Chapter 6:
Carly looked to Megan and smiled. "Megan, um where’s Michael?"
"Oh, he’s out with his friends." Megan smiled. "You know him."
"Yeah…well, I have to have him watch you…I’m going to New York for a while."
Carly explained.
"New York?" Megan crossed her arms and became upset. "Mom, I don’t want you to
leave."
"I know…but I have to." Carly said softly. "Please, be good for your brother."
"Oh, alright." Megan said quietly. She gave her mom a hug and left upstairs.
"Come back soon mom!" she called.
Carly nodded and watched as Megan walked to her room. She was going to get
Jason back… she just had to.

Laura looked to Liz in shock. "Wh… what?" she asked, "Did I just hear you say
that the child who is watching television in my living room this very second, is
my grandson?"
"Yeah…Laura, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner… it’s that I don’t want Lucky to
ever know." Liz lowered her head. "He and his job almost got Marty and I
killed."
"Oh, my—Liz I didn’t know…" Laura covered her mouth. "I didn’t know the fire
involved Lucky."
"I found out after, I got myself out of the house." Liz explained. "I saw him…"
"Lucky?"
"Yeah…he looked at me…I saw him run…then I blacked out." Liz closed her eyes.
"He never helped me…"
"Liz, I don’t think he meant to… maybe he had to leave… or maybe he did help you
when you blacked out." Laura said. "I don’t believe that my son would let the
love of his life and son die in front of his eyes, without helping."
"Lucky never knew about Marty…" Liz sighed. "If he comes back now, what am I
going to tell Marty?" Liz looked to her hands on her lap. "Marty thinks that
his father didn’t love him… I look at him and I see emptiness in his eyes…
something’s missing." Liz sighed. "He needs a father."
"Well, how are you doing with looking for someone to fill that position?" Laura
asked.
"I’m dating and getting nowhere." Liz said frustratingly. "Marty gets attached
to some of my dates… it breaks my heart to see him hurt to know he doesn’t have
a father." Liz sighed sadly. "I always thought Lucky was ‘Mr. Right’" Liz
smiled, causing tears to fill her eyes. "Was I wrong?"
"No—Liz you weren’t…as a matter of fact, I think you still have Lucky’s heart."
"No, he’s probably moved on…and that’s what I should do." Liz smiled.
"I know you can Liz…" Laura smiled.
"Laura I have to thank you… I want you to meet your grandson."
"I think I’d like that."
