It's 2:30am and Emily and Lucky are sleeping soundly. Lucky lies
there, a smile at the corners of his mouth as his eyes dance under his
eyelids. Usually, most of his dreams wake him in the middle of the
night, leaving him restless. Obviously, this is a dream he is
enjoying...
Lucky takes Emily in his arms and kisses her slowly, deeply.. Emily
returns his passion as she begins to undo the buttons on his shirt.
"Are you sure you want this, Em?" He asks her, praying she would give
him the right answer.
Emily looks into his eyes. "I've never been more sure of anything."
She gets to the last button and Lucky feels his shirt drop from his
shoulders to the floor. Her lips find his again and this time, he's
reaching for the loops that held her blouse together. The blouse
falling away reveals the lace and silk that Lucky had to sneak quick
peaks at millions of times before, whenever Emily opened one button
too many or carelessly fanned her shirt. But here it was, unveiled
before his eyes, but never did he expect this revelation of beauty.
His breath caught in his throat as she came forward and started
placing butterfly kisses along his chest.
"Make love to me, Lucky..." Emily whispered against his chest. Her
voice sounded sure, but she was trembling in his arms...
Luke silently cursed himself for being so careless as he made his way
back to his home. 'How could I leave my passport...of all things?' he
tells himself as he walks up on the porch. He sneaks into the house
quietly, trying not to wake Lucky. He figured he'd been asleep for
awhile. Maybe he would go in and sneak a look at his boy before he
left...
Lucky wasn't sure if the knots in his stomach were from nerves or
excitement. He lifts Emily and, in one swift move, carries her over
to the bed and lies her down on the pillows. He looks down in her
eyes, eyes that were trying not to show her fear...and eyes that
showed all the passion a 14-year-old could possess.
"I want you so much, Emily." Lucky says as he bends to trail kisses
along her throat. Emily wraps her arms around him and arches herself
closer...
Luke quietly runs upstairs and heads for his bedroom. He walks in and
sees his passport just where he left it - so he wouldn't forget it -
on the dresser next to his new cell phone number he had intended to
give to Lucky before he left. Now he would have to go in and see the
boy. Luke smiled, glad he had an excuse now to see Lucky again and
tell him how much he loved him. Also to let him know just how proud he
was of how well he is handling the present situation with his family.
Luke knew this had been hard on him, but Lucky had been a champ
through it all.
Luke grabs the passport and number and heads to Lucky's room.
Emily rolls over on Lucky and starts to kiss him, everywhere. She
starts again at his lips, her brown mane falling over her face,
tickling him as her kisses moved down to his neck. She grabs his hands
from around her waist and pins them down to the bed, over his head.
Lucky laughed lightly. "Emily, you've got to stop watching 'Melrose
Place'...it's really having an effect on you."
Emily looked down at him, looking incredibly older than her 14 years.
"Would that effect be good or bad?" She asked as she started to move
her kisses from his neck down to his chest, nibbling small bites along
the path.
Lucky would have laughed again but this time he was too busy trying to
keep himself from loosing consciousness.
"Oh, Em..." Lucky moaned as he squirmed beneath her. 'Oh Em, don't
stop...don't stop...'
Luke walks up to Lucky's door, stopping when he hears talking. He can
hear Lucky's voice, trying to make out what he's saying. He's not one
to snoop, but he puts his ear to the door as he hears moaning...
"Oooh, don't stop, Em..."
Luke's face pales as he finally realizes what must be going on behind
this door. He didn't know whether to burst into the room and stop this
or just stand there and fill with pride at his son's Spencer way with
women. Considering Lucky's only 16, he decided the pride thing had
about another five years to kick in.
On the other side of the door...
Emily stirs, hearing Lucky moaning inaudibly.
"Ummm, what'd you say, Lucky?" Stretching in his arms, she turns to
look up at him and realizes that he's still asleep.
