Chapter 5
Robin was in the conference room on the Bridge of the Enterprise She was with
the other senior officers. She took a seat next to Data. Data briefed her on
what caused the problem in the timeline. Data was about to explain his theory on
what has caused the change in the timeline.
Picard: What is your theory Data.
Data: I believe that the cause has to deal with the Dr. Jones trail.
Robin: What about the trial?
Data: Dr. Jones was found guilty of a very minor crime. Based on the evidence he
should have gotten 40 years in jail… I learned that one of his victims testified
in his favor. Maybe her testimony caused the change. Dr. Jones being found not
guilty of kidnapping might lead to the baby getting kidnapped again. And the
next time that baby will die.
Robin: The results of the trial do fall within the timeline Data.
Data: How do you know this Ensign?
Robin: Because I am the victim who testified in Tony's behalf. And I was ordered
to do it by starfleet.
Dr. Crusher: Why would Starfleet order you to do that?
Robin: Because in 2 years Tony will have another child. His grandson will be an
important diplomat. If Tony went to jail then his grandson will never be born.
So I have to do everything to make sure that Tony never went to jail.
Riker: Even though you don't like it?
Robin: He kidnaps me and almost gets me killed and I have to defend his actions.
I have to lie in open court and say that I was never in danger. And I am paying.
Many of my friends now hate me because I helped this crazy doctor. I am sorry.
This has been building inside me. This is the first chance I have had to express
my feelings.
Data: Your testimony did not set him free. Dr. Jones was set free because of a
woman named Helena Cassadine. She made sure that The District Attorney had to
avoid jail time for Dr. Jones.
Laforge: Is this the same Helena Cassadine from History?
Robin: It’s the same woman who was able to get a federation weather modification
machine. And used it to freeze Port Charles.
Picard: So since she is interested in Dr. Jones we have to assume that this has
to do with the child he kidnapped. We need to watch over him. Any ideas?
Troi looks at Robin She speaks to Robin telepathically. Robin is able to hear
Troi's thoughts.
Troi: You know what you have to do Robin.
Robin: I know. (Out loud) I have an idea Captain.
Robin tells everyone her idea.
