The Double Date Disaster
By Ginny Slater and Anna Silverman

Davy and Micky sat at the kitchen table reading over a new song,
when
Peter came rushing downstairs with a huge smile on his face. He ran to
a mirror and looked at his tux, checking for any flaws.
"Come on Mike! Hurry up!" Peter yelled.
     "What's your hurry?" Micky asked.
"Mike and I are going on a date." Peter answered with another huge
smile.
"What?!" Micky and Davy both cried.
"Peter and I are going on a double date with two girls that we
met."
Mike said while putting on his woolhat, being careful not to fall down
the stairs.
"Oh, I get it" came the reply.
"Who are the chicks?" Davy asked with enthusiasm.
     "Ginny and Anna." Peter said.

"I can't wait to see Peter again!" said Anna, enthusiastically.
"I know, I can't wait to see Mike! I miss him!" said Ginny, with a
shy
little smile.
Anna was ready but Ginny was still freaking out about her outfit,
so
Anna took out her picture of Peter and started to drool on her short
black spandex dress. She didn't realize this until her dress was
soaked.
"Damn it, Peter, look what you made me do!" shouted Anna, at the
picture. "Now I have to change my dress."
By the time she was at this point, Ginny was ready, so she waited
impatiently for Anna to change her dress. She wound up wearing a long
blue dress with flowers on it.
"This one looks better, doesn't it?" she asked.
"Yeah, I like that one better," Ginny agreed.

Davy gave a confused look. "I dun't think I know those two."
"Of course not, Peter and I just met them." Mike rolled his eyes.
Mike walked over to the mirror and fixed his hat. He then headed
for
the door. Peter still stood by the mirror daydreaming. Mike noticed that
Peter wasn't with him and looked back. He sighed and walked quickly over
to Peter.
"Come on Peter!" Mike sighed again. He grabbed Peter's arm and
pulled
him out the door. Both said bye to Micky and Davy.

Anna looked down at her watch.
"Why aren't they here yet?" she asked, with a worried look.
"I dunno, maybe they're stuck in traffic or something," replied
Ginny.
She seemed uninterested.
They sat down on the concrete patio to wait.

Mike beeped the horn, he was beginning to get impatient with the
traffic. Peter looked at the other cars with worry.
"Mike what if we don't get there in time?" Peter whined.
"Don't worry Peter, I'm sure the girls will understand." Mike
answered.
After waiting for what seemed like hours, Mike was able to get
through.
They passed by many streets looking for the girls' house
"Man I don't remember the address they gave us." Mike cried.
Peter pulled out a crumpled piece of paper from his pocket. He
looked
at it and a look of confusion crossed his face. He found the house
number, but he wasn't sure if it was 66 or 99. Peter turned the paper
this way and that and finally decided 99 was the number. Peter told Mike
the number, so Mike put the petal to the metal over to number 99.
"Wait a minute Pete. What street?"
Peter shrugged and Mike stared at him. He searched his pockets
again
and found another piece of paper. This one said Water Street. The
Monkeemoblie roared over to Water Street. Peter and Mike kept their eyes
open for house 99. When they found it they saw two girls all dressed up
waiting outside. Mike parked the car and Peter ran up to the porch. Mike
quickly ran behind him.
"Sorry we're so late." Mike gushed.
The two girls looked at Mike and Peter as if they were nuts. Peter
looked at the taller girl closely and gasped.
"Mike these girls aren't Anna and Ginny."
"Well which girls are they?" Mike asked.
"They're our girls." A voice growled from behind.
Mike and Peter turned around to see two tall men standing behind
them
with dirty looks on their faces. Mike gulped.
"How would you like me to flatten you into a pancake?" one of them
laughed.
     Peter started to cry.
"Now look what you did." Mike yelled. "Making him cry…"
     "Mike I don't wanna be a pancake, I don't even like pancakes."
Mike pet Peter's head. "He didn't mean it Pete."
Both Mike and Peter ran for the Monkeemobile as fast as they could.
     "Mike?"
     "Yes?"
"I think we got the wrong house."
Mike put his hand over his face. "Let me see that piece of paper."

The two of them sat on the patio gloomily, waiting for the boys.
"You think they stood us up?" asked Anna. She was about to cry.
"Nah, they'll be here. Just give them a few more minutes. You
know
how guys are."
Anna nodded and put her head in her hands. Just then, Ginny
punched
Anna in the shoulder. Anna wasn't expecting it and she fell onto the
muddy grass.
"Hey!" she shouted. "Look what you did! My dress is all muddy!"
"Don't be such a spazz," said Ginny. "I was only joking with you."
     "Oh yeah?" she said.
Anna got up and pushed Ginny into the mud.
"Hey!" said Ginny, but she was laughing.
They continued to push each other into the mud. Just then, a car
pulled up…Ginny and Anna both gasped.

