Chapter 1:

April 28, 2017

*+*Liz’s apartment above Kelly’s *+*

Liz fixed her hair, while looking at a mirror, she never realized how good she
looked at age thirty. There was a knock at the door. She goes to answer it,
‘wonder who it is?’ she asked herself.

“Emily?” She asked surprised, as she sees her best friend smiling at her.

“Hey, Lizzie, I’m sorry about Lucky.” she said softly.

“Em, I’m over it.” Liz shrugged, ‘maybe I’m not over it’ she thought to herself.

“How’s your hip?” Emily asked.

“Its better, kinda sore.” Liz said quietly.

“So, what about your job here at Kelly’s?” Emily asked. “You work here still?”

“No, not since the accident, I haven’t really found a job.” Liz explained.

“I’m so sorry, I know its been two years, I bet it was really hard for you
today.” She said softly, remembering this was the day of the fire four years
ago. Liz chooses to ignore her, she doesn’t understand the pain and suffering
she’s been through. ‘No, I have to be stronger than that’ Liz said to herself.
Tears started to roll down her cheeks, she quickly wiped them away. ‘No time for
crying, the damage has been done’ she said to herself.

“Liz?” Emily asked, still feeling sorry for her.

“Emily, I need to be alone.” Liz said coldly, she doesn’t mean to be mean, but
that’s how Liz’s mood matches her life. Dark and miserable.

“Liz, I was wondering if you’d like to with Nikolas, Marie, Dylan, and me to the
park on a picnic tomorrow.” She said, still trying. “You know, the whole gang.”

“No, that’s fine, please leave me alone!” Liz said with frustration. Emily looks
at Liz and shuts up. She doesn’t get hurt, she understands. ‘But why should she
be? She has a great husband? I mean what do I have? I have nothing…what’s my
purpose to live?’ Liz asked herself. Suddenly, as Liz locked the door, the phone
rang. Liz ran over to pick it up.

“Hello?” She answers.

“Lizzie, its Marie, Marty and Teresa are ready to go home.” Suddenly, Liz forgot
about feeling sorry for herself, ‘I do have a reason to live’ she smiles.

“Oh? please send them over.” Liz said smiling.

“All right, I’ll be there in five minutes.” Marie said.

“Bye.” Liz hung up the phone.

Before Lucky left Liz, she was pregnant with his child. Lucky left for a one
year without knowing about her pregnancy, because of a job he had to deal with
in the mob. Liz didn’t know if she was ever going to see him again. After Liz
gave birth, she had her sister, Sarah, take care of her baby, Marty. Then
occurred the fire. Lucky came back, the fire was meant for him, but Marty and
Liz were trapped, along with her grandmother and Sarah. All Lucky did was watch.
Liz thought she was going to die, as more debris fell down. Marty was only a
year old, and Liz was twenty-six. Marty was almost killed, but she risked her
life for him. The result, a fractured hip. But, Liz wasn’t the unlucky one in
the fire, no. Sarah was. Liz can still remember her sister crying in pain as she
knew her whole body was crushed under the debris. She remembered her daughter
crying out of fear.

“Take care of Teresa for me.” were Sarah’s last words.

Liz lost everything in that fire. She lost her sister, her house, and her
grandmother. All because of a fire that was meant for Lucky. ‘I’ll never forgive
him for what he did’ Liz said quietly to herself.
