly went temporarily insane and shot him. She was then put in an insane asylum, where she and Bobbie became much closer as Bobbie tried to help Carly deal with missing Michael and life outside of the mental institution.
