Chapter Nine
Laura put Lulu to bed and both of them sat on the couch just holding each other.
Luke took a deep breath and said, “My father arrived just after you left with
Alexis.”
“The monster. I presume he is living or you wouldn't be sitting here with me.
What happen?” She asked trying to keep the hate she felt for Luke's father under
control.
“He just wanted to taunt me and I almost fell for it. Some other cop and Taggert
were waiting outside when he left. Angel, I'm telling you this now and I mean
every word of it. We loose and I will kill my father before I let him near my
son. I don't care what they do to me after that. Nothing, not even death could
be as bad as living with that man.” Luke said pulling her close and trying to
get the face of his father out of his head.
“Luke it will not come to that. Alexis will win this case and your father will
regret ever coming back in your life,” Laura said.
“I hope so baby because I don't think what is left of the old Lucky could
survive any more time with my father,” Luke said. They both decided to turn in
early and get some kind of rest after the past couple of day's events. Luke was
wondering how the boys were doing with Sonny. He was glad that they had someone
who understood what they were going through with them.

While Luke and Laura were playing with Lulu, Lucky and Will were watching Sonny
cook. Lucky was still amazed that the Sonny ran the mob and cooked. “Who taught
you to cook?” Lucky asked him.
“My mother and I also spent a lot of time in the Cerulo Kitchen and picked up a
few things,” Sonny said putting a little more spice in the sauce.
“You have to teach dad to cook. He can't even boil water without doing something
wrong,” Lucky said laughing at the picture in his head.
“I heard he wasn't a good cook. I'm amazed you and him lived with Laura gone for
over a year,” Sonny said.
“I ate a lot at Kelly's and Aunt Bobbie helped out when she could,” Lucky said.
“Mr. Corinthos, what is going to happen now?” Will asked.
“Will, call me Sonny and I don't know what is going to happen. They are most
probably going to put Luke on trial but I don't see how they could get a
conviction. Luke has too many friends who know for a fact that he would never
hurt his son,” Sonny said.
“I hope you are right because if my father gets us back, he will kill us,” Will
said.
Lucky looked at his uncle and tried to get the picture of Lorenzo coming after
him from his head. Sonny put the spoon on the stove and walked over to where
they sat. He bent down between the boys and said, “I want the two of you to hear
me out. I am not going to let that man anywhere near you. If Luke does end up in
prison because of this, they are going to have to find Mr. Spencer and that is
going to be hard. I will make sure of that,” Sonny said his words full of cold
hate.
Lucky knew Sonny meant every word of it and relaxed just a little. Sonny put the
food on the table and they ate in silence. Sonny looked at them and saw the boy
he used to be and was determined to keep them from the same path because of some
man's hate. Lucky and Will helped clean up and they went into the living room to
watch a movie. Sonny put in a tape of Armageddon. Lucky looked at the mob boss
and was going to ask how but changed his mind. Sonny used to run everything in
Port Charles. So, why not have away to get a movie that hadn't been released yet
on tape.
The next day, Alexis woke up and headed down to breakfast. She was dreading this
because of what Stefan was going to say about her defending Luke. Stefan and
Nikolas were already at the table and Stefan looked up at her and said, “Good. I
have been waiting to talk to you. I have one question, sister. Have you lost
your mind? Defending Luke Spencer in this case,” Stefan said glaring at her.
“No. I haven't' lost my mind and Stefan, I don't care what you think. Laura
asked me to help and I am going to do just that. I spent last night fighting the
picture of what Lucky must have gone through with that monster of a grandfather
and I have come to one conclusion: Luke's father makes Helena look like the
parent of the year candidate,” Alexis said and poured herself a cup of coffee.
“How is he?” Nikolas asked.
“Lucky… he needs a lot of time to get over what was done to him and most
probably will carry the scars with him for the rest of his life. I think he
needs a friend right now. I could arrange a meeting with him if you want to
try,” Alexis said.
Stefan glared at Nikolas but didn't say anything. He was going to let him make
his own decision and was surprised to hear his answer. “I think I would like
that. Lucky and I aren't friends, but I would like to help any way I could,”
Nikolas said.
“I will have Luke call Sonny and set something up. I am going over to see him
now. He is on house arrest until this matter is cleared up and Stefan please
don’t make matters worse and try anything. I know you hate Luke but Lucky is
going to need him and that boy isn’t in any shape to handle any more problems
right now,” Alexis said.
“I will not do anything. Alexis, I am still not sure you should have taken this
case but I am not going to bring the matter up again,” Stefan said and headed
into his office.