Luke, hearing another voice - Emily's - decides it's now or never. He
bursts into the room, switching on the light. Emily jumps up
screaming, not knowing who this could be bursting into the room
at...oh no, what time was it?
Lucky pulls himself out of his fantasy and opens his eyes at Emily's
scream. He bolts up and looks around to see Luke standing there with a
look of horror and fear in his eyes.
Luke speaks first. "Can I ask what the hell is going on in here?"
Emily scrambles to regain her composure. "Mr. Spencer...what are you
doing here?"
Luke smirks at Emily. "I don't mean to sound mocking...young lady, but
shouldn't I be asking you that question at 2:30am?"
Emily's face registers horror. "Oh no, please tell me it's not 2:30 in
the morning!" She looks at Lucky, who is sitting there, trying to
figure out if what he experienced earlier was a dream or reality.
"I'm so sorry, Mr. Spencer..."
"Dad, I thought you were going to Switzerland?" Lucky asked.
Luke huffs. "Oooh boy, I just bet you did..."
"Dad...we were just sleeping..."
"It didn't sound like you were sleeping in here to me!" Luke turns to
Lucky. "Would you mind explaining to me what's going on here,
Cowboy...or should I say 'Loverboy'..."
Lucky, finally realizing that he had been dreaming, leaned back
against the headboard, both sorry but relieved that it had all been a
dream. Luke, seeing the traces of a grin on his son's face, starts to
lose his patience.
"Lucky, are you going to explain yourself?" Luke says, bringing Lucky
back to reality.
Lucky looks at Luke. "Hey, Dad...why are you so upset? We were just
sleeping..."
"I heard more that just sleeping two seconds ago. I heard the both of
you in here...now, who's gonna tell me what was going on?" Luke sits
down in the chair by the window, suddenly feeling very old.
Emily, who has been standing there speechless, wondering what medieval
punishment she would face when she got back home, finally speaks up.
"Mr. Spencer..."
"Luke, child...please, call me Luke, I need to feel as young as
possible right now."
"Alright...Luke" Emily says, not feeling comfortable on first-name
basis with her boyfriend's father. "I came over earlier tonight and we
watched TV, we ate popcorn, and then we must have fallen asleep..."
Luke was taking in this explanation as truth until he realized that
Emily was wearing Lucky's clothes. He looks back to Lucky, who seems
to be glued in bed. "Cowboy, is this true?"
Lucky turns to Luke. "Of course, Dad."
"Then can you explain why Ms. Quartermaine here is wearing your
clothes?" Luke looks at Lucky. "Are you dressed?"
Lucky looks at his father as if he were crazy. "Of course I am, Dad,
why wouldn't I be?"
Luke turns back to Emily. "Now, let's try this again. What really
happened in here tonight? I just heard you and Lucky through that door
and he was pleading for you not to stop doing...who knows what..."
"Dad, was dreaming..." Lucky interjects. He face colored brightly,
and Luke finally figured out why Lucky seemed to not want to leave the
confines of the bed.
Luke smiles at his boy. "Must've been one hell of a dream." Luke sits
there smiling, then stops as he realizes Emily is still there.
Luke decides it's about time he acted like a parent. "Just tell me one
thing, you two...honestly." Emily and Lucky both nod, Luke continues.
"Well, there's no other way to put this but bluntly so..." Luke takes
a deep breath. "Are you two having sex?"
Emily turns twenty different shades of red and Lucky sits there,
shocked that his father would ask him something like that, especially
in front of his girlfriend.
Just then, the doorbell rings. Luke sits up with a start, wondering
who could possibly be ringing his doorbell at almost three in the
morning. He moves to go downstairs as Lucky, seeing it was now safe to
come from under the covers, follows right on his heels.
"Dad, let me explain..." Lucky says on his way downstairs as Luke
opens the front door. He is shocked to have the Quartermaines barge
right in to his living room.
"Well, come right on in," Luke looks at them, sarcastically, "make
yourselves at home. Care for a spot of tea..."
