Emily runs into Lizzy at the lockers. She's not too sure how to
approach Lizzy with the news that she and Lucky are now a couple. She
figures just coming out with it would be the best way...
"Hey, Lizzy!" Emily says cheerfully. She notices that Lizzy looks
peculiarly happy for a Monday morning.
"Hey Em!" Lizzy responds. She's grinning from ear to ear. "How was
your weekend? Better yet, how was your Valentine's Day? I hear you and
Lucky spent Valentine's Day together. How was it?"
Emily approaches the subject cautiously. "Well, it was good. We had a
great time."
Lizzy slams her locker and faces Emily, grinning. "You know, I've
heard through the grapevine that you two are a couple now. I think
that's really great, Em. You and Lucky deserve each other.
Emily is floored by Lizzy's genuine sincerity. "Thanks, Lizzy...um, I
guess news gets around fast..."
"Good news!" Lizzy interrupts her. "Oh come on, Em, everyone knows
that you and Lucky are inseparable. Even when he was going through
his little stint of being obsessed with Sarah, I knew he would come
around and grab his senses again. You two were made for each other."
"Thanks, Lizzy." Emily is amazed at Lizzy's behavior. "So, what did
you do for Valentine's Day?"
Lizzy breaks out in a smile. "I had the most incredible Valentine's
Day...you wouldn't believe! I met this guy..."
"Really, who?" Emily cuts her off. "Is he in any of our classes...come
one, Liz, who is he?"
Lizzy looks at Emily, shaking her head. "No, dear, he's not in any of
our classes. He's already out of High School."
Emily raises her eyebrows. "Really? So...he's older than you, I
assume?"
"Yes, he is and he's gorgeous!" Lizzy and Emily both squeal with
excitement. " His name is...Alex and he's great!" Lizzy hopes Emily
wouldn't know Garcia on a first-name-basis.
"Alex, huh? Well, when can we meet this Alex, or is he going to remain
a mystery man?" Emily asks, nudging Lizzy with her elbow. "Come on,
you can't keep him a secret forever."
Lizzy defends herself. "Well...see, I don't know, when he'll get time
off work to meet you guys..."
"Work!" Emily screams. She realizes she's drawing attention so she
leans into Lizzy and whispers, "How old is this guy?"
Lizzy suddenly has extreme interest in her shoes. "Well, he's
around...in his late twenties, I don't know reall..."
"Lizzy!" Emily can't believe what she's hearing.
Lizzy looks indignant. "What? What is the problem?
Emily sighs. "Nothing...nothing at all. Well, maybe we'll meet him at
your Sweet 16 Party. That's in a few weeks, right?"
"Oh, I don't know..." Lizzy says. "I don't think he would be able to
associate or 'fit in' with that adolescent crowd."
Emily laughs. "Yeah, I guess everyone will realize he's older when
he's the only guy there with a hairy chest!"
Lizzy turns to her, pleading. "Look, I don't mind if you tell anyone
about him, but just don't spill the beans about his age, okay?
Especially, not Sarah. She'll blab to Gram and...I mean, everyone
might not understand like you..."
"Who said I understood?" Emily asks. "I'm shocked, I'm
speechless...understanding is not what I'm doing right now..."
"Don't worry, Em. I can take care of myself. Besides, he's a respected
citizen of Port Charles..." Lizzy looks Emily in the eyes. "He's
really a great guy, Em. You'll meet him soon, I promise. As a matter
of fact," Lizzy digs in her jeans pocket and pulls out a quarter. "I'm
going to go give him a call right now. " Just then Lucky walks up to
them.
"Hey Lizzy!" Lucky smiles at her. He reaches over and grabs Emily's
hand. "Hey you," he says as he leans over and gives Emily a quick peck
on the lips. He looks a little uncomfortable with this public display
of affection.
Lizzy watches this exchange and longs even more to run to the
telephone. "Well, I'll see you guys later." She turns to Lucky.
"Congratulations, Lucky!" With that, she bounces off to call Garcia.
Lucky turns to Emily, confusion written on his face. "What was that
all about? She looks like she's about to burst..."
"Lizzy's got a boyfriend!" Emily tells him. "His name is Alex and she
says..." Emily remembers her pact with Lizzy and quickly covers
herself. "...he's really gorgeous. Probably NOT as gorgeous as you, of
course." She leans against the lockers, blushing slightly at her own
words.