Mike parked the car. "Are you sure its 66?"
"Well that's what the paper says." Peter answered.
Mike froze at the sight of the two girls sitting in the mud.
Peter looked at Mike with confusion. "What is it?" He followed
Mike's
gaze and gasped.
"Uh, um, what are you doing?" Mike asked.
     "Us? Nothing." Ginny giggled nervously.
"Hi Peter," said Anna with a smile, ignoring the situation. She
went
up to him and put her head down on his shoulder.
"We can't take you into the restaurant looking like that." Mike
cried.
"I'm sure no one will notice." Ginny answered quickly.
"Alright," muttered Mike. "C'mon, let's go."
The four of them got into the Monkeemobile. Mike and Ginny got
into
the front and Peter and Anna got into the back (hehe). A few minutes
later they pulled up in front of Reginato Restaurante (A very expensive
restaurant). Mike opened the door for Ginny and helped her out of the
car. Peter did the same with Anna. All four rushed to the door.
     "It's closed!" said Mike.
"What?!" cried Anna. "I thought we had reservations for tonight!"
Mike took a minute to think. "Oh no! That was for yesterday! I
got
the days mixed up!"
Peter began to cry. Anna tried to comfort him.
"Don't cry Peter," she said, giving him a hug. "We'll find
someplace
else to eat, right?" she said, looking hopefully at Ginny and Mike while
Peter sniffled.
     "Right," said Mike, hesitantly.
Peter had stopped crying. "See? It's all better now. We'll just
find
someplace else that's all," she cooed to him, stroking his long hair.
He nodded.
They all walked solemnly to the Monkeemobile.
"Well, where do you want to eat?" asked Mike.
"I saw a place on the way here called Golden Corral," said Ginny.
"It
looks like an okay place. Why don't we try it?"
     "Alright," they all said.
Mike started up the Monkeemobile and they headed for the Golden
Corral.
Anna and Peter cuddled in the backseat. Mike and Ginny teased them. Mike
looked over at Ginny and smiled. She gulped and looked back at Peter and
Anna. Mike looked hurt and parked the car.
The four of them got out of the car. Peter took Anna's hand and
Mike
took Ginny's hand (awwww) and they walked up to the door. They slowly
went in and looked around. It was a very busy place.
"There sure are a lot of people here," said Mike. "I guess that
means
the food is good."
"The sign said all you can eat….I could eat a horse!" Anna said.
Mike went up to the counter and explained how many people would be
eating. He grabbed the plates and trays and thanked the woman. Just then
Ginny noticed people were staring at her. She remembered the mud and ran
to the bathroom. Anna followed behind. Ginny stared at her reflection in
the mirror and saw the dried mud on her face and in her hair. Her dress
was completely covered in mud. Anna noticed the same. Both girls tried
their hardest to wash the mud off.
"Hey Michael? What's this?" Peter asked.
Mike walked over and saw Peter staring down at a piece of green
chicken.
"Oh, that looks terrible!" Mike cried.
Ginny and Anna walked out of the bathroom trying to ignore the
looks
they were reciving. They saw Mike and Peter and hurried over to them.
Peter greeted Anna with a smile. She giggled. Mike put his arm around
Ginny. She twisted out from beneath his arm and hid behind Anna, leaving
Mike with a puzzled look. Mike and Peter sat down at a table in a quiet
section of the restaurant while Ginny and Anna piled their plates.
Once the girls sat down the table grew quiet. Everyone felt
uncomfortable with the eery silence. Anna picked up her class of Coke,
but she was so nervous that her hand shook and she spilled all of her
soda on Peter's shirt. Peter cried out as the cold soda splashed against
his chest. Anna grabbed a bunch of napkins and tried her best to absorb
the Coke. Mike looked to Ginny again with another smile. Ginny tried to
look away, but Mike's eyes locked in her's. They sat there for a few
minutes staring into each other's eyes. Just then Ginny got an itch on
her lower leg. She tried to scratch it with her foot, but ended up
kicking Mike. Mike hollered in pain and fell face first into his soup.
Ginny's face turned bright red. Anna's eyes grew big as she looked at
Mike's face.
"Uh, here Mike." Anna said while handing him some napkins.
"Thanks," he said while giving Ginny a strange look.
Ginny nervously ate her soup. The soup was running and tasted
disgusting, but yet she was very hungry. She had to lean over her bowl
to get all the soup off of the spoon before it ran off. Just as she was
leaning over a huge piece of broccoli came flying down the front of her
dress.
"Oops." Anna giggled.
Ginny reached for the broccoli and tried to take it out of her bra, but
