Chapter 35: The Adult's New Year
Everyone was gathered at the Outback for the New Years Eve party. Quinn took a
glass filled with champagne off the tray as the waiter went by. He looked at
Alexis and Ned who were right next to him.
Ned: I think I'm going to talk to Monica. I'll be right back.
Alexis: Okay.
Ned left giving Alexis and Quinn some time to talk.
Alexis: How are you this evening?
Quinn: Edgy. Three months ago Helena crashes that Halloween party and hasn't
been seen since. I just wish I understood what she was doing.
Alexis: Helena is a hard person to understand.
Quinn: Person? Alexis you are being much to kind.
Alexis: Where's Miranda?
Quinn: Natasha is staying home where she is being guarded heavily.
Alexis: I'm surprised you left her alone.
Quinn: She insisted I leave. I am a little worried, though.
Alexis: Relax, father. I'm sure she's perfectly fine.

Miranda found herself in what looked to be a dungeon. Miranda looked around and
saw no sign of any other people.
Miranda: Where am I, how did I get here?
Then she noticed a TV turn on in the corner of the dungeon. On the tube was the
face of a very old woman who Miranda recognized instantly.
Miranda: Helena.
Helena: Good evening, child.
Miranda: What am I doing here?
Helena: Your bodyguards weren't as trustworthy as Quinn thought. Very easy to
pay off. You are here to serve one purpose and you do not need to know of it
yet. Do you realize who you are?
Miranda: Yes… Natasha Cassadine, the child of Mikkos and his lover.
Helena: You are far from correct.
Miranda was confused.

Bobbie was talking to Felicia by the counter when she noticed Tony not to far
down talking to this other man. Greg Patrick, a lawyer who used to work at GH.
Greg walked away and Bobbie decided to talk to Tony.
Bobbie: Hello Tony.
Tony: Hello Bobbie.
Bobbie: Tony, why were you talking to Greg Patrick?
Tony: I might as well tell you… I'm suing for filing custody of the baby.
Bobbie: What?! Why?
Tony: She's unstable and I don't want her anywhere near my child.
Bobbie: It's her child too. Did you even bother to tell her you were doing
this?
Tony: Why not, there are plenty of things she hasn't told me.
Jason was going up to the bar to get a drink when he overheard them.
Bobbie: I cannot believe you're actually going to sue Carly for custody of the
baby.
Tony: Just promise me that you won't say anything to her.
Bobbie: I won't, but tell me what you are going to do. Tell her or is she going
to be greeted by a lawyer and find out that way?
Tony: I haven't decided yet.
Bobbie: Whatever you plan, don't expect me to be behind you on this.
Bobbie leaves and a second later, so does Jason.

Katherine was driving on an icy road on the outskirts of town. She was going to
make a simple turn when the car swerved out of control. She went off the road
and kept going downhill.
Katherine: Oh my God!

The song "Always Suffering" by The Rolling Stones played in the Outback and had
decided he wanted to get a breath of fresh air. He noticed Katherine was
running rather late but part of him didn't really mind.
"Let's take a walk
Just you and me
And talk of days gone by
Across the fields
Under the trees
Let's speak of you and I"
Stefan walked out of the Outback and saw Bobbie standing there, alone.
"While the whole world
Was wandering
We walked a steady line
When all our friends
Were wavering
We kept on trying"
Stefan: Hello Barbara.
Bobbie turned around and smiled.
"Now we're always suffering
Already lost"
Bobbie: Hello Stefan.
"Always suffering
Already lost"
Stefan: How are you doing this evening?
Bobbie: Just fine.
"Remember when
On summer days
I would sing a lovers song
How you would smile
Shower me with praise
And the sun shined on"
Bobbie and Stefan stand there silently, the song playing in the background.
Bobbie tried to think of a way out of this awkward moment.
Bobbie: Is Nikolas doing better?
Stefan: Much better. He has almost healed completely.
Bobbie: How long before we can get our divorce problem settled?
"Now the rain is falling slow
And the nights grow long
And the train
Cries out so hauntingly
She is gone"
Bobbie: Stefan?
Stefan: I am not quite sure yet. I have a very busy schedule.
"Now were always suffering
Already lost
Always suffering