"Where the hell is my daughter?" Alan cuts Luke off. Alan then sees
Lucky standing behind Luke, looking a little more guilty than usual.
"Or should I be asking your son that question?" Lucky starts to make a
comment when Emily rushes down the stairs.
"Did I hear Alan...Oh no." she stops short as she sees Alan, Monica
and Grandfather standing in the Spencer living room.
Edward steps forward. "What the hell...Emily get down here this
instant!"
Emily walks over to Edward. Monica gasps when she sees Emily's
wardrobe. Emily follows Monica's gaze and realizes she still has on
Lucky's clothes. 'This looks really bad' she thought to herself.
Emily figured she'd better talk up fast. "Mom, I can explain..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Everyone stands there, waiting for Emily to explain why she is at her
boyfriend's house at 3:00am in his clothes.
Emily realizes there's nothing to tell but the truth - which wasn't
much, really. Emily looks from her parents, her grandfather, to
Luke...then her gaze falls on Lucky. She gives him a 'deer caught in
the headlights' look. Lucky decides it was time for him to step in
and defend Emily before she had to try to defend herself.
Lucky walks over to Emily. "Look, everyone, I can explain
everything..."
"I don't want to hear anything you have to say, you ...you corruptible
little..." Edward says, as he tries to grab at Lucky. Emily and Lucky
both back away from Edward, only to bump right into Luke, who had come
up behind them. Suddenly, Lucky felt as if he and Emily were on trial,
and there was nothing to even deliberate.
Luke spoke up, evenly and calmly. "Alright, alright everyone. Let's
just stop and listen to what they have to say..."
"To what they have to say?" Alan chides in. "I don't have time to
listen to anything but your son telling me why he has my daughter here
3:00 in the morning...and why you thought it was okay!" Alan throws
Lucky a glare, causing Lucky to shrink.
Luke steps in front of Alan. "Hold on a minute! If you think I'm going
to stand here and let you rag on me AND my son like that, you'd better
think again, Bubba!" Alan and Luke continue to exchange words and
Edward begins to interject, while Monica is standing there, shaking
her head, wondering where she went wrong.
It was all Lucky could take. He turns and goes upstairs. Emily is
wondering why he would leave her down here to fend for herself.
Alan's eyes followed Lucky upstairs. "And where is he going? We're not
finished here!" Alan turns to Emily. "You see? Do you see how he's
deserted you in a jam? Is that the kind of relationship you want,
someone who can't even defend you when you need him..."
"Will you all just please be quiet for one minute!" Emily screams as
she puts her hands over her ears. Everyone stops talking and look at
Emily. She goes on. "If everyone would calm down, I can explain..."
"There's no need for that, Em." Lucky comes back downstairs, with the
outfit that Emily had on earlier. He comes to stand right next to her,
holding the clothing high for all to see.
Lucky starts slowly. "Emily came over, we had pizza, whatever. I
dropped the pizza on her outfit, she figured it could be saved if she
got the stain out immediately ...apparently it didn't work, as you can
see from the stain right here." He points to the pizza stain on her
outfit and continues. "I gave her something to put on while this
outfit was hanging to dry. We went back into my room, watched some TV,
then we ended up falling asleep. She was just going to take a quick
nap and then I was going to bring her home. But as you see, we fell
asleep and slept until my Dad...who was NOT here by the way, came back
for whatever reason..."
"I forgot my passport." Luke says. "And a good thing I did, because
these Quartermaines would have come here to crucify you and I wouldn't
have been here."
Alan looks at Luke unbelievably. "So you believe this story?"
"My son doesn't lie to me." Luke says. He turns to Lucky. "And what I
heard through that door..."
"I was dreaming Dad." Lucky tried to give him the signal not to bring
this up. "I must have been talking in my sleep..."
"And then I woke up and asked him what he said, only to realize he was
still asleep." Emily added. "That must've been when you heard my
voice.
Alan turns to Monica "Do you believe this story, Monica?"