it was stuck. The cooked broccoli burned Ginny's chest. She tried and
tried to get the broccoli, but failed. All three Mike, Anna, and Peter
stared at Ginny with wide eyes. Her face turned bright red and she ran
for the bathroom. When she came back out all three stared at her again.
"Peter have you seen my wallet?" Mike asked in a loud whisper.
"Why should I have seen your wallet? I don't carry it around. I don't
even carry mine around." Peter said loudly. People at other tables
looked at him.
"Pssst. Down here." Ginny whispered.
Peter ducked under the table to find Ginny holding a big wad of money.
"You can use this to pay the bill," She said.
"Oh, thank you."
Peter took the money and bumped his head on the table on his way up. He
cried out in pain and bumped the table again this time causing it to
fall over. The food from the table went flying onto the people at the
neighboring table. By this point all four were being kicked out by a
waiter. Mike tripped and landed face first into the potato salad sending
his woolhat onto someone else's plate.
The other three rushed over to Mike, napkins in hand. They tried hard to
keep from laughing.
"Mike, are you okay?" Ginny asked as she handed him the napkins.
"Well, I'm covered in potato salad but besides that I'm fine," said
Mike.
Ginny giggled.
At that moment, two people came rushing over. One person was the
restaurant's manager and the other was the person in whose plate Mike's
hat had landed.
"I believe this is yours," said the snotty man. He handed Mike his hat.
"Thank you," said Mike. The man walked away with his nose up in the
air.
The manager tapped Mike on the shoulder.
"I'm sorry sir but I'm going to have to ask you and your party to please
leave the restaurant immediately!!," he shouted, pointing to the door.
"Alright, fine. I'll have no problem with that, the food here is
disgusting anyway," Mike yelled. Everyone in the restaurant gasped.
That's when he realized they were all staring.
"C'mon," he said to Anna, Peter, and Ginny. They quickly left the
restaurant.
Everyone was quiet as they walked to the car. When they reached it,
before they got in, Mike apologized.
"I'm really sorry our date had to turn out this way," said Mike.
"Yeah," said Peter.
The girls looked down.
"It just wasn't a good night," Mike went on. "I would like to ask you
girls, if it's alright with you too Pete, if you want to try this
again…another night. Hopefully things will go better."
"Sure," said Peter.
"Yeah, okay," said the girls, still sounding down.
"Alright how about next Saturday, same time? We'll go to the nice
French restaurant. I'm sure it's open on Saturdays."
"Absolutely sure?" asked Anna with a smile.
"Yeah." Mike smiled back, but he looked down.
The rest of them giggled.
They got into the Monkeemobile and headed for Water Street to drop off
the girls. When they got there, Peter and Mike walked Anna and Ginny to
the door. The two couples separated themselves so they could be alone
for a few minutes.
"Goodnight Mike," said Ginny. "Thanks for an…interesting night," she
said. She smiled a little. Mike giggled nervously.
Then Mike leaned close to Ginny. Ginny was beginning to get nervous but
she didn't push him away this time. In a few seconds, they were
kissing.
"Well, this has certainly been an interesting night," said Anna to
Peter.
"Yeah, it's one of the most interesting nights I've ever had," he said
with an adorable smile. They were quiet for a few seconds.
"Well, goodnight Peter," she said. Anna gave Peter a kiss.
"Thanks!" said Peter. Anna gave him a weird look.
"Uh, your welcome," she stammered, then she smiled.
The two couples met again. . They all said goodnight. As Mike and Peter
were walking towards the Monkeemobile, Ginny called out to them.
"Wait! We seem to be having a little problem," said Ginny.
"What could be wrong now?" Mike mumbled and he and Peter rushed over.
"We can't find our house keys!" said Anna.
"Are you sure you looked everywhere?" asked Mike.
"Yes!" they both said, loudly.
"Oh, well, I guess you're going to have to come back with us until your
parents get back and open the door," said Mike.
"They'll be upset, but they'll just have to understand," said Anna.
"C'mon, we'll take you back to the pad," said Mike.
Peter and Mike took the girls' hands and they walked to the
Monkeemobile. They went back to the pad and they hung out with Micky
and Davy. They played spin the bottle, card games, and anything else

they could think. They had a lot of fun. Around 1:00am Anna and
Ginny's parents called to find out where they were. They weren't mad,
just a little upset. Mike and Peter drove the girls home. It hadn't
been such a bad date after all.
