Chapter 6
Liz slowly walked up to Lucky's Hospital room. She could see through the window
that Luke and Laura were asleep in chairs, so she quietly walked in. Her eyes
looked around, then focused on Lucky's form. He was sleeping, but was pale and
had and IV in his arm. Monitors were around him, making light noise. 'He still
looks beautiful' Liz thought to herself and smiled. She walked over to the bed,
and sat down in the chair.
Liz: "Hi Lucky…" How stupid is this, Liz thought, Lucky was sleeping he probably
couldn't hear her. Liz frowned and casts her eyes towards the floor. Then she
heard a sound… kind of like a groan.
Liz looks up: "Lucky? Lucky are you awake? Can you hear me?" Liz watched Lucky
intently, as his eyelids flutter and he moves restlessly. Lucky, with eyes still
closed whispers: "Elizabeth… is that you?" Liz smiles and stops the tears that
are coming to her eyes.
Liz: "Yeah… how are you feeling? Can you open your eyes for me Lucky?"
Lucky struggles to open his eyes. They feel so heavy, and he isn't sure where he
is. All he knows is he feels like hell. But Liz is asking him to open his eyes,
he sure as hell isn't going to disappoint her. Lucky forces his eyes open, then
blinks a few times, trying to refocus. Soon he sees Liz's face in front of him
and he smiles.
Lucky: "Hey."
Liz: "Hey there. You never answered my question."
Lucky: "What question?"
Liz: "How do you feel?"
Lucky groans, and notices his surroundings. He's in a hospital, in a hospital
bed.
Lucky: "What the he… why am I here?"
Liz: "You practically passed out on my floor Lucky, that’s why. You're sick."
Lucky smirks.
Lucky: "Yeah, well I should be going soon, I feel fine." A total lie, but he
hates hospitals.
Luke: "You’re sure about that, Cowboy?" Luke stands up and comes face to face
with his son.
Lucky: "Dad… what are you doing here?" Liz looks at father and son and decides
to come back later.
Liz: "I'll come back later, you get better." Liz leans over and kisses Lucky on
the cheek, then walks out of the room, only to find herself face to face with
Nikolas.

Luke: "What am I doing here? I'm your father, boy!"
Lucky: "Could have fooled me 'Dad'"
Luke: "Hey! Your mother is in the room! I will not have you talking to me like
this!"
Laura wakes up and wonders why Luke is shouting, and at who. Then she sees
Lucky, with his eyes open and a big smile crosses her face.
Laura: "Lucky! Your awake!" Laura runs over to Lucky and gives him a hug. Lucky
doesn't resist, but doesn't return the gesture either. Laura frowns, but doesn't
give up. She sits down in the chair.
Laura: "So how are you feeling?"
Lucky shrugs: "Fine I guess, my chest hurts, but that’s probably from your hug."
Laura smiles and wipes the tears out of her eyes. Bobbie waltzes in once again,
glad to see Lucky awake.
Bobbie: "Lucky! Hey there! Glad to see your eyes open. Now, let me examine you."
Bobbie takes his pulse, vitals, then his temperature. She frowns at the readout
but covers it up.
Laura: "Bobbie, Lucky said his chest hurts, can you check that out." Bobbie
nods.
Bobbie: "Lucky, does anything else hurt?"
Lucky: "I have a headache, and I'm really tired."
Bobbie: "Then we should probably let you get some more sleep. Luke, Laura, can I
speak with you outside?" Bobbie ruffles
Lucky's hair, and leaves the room with Luke and Laura.
Luke: "Barbara Jean, what’s going on?"
Bobbie: "I think I know what’s wrong with Lucky."

An old woman smiles, as she watches the scene play out between the Spencer
family. The time has come.
