Chapter 9:
Liz sat down on her couch, thinking to herself, when there was a knock. Liz got
up and answered the door.
"Hey, Em…" she said softly.
"Liz, what’s wrong?"
Liz looked up to Emily and collapsed. "I got evicted Em…I have to leave by
Saturday."
Emily took Liz into her arms and cried as well. She hated to see her best
friend suffer.
Liz pulled away and gave a smile. "What am I going to do Em?"
"What about Laura?" Emily asked. "I’m sure she would help."
"That’s the thing Em… Laura and Marty didn’t get on the right foot." Liz lowered
her head.
"What happened?" Emily asked.
"Marty didn’t take it well that Laura is Lucky’s mother." Liz explained.
"Marty didn’t even bother to say ‘good-bye’ to me."
"Oh, I’m sure he’ll deal with it."
"I hope so Em…I mean what if I see Lucky again?" Liz raised her hands with
frustration. "God, even I don’t think I’d handle it!"
"Liz, you have to think about that…I mean what if you do in fact see Lucky
again?" Emily asked. "You have to think what its going to do to Marty."
"I know…" Liz sighed. "Teresa didn’t care…I mean she knew about both her
parents dying, Laura isn’t her real grandmother…" Liz looked to Emily. "I don’t
know Em… I don’t know what I’m going to do."
Emily looked at Liz and smiled. "Well, I have some news for you."
"Is it one of those ‘Good news and bad news’ things?"
"No, this is actually good news." Emily smiled.
"Lay it on me." Liz gave a smile.
"Robin and Jason are getting married Saturday."
"What?" Liz looked at Emily in confusion. "I thought he left Robin for Carly…"
"Well, now that he found Carly in bed with someone else… he left Carly for
Robin." Emily giggled.
"I can’t believe him, I read that he has kids."
"He does… but he loves Robin."
"How long is that marriage going to last?" Liz laughed.
"Who knows." Emily laughed.
"So, what does this have to do with me?" Liz asked.
"Well, Jason told me to invite someone other than Dylan, so since you are my
best friend I would like it if you’d come."
"Watching other people crying over a beautiful wedding I’d never have, isn’t my
idea of fun."
"Don’t be so negative!" Emily pulled on Liz’s arm. "You have to go."
"Why? So I can get blown up at the church as well?" Liz joked.
"I doubt that."
"Em…" Liz whined. "How am I supposed to get a dress for myself and dress
clothes for both Marty and Teresa at the last minute?"
"Don’t worry, I’ll have that taken care of." Emily boasted.
"Oh really…"
"Yeah, what are friends for?"
"I’m not to sure anymore… dragging me to a wedding… and I’m not married myself
is a little ironic."
"Come on Liz." Emily jumped. "Lets go shopping."
Liz looked at Emily and glanced at her watch. "Okay, but I have to be here in
time to pick up Marty and Teresa."
Emily nodded and dragged Liz out of her apartment.
"Wait, I need my purse." Liz laughed.
"No need, I’ll take care of everything." Emily smiled. "You just look and pick
out what you want."
"Okay…" Liz smiled. "Lets go then."
Liz and Emily exited the apartment and giggled while heading down the stairs.
Liz felt young again, she was actually happy? Maybe she could get through
this…she was grateful for Emily’s friendship.
They exited out of Kelly’s, unaware that they were being watched.
*+*+*
A person looked from his newspaper, and watched the best friends exit. He got
up from his table and walked over to Mr. Caterly.
"Hello." The person smiled.
"What can I help you with sir?" Mr. Caterly asked.
"I was wondering if you would give me some information on Mrs. Elizabeth
Caruthers."
"Elizabeth Caruthers?"
"Yeah, her name was Elizabeth Webber, she’s married now."
"Oh, no!" he laughed. "You must have the wrong paper."
"What are you saying."
"Elizabeth Webber and Jared Caruthers separated, he acted to fast on proposing
to her… she left him at the altar. Well, so I heard."
"Oh."
"They were dating and nothing more. I don’t think Elizabeth even wants to get
married."
"That’s too bad."
"So, why did you want to know about her anyway? Are you an old chum? High school
sweetheart coming back to win her heart?"
"No…I wanted to know how she was doing that’s all… I was a friend of hers a
long time ago."
"Oh, all right then."
"Thank you for your time I have to go." The man smiled as he got up.
"Anytime, Hey I didn’t catch your name." Mr. Caterly looked at the man
strangely.
"Oh, Lucky, Lucky Spencer."