Stefan looked at Bobbie, trying to figure out what words to say. He didn't care
about Katherine and he didn't want to take her feelings into consideration any
longer. All he wanted to do was hold Barbara in his arms.
Bobbie: Stefan, what is it?
Stefan: It's nothing… I was just wondering what was taking Katherine so long.
Bobbie: I'm sure she'll be here soon.
"Please take these flowers
Smell the perfume
Let your soul come alive
Let there be hope
Hope in your heart
That out love may revive"
Stefan: But I do not want her here with me. I want to be with you, Barbara.
Bobbie: What do you mean?
Stefan: I love you, Barbara. I want you to remain my wife.
Bobbie: Stefan, you can't be serious.
Stefan: I am, I'll show you.
Stefan took Bobbie into his arms and kissed her passionately.
"For life is but a chance
On a wind swept hill
And the seeds of love
Are swirling above
Let them be still"
Bobbie started to kiss Stefan back but then pulled away.
Bobbie: No, I can't do this. I'm sorry...
Stefan: Barbara…
Bobbie: I have to go.
Bobbie walked away from him and back into the Outback. Stefan stood there
alone, feeling like a fool for approaching Bobbie like that.
"But we're always suffering
Already lost

Already lost"
Stefan decided he had outstayed his welcome. He would go to Quinn, ask him to
leave a message with Katherine and then go.

Katherine kept going downhill until the car rode onto the ice-covered lake.
Eventually she stopped. She was breathing rapidly and felt like she was going
to faint. The ice could not support the weight of her car so the ice started to
crack until the car fell completely through forcing Katherine to let out another
scream. The car kept sinking to the bottom and Katherine tried opening the door
but the pressure of the water wasn't allowing her to get out.
Katherine: *crying* Oh God, help me.
Suddenly the windows smashed and water came rushing in. When the car was
completely filled with water, Katherine was finally able to get through the
window and swim to the top. But she was getting so tired and so cold she was
unconscious before she could make it the whole way. As she started to sink to
the bottom, someone grabbed her by the collar and pulled her to the top.

Jerry and V were sitting at a table at Luke's. Venus looked at her watch and
saw it was 11:59.
V: Why did you call me?
Jerry: I wanted to talk to you.
V: About what?
Jerry: About our relationship.
V: Your my friend's bother.
Jerry: It's more then that, V.
V: How much more do you think it is?
Jerry: V, I have deep feelings about you. I love you.
V: But we hardly know each other that well.
Jerry: That doesn't account for my feelings. Are you going to tell me you don't
feel the same way?
V: Look… I can't do this.
V stood up and was ready to leave. Jerry got up as well, to stop her.
Jerry: V, wait, don't go.
The crowd in the bar started to countdown.
"TEN!"
"NINE!"
V: Jerry, I'm sorry, but I just can't go into a relationship with you?
Jerry: Why not?
V: Just because…
"EIGHT!"
Jerry: Can I just do one thing before you leave?
"SEVEN!"
"SIX!"
V: What do you want to do?
"FIVE!"
Jerry walks closer to Venus.
"FOUR!"
Jerry pulls Venus to him.
"THREE!"
They both stare deeply into each other's eyes.
"TWO!"
They kiss.
"ONE! HAPPY NEW YEAR!"
Venus puts her arms around his neck and can't seem to pull herself away from
this. She was completely lost in his arms. Then finally, they pulled apart.
Jerry: Now if you can tell me that THAT did not mean anyth…
V: Jerry.
Jerry: Yes?
V: Shut up and kiss me.
Jerry smiles and kisses her once again.