Monica looks at Lucky. "Well, I know that Lucky is not a liar and I
trust my daughter." She turns to Emily. "Is what Lucky's saying the
truth, Emily?"
"Yes, Mom, it's the whole truth." Emily feels relieved that someone
actually believes them.
Monica breathes for the first time in fifteen minutes. "Then I believe
them." Alan groans in disgust. "Oh Alan, come on, look at them. I
couldn't believe they were no more sexually active than..." Monica
looks around at all the adults that are staring at her, as if she were
the most naïve woman alive. She rethinks her reply. "...well, I mean,
I don't really know, but..."
"Dr. Quartermaine, may I say something?" Lucky interjects. Monica
nods. Lucky looks around at everyone, deciding it's time to defend
himself and the girl that meant the world to him.
Lucky begins. "Everyone, I know what you all see here looks pretty
bad, and I can't blame you all for being suspicious. I'm sure there
are a million questions running around in your heads right now and I
intend to put a stop to them." He looks at Emily, who has that little
kitten look again. He realizes he would move the earth for her if he
could. He takes her hand in his, sending her signals that everything
was going to be alright.
He continues. "I can only speak truthfully when I tell you
that...Emily means everything to me. She's what has gotten me through
these past few months, with my parents being here half the time and I
not knowing what's going on in my own head. I would never do anything
to hurt your daughter or granddaughter. Emily is a wonderful and
responsible young lady and I would never try to get her to do
something she wouldn't want to do."
Lucky looks around at everyone. "I know the question of whether or
not Emily and I are having sex has crossed all of your minds at one
time or another, so let me set your minds at ease." He looks a little
embarrassed by what he's about to admit. He notices that everyone else
is looking a little uncomfortable, too.
"I have never had sex with Emily...nor with anyone else, for that
matter." He responds to the shock registered on all of the
Quartermaine faces. "Yes, Emily and I are both virgins....and for what
it's worth, we're planning to keep it that way for a long, long time.
Emily is my world, I don't want to jeopardize loosing her, I can't. If
you knew how much I cared about her, you would never question my
respect for her."
He turns to Emily. "I'm sorry, Em...sorry for all of this." With
that, Lucky turns and goes upstairs.
The Quartermaines stand there, feeling ashamed that a 15-year old had
to put them in their place.
Emily walks over to Monica. "I'll be right back." She whispers. She
turns to go upstairs, then turns back. " You all know that I need
him...like the air I breathe, but I'm not ready to have sex with him.
I hope you can all learn to trust us and not always accuse us." She
then heads upstairs after Lucky.
They all stand around, Luke speaks up. "That's some little lady you
have there, Monica."
"And that's quite a young man you have yourself, Luke." Monica grins.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Emily walks back into Lucky's room to find him sitting in the window
frame, staring out at the dark. She doesn't know what to say, so she
goes around the other side of the bed and picks up her sandals and
bag. She comes to stand in front of him.
"They really do like you, Lucky, they've told me so. It's just that
they are a little over-protective of me..."
"I know, I know." Lucky says as he turns to face her. He seems
suddenly deflated. He looks up into her eyes. "I just wish they really
could understand how I feel about you."
"I understand, Lucky." Emily says. She drops her things and throws her
arms around him, he wraps his arms around her waist and hugs her
tightly.
She holds on to him for dear life. "I love you so much..."
The words were out before she had time to retract them. She wondered
if she had made a mistake. She was always told to let the guy reveal
what he's feeling first. '...If a girl spills her beans first, then
the guy will NEVER let the girl know how he feels'. She suddenly
felt...she wasn't sure, fear - of revealing too much? What?
Lucky could feel Emily tensing. He pulls away and looks in her eyes.
He sees the doubt in them, as if she may have revealed more than she
really intended to. Lucky shakes his head at her as he smiles.
"Emily, don't you know how much I love you?
Emily, not sure what to say, stands there looking in his eyes. She
wanted to believe that she had heard correctly, but she wasn't too
sure...
