Chapter 4
After talking to Riker and Troi, Robin got ready to be transported to the
Enterprise. The adjustment between 20th and 24th century life was always a shock
to the historians. And to Robin it was an even bigger adjustment. She was
conceived in the 20th century but was born in the 24th century where she lived
with Anna until the two of then returned to the 20th century in order for Anna
to become the field historian for Port Charles. Riker turned to Robin.
Riker: Ready?
Robin: Yes Commander.
Riker: Energize.
Robin then felt the transporter beam. A second later she was on the Enterprise.
She noticed LaForge who was handling the transporter.
Robin: (thinking) Welcome back to the 24th century Robin.
LaForge: The captain is waiting for us on the conference room.
Robin followed them to the bridge. She watches the people walking in the halls.
Her eyes are drawn to the Vulcan and other alien members of the crew. Troi
looked at Robin.
Troi: It’s an adjustment isn’t it?
Robin: The 24th century is so different from the 20th century. It’s not just the
technology. It’s seeing the alien races. The 20th century is earth based.
Troi: You are an alien yourself.
Robin: I am half-human just like you Deanna.
They arrive on the bridge. Robin looks around.
Riker: First time on the bridge.
Robin: I have never been on a Galaxy class starship. The bridge is much larger
then the bridge of the ships I have been on. (The bridge officer comes up to
Riker.)
Officer: They are waiting for you in the conference room sir.
Riker: Thank you.
Robin and the others enter the conference room. Picard comes up to Robin.
Picard: Ensign. It’s nice to meet you. I have met Admiral Scorpio and have heard
Mr. Scorpio's lecture on 20th century life. Would you join us?
Robin: Thank you Captain.
Robin sits down at the table. She is seated between Troi and Data. She stares at
Data.
Data: Is there something wrong?
Robin: Forgive me Commander.
Data: Call me Data.
Robin: I have heard a lot of you Data. I have seen 20th century Robots and you
are so different.
Picard: Data, would you fill Ensign Scorpio in on the situation.
Data: On stardate 46378.3 The Enterprise was returning to earth from a
historical research mission to 1492 earth. When we came back to 24th century
earth we discovered that there was no life on earth. Tricorder readings show
that there was a nuclear exchange on earth on December 15, 2042. We traced the
changes to Port Charles.
Robin: Any ideas on how the timeline was changed?
Data: I have a theory.
Robin: What is it?
Data tells Robin his theory.