"You're blushing again, Em." Lucky moves in closer to her, draping his
arm over her locker door.
"Em, uh...did I embarrass just now...when I came over just now and
kissed you in front of Lizzy? I didn't mean to, I just...did it... I
guess I wasn't thinking."
Emily looks at him as if though he's lost his marbles. She whispers
back to him, "Lucky, I don't care if we were standing in front of the
President...you can kiss me anytime, anywhere..."
Lucky moves in closer. "Be careful how much freedom you give me, it
may not be good..." He leans in and kisses Emily softly. Lucky
temporarily forgets where he is and puts his arm around her waist and
pulls her in for a deeper kiss.
They're both brought back to reality when they hear a few whistles and
whoops from the other students walking by. Lucky breaks the kiss and,
cheeks coloring, peeks over his shoulder at the crowd, then looks down
at the floor.
Emily bends down to meet his eyes. "Now, who's blushing?" she says
with a smile.
Lucky looks up at her, smiling. "I guess I have to get use to this
whole boyfriend/girlfriend thing. You know, the public displays of
affection, the hand holding, the kissing..."
Emily smiles at him. "Well, you know what they say about not being
used to something...the more you do it the easier it becomes." With
that, she lifts his face and kisses him again, and again. She pulls
away and looks past him.
"See? The crowd is getting used to us already. Soon we'll reach the
'they're so boring' status and we'll be lost in the crowd just like
the other couples in this school."
Lucky looks into her beautiful brown eyes. "Really? Then I guess we'll
have to stay together until we reach that old, run-of-the-mill stage.
"I'm not going anywhere..." Emily whispers.
Lucky smiles at her. "Neither am I."
The bell rings, bringing them both back to the moment. Lucky backs
away and Emily turns to get her last book from her locker and shuts
the locker with a bang. She stands there a second, lost in thought.
Lucky looks at her. "Em? What's up?"
Emily turns to face him. "Do you realize that just one week ago today,
we were at this very spot, standing here just like this, and I had no
idea that one week later, I would be your girlfriend.
"Talk about fate." Lucky says, smiling. "I'm glad I didn't let you get
away." He kisses her again.
The late bell rings and Lucky pulls away from her. "Ooops, come on,
let's go." He takes her hand and they rush off to Chemistry together.

Liz is on the pay phone at Kelly's and she's on hold, again. She's
been trying to get through to Detective Garcia since yesterday, but
he's been in interrogations and couldn't be interrupted. 'He's so
important' Liz thought to herself. She still didn't see why he had to
be so tied up on the weekend. 'Don't they EVER give him a break down
there?'
Just then, someone returned to the line. "Miss, I'll transfer you to
Detective Garcia now."
"Thank you." Lizzy waits, her palms are starting to sweat.
Garcia picks up the other extension, very tense from interrogation,
playing 20 questions with a uncooperative burglar. "Detective Garcia."
He says in a deep voice.
Lizzy almost faints at the sound of his voice. "Hello, Alex?"
"Speaking..." Garcia says. He recognizes the voice. "Elizabeth?"
Lizzy is thrilled that he remembered her. "You remembered my voice?"
Garcia whole demeanor softens as he remembers the pretty young lady.
His voice is velvet smooth. "How could I forget? I didn't know if you
would call me or not, I was beginning to wonder if you were just
leading me on."
"Oh, I would never..." Lizzy is trying to collect herself. She thought
she would be able to handle speaking to him over the phone, but his
voice had the same hypnotic effect on her as in person. "I would have
called you sooner but, I've been extremely busy. I'm sorry if I made
you think otherwise."
Garcia smiles. "Well, I'll forgive you if you agree to have dinner
with me tomorrow night? That is, if you can fit me into your busy
schedule?"
Lizzy almost squeals with excitement, but then she remembered she is
supposed to be a mature adult. She tries to replay the flirtatious
attitude she had with him the other night. "How could I possibly
refuse such a strong, handsome man such as yourself? I would love to
have dinner with you again, Alex."
Lizzy remembers that going out would pose a threat to her undercover
identity. She thinks fast and plunges in for the kill. "Alex, is it
possible that maybe we could stay indoors for dinner tomorrow night?"
"Sure? What do you have in mind?" Garcia asks, suggestively.
Garcia's tone sends a shiver down her spine. 'I wish he would stop
making me melt' Lizzy thought to herself. She turns to see Sarah enter
Kelly's and she turns her back to her and tries to hurry the
conversation.