"I love you, Emily." Lucky says, cutting into her thoughts. "I love
you so much sometimes...I can't even breathe." He feels himself
starting to shiver. He blames it on the emotional roller coaster he's
just been on with everyone, he doesn't realize it only happens when
he's near her. He kisses her softly, hating to let her go, but not
wanting to chance seeing Alan running upstairs with a baseball bat...
"We'd better get you downstairs." He says after he breaks the kiss. As
she moves away from him, he reaches down and picks up her bag. He
looks at her in his shorts again, letting out a low whistle. "You do
look great in my shorts, Em."
Emily steps into her sandals and takes her bag from him. "They could
still stand to be a little more loose. Guess it was that third slice
of pizza, huh?"
Lucky laughs. "No, I guess it's called 'curves', something us guys
don't have." He puts his hands on her hips and brings her close to
him. "Nor do we have nice, big thighs..."
"Cut that out!" She swats at him playfully. She stares at him for a
moment, recalling the earlier incident. "Lucky? What were you
dreaming about...earlier tonight when your father walked in? Lucky
felt the color rush up from his neck.
Emily sort of got the idea. She went on. "Was it about me?"
He looks at her with a sheepish grin. "Uh huh...and me."
"Really?" Emily started to smile. She was hoping he would say that.
She wraps her arms around him neck again. "Tell me about it."
Lucky shakes his head violently. "No, no, no...I don't think so."
Emily ran her fingers through his hair. "Come on, Lucky, tell me..."
"I'm not going to tell you!" Lucky teased her. "There's no way I'm
going to tell you what we were doing in that dream..."
"What we were doing?!?" Emily's eyes got wide and she started to blush
slightly. "What were we doing, Lucky?"
Lucky kissed her playfully. "Nothing we'll be doing any time soon,
that's for sure."
Emily gave up the battle. "Okay, I fold. Maybe you'll tell me one
day." She looked at him seriously. "Then, could you do me another
favor, Lucky?"
"Anything..." Lucky says.
Emily smiles at him. "Could you say it again...please? I just want to
make sure I heard right."
"What? That you have healthy thighs..."
"Lucky!"
Lucky laughs out loud at her blushing. He stands and, face to face, he
tells her, "I love you, Emily Bowen-Quartermaine... I love you with
all my heart."
Emily could feel her chest constricting. She was not going to get
mushy and cry. "I love you, too...Lucas Lorenzo Spencer the 2nd." She
laughs. "No wonder you call yourself Lucky, it's much simpler."
Lucky takes her hand in his. "Come on, let's go." They go downstairs
to rejoin the clan that was waiting for them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lucky and Emily come downstairs. Monica is relieved to see a smile on
her daughter's face. 'I guess he really does make her happy' she
thought.
"So are we ready to go?" Monica announces.
"Yes, I am." Emily says. She turns to Luke. "Goodnight, Mr. Spenc...I
mean, Luke."
"Goodnight, darlin'." Luke says.
Lucky turns and says to everyone, "I'm sorry that we caused you all
unnecessary stress tonight, it wasn't intentional."
"It's okay, Cowboy." Luke says as he pats Lucky on the shoulder.
Monica walks over to Lucky. "Thank you, Lucky, for taking care of my
little girl." She cups his face in her hands and looks at him with
sincerity. "I'm sorry I've misjudged you...again. You're a very nice
young boy and I should have realized that a long time ago." She kisses
Lucky on the cheek and backs away. She turns to Alan and Edward. "Come
on, you two, let's go home."
Alan and Edward head out the door with barely a goodnight, Monica
follows them out. Emily, turning once more, gives Lucky a quick peck
on the lips and follows Monica out the door.
Luke closes the door behind them as Lucky walks over to the couch and
plops down on it, exhausted. Luke then follows Lucky over to the couch
and perches on the arm rest.
"So, Cowboy..." Luke banters, smiling. "You wanna tell me about that
dream...?"