"What's your address?" Lizzy blurted out, taking her order pad and
pencil from her apron.
Garcia was taken aback by her boldness. "Well, since you just came
right out and asked for it I guess I'll just come right out and give
it to you..."
"Oh, I'm sorry, was I being too forward?" Lizzy apologized.
Garcia laughs. "No problem. You are being forward...but I like a woman
who knows what she wants."
Lizzy smiles as she writes down his address. "Okay, I got it. 7:00pm
tomorrow night, okay?"
"Okay, tomorrow night it is." Garcia says. Then he asks, "How would
you like me to cook dinner for you?
"You? Cook for me? That would be perfect." Lizzy thought the
suggestion was so sweet.
"Great! Then we're on for tomorrow night." Garcia says. "Hey, will
this be casual attire?"
Lizzy thinks for a moment, then decides to throw it at him. "Sure, I
can do casual...but just make sure you're as gorgeous and as sexy as I
remember you."
Garcia loved the way this woman flirted. He whispers into the phone.
"Till then, Cara Mia."
Lizzy almost looses her footing at the sensual Spanish dialect. No guy
had ever called her 'My Dear' before. Lizzy found it so...sexy.
"Okay, uh...maņana! Bye!" Lizzy hangs up just in time to turn and
practically knock Sarah over.
"Oh, Lizzy, gosh...hi. Have you seen Nikolas? I'm supposed to meet him
here."
Lizzy, trying to stop smiling, says, "No, haven't seem the Greek god
today at all!"
Sarah looks at Lizzy strangely, "Lizzy, why are you standing here
grinning at me? What's going on? You've been in an incredibly good
mood since like, all week."
Lizzy walks past Sarah, concealing Garcia's address on her notepad.
"Oh, no reason, really. Just happy for a change." Lizzy starts
clearing tables. Nikolas walks in.
"Oh Sarah, your highness is here!" She smiles at Nikolas, who smiles
back and waves his hand at her, ignoring her bashing. He walks over to
Sarah and wraps his arms around her. Lizzy watches this and, for the
first time, doesn't feel a pang of lonely jealousy.
She walks over to them, carrying a tray of dishes. She clears her
throat. "Ahem, excuse me, but I think you're making the customers
ill...could you please take this elsewhere?" She laughs and runs off
as Nikolas attempts to strangle her with his scarf. He and Sarah take
a table and sit.
When they're settled, Sarah takes Nikolas' hand and asks him, "So, how
are you today?"
"Fine." Nikolas says. He realizes that, the more relaxed and happier
he is, the easier it is for him to speak. "And you?"
Sarah smiles at him. "I'm doing fine. I've bought you something..."
She releases his hands and reaches down in her bag.
Nikolas peers over the table. "I...I hope, not a...nother sweater."
Sarah looks at him and playfully slaps his hand, remember the condom
incident. "Very funny, Nikolas!" She pulls out a video cassette and
hands it to him.
Nikolas takes the video and looks at the cover. "Gone With...the
Wind?" He looks up at her, puzzled.
"It's an American classic." Sarah looks at him sincerely. "I thought,
maybe after all the therapy you're going through and the reading
you're doing...maybe you would just want to, you know, sit and watch a
movie. That way, you won't have to read or talk...we can just sit and
enjoy each other...no stress, no obligations..." Sarah looks at him,
hoping for approval. "I hope I'm not being too pushy..."
Nikolas takes her by the hands and pulls her to him across the table
in a kiss. Sarah takes this as approval.
Lizzy comes out from the kitchen, seeing the two joined in the kiss.
"Oh, please...come on, you're making the customers wanna heave!" She
laughs and walks back into the kitchen.
Sarah and Nikolas pull away from each other, staring into each other's
eyes.
Sarah speaks first. "Maybe Lizzy's right, we should get out of here."
Nikolas smiles at her, He holds up the video. "Movie?"
"Popcorn?" Sarah stares at him, reveling in how much she loves this
guy.
Nikolas stands. "Let's go." With that, they both grab their coats and
leave.
Sarah calls out to Lizzy. "Bye Lizzy, Tell Gram I'll be home later."
Lizzy comes from the kitchen. "Don't worry, I'll cover for you. Bye!"
Lizzy watches them walk out, smiling and laughing. She felt genuine
happiness for Sarah and Nikolas, she hoped she would have that kind of
love one day.
She thought about her date tomorrow night. "We'll see..."
