  Season 1

"Smoke Gets in Your Lies"1.2

Fran boo-boos when she talks about her "good old" rebellious high school days, and Brighton reads that as a green light to try smoking, which infuriates Maxwell when he finds out. So Fran tries to redeem herself by showing Brighton a real life example of a smoker: her chain-smoking Grandma Yetta.

"My Fair Nanny"1.3

Maxwell and Fran get together to throw a coming-out party for Maggie, but they can't agree on just how "out" Maggie can come! 

"The Nuchslep"1.4

Maggie finally gets a date, but trouble ensues when the date likes Fran more than he likes Maggie. 

"Here Comes the Brood"1.5

C.C. tries her hand at taking the children to the zoo, but when the whole affair is a dismal failure, C.C. tells the children that Fran only spends time with them because she is paid to. So Grace runs away to find Nanny Fine at her parents' house, and ends up at the wedding of a friend of the Fines'.

"The Buttler, the Husband,the Wife and Her Mother"1.6

Niles is worried because the Butler's association is coming to evaluate him. Meanwhile, Fran's mother tells some friends that Fran is married to Maxwell. Well, when one thing leads to another, Fran is impersonating the lady of the house, Niles is impersonating her husband "Maxwell", and Maxwell is impersonating "Niles"!.

"Imaginary Friend"1.7

Fran is in big trouble when she accidently eats Grace's imaginary friend, prompting a scolding from Maxwell, and a trip to the shrink for Grace, Maxwell and Fran.

"Christimas Episode"1.8

Fran spends her first Christmas at the Sheffields, but she is appalled when she finds out that Maxwell hires a professional "gift buyer" to get the children's gifts. So she scolds him into getting a "gift from the heart", which he does - for the children, AND for Fran, costing her a Christmas cash bonus! 

"Personal Business"1.9

Fran figures she only has one life to live, so she agrees to help Maxwell close a casting deal by dating a young and restless soap-opera star (Stephen Nichols), whom she sends to "another world".

"The Nanny-In-law"1.10

When Maxwell's childhood nanny (Cloris Leachman) visits, she is appalled by Fran's unique child care methods.

"A Plot for Nany"1.11

Fran's mother has a surprise gift for her: a cemetary plot. And it's not exactly a grave undertaking for Fran when she begins dating the gorgeous funeral (Matt McCoy).

"The Show Must Go On"1.12

The spotlight is on Fran when Maxwell volunteers her to direct Grace's school production, but he soon upstages her by taking over.

"Maggie the Model"1.13

Maxwell's supermodel old flame (Lesley-Anne Down) returns, prompting Maggie to try to become a model.

"The Family Plumbing"1.14

Fran's doddering Uncle Irving shows up to fix the plumbing, and he's asssisted by Fran's young cousin Tiffany, whom Fran catches kissing Brighton... in the bathtub!

"Deep Throat"1.15

Fran is the one who requires TLC when she has to have her tonsils removed, and Maxwell puts C.C.'s reunion on hold to await the outcome of Fran's surgery. 

"Schlepped Away"1.16

It's the Holidays, and the Sheffields are heading off to the tropics, so Nanny Fine gets herself invited. All seems to be going well, until everyone gets snowed in at Fran's parents' house, including all of the Sheffields, Niles, and C.C., who is crushed at missing her vacation off with the "Senator". So Sylvia and Fran try and make everyone at home in their small Flushing abode.

"Stop the Wedding, I Want to Get Off"1.17

Maxwell is ecstatic that he's going to get see his sister (Twiggy Lawson) who is coming to New York to get married, but it doesn't take Fran long to figure out that Maxwell's sister only has eyes for her chauffeur.

"Sunday in the Park with Fran"1.18

When Grace is getting bullied by the son of an influencial theater critic (Eric Braeden), C.C. convinces Maxwell that Grace should invite the child over to smooth things over. But when the boy is a beast, and Fran hits him with a bagette, it's all Maxwell can do to convince the critic that no harm was done and that C.C. and Maxwell's play should still get a good review.

"The Gym Teacher"1.19

Maggie has a new gym teacher: the same tough-as-a-drill-sergeant gym teacher who terrorized Fran in high school. So Fran rides to the rescue and challanges the teacher for Maggie.

"Ode to Barbara Joan (a.k.a. Daddy Dearest)"1.20

C.C.'s father (Robert Culp) invites Fran to a Streisand concert, upsetting C.C.

"Frannie's Choice"1.21

Danny, the guy who originally dumpted Fran, gets dumped by his girlfreind, so he proposes to Fran, who says yes. But no one is happy about this, including Niles, her mother or the Sheffield family, and Fran is left to decide whether leaving the Sheffields is the right thing to do.

"I Don't Remember Mama"1.22

Fran encourages Maxwell to *not* try and take the kids' minds off Mother's Day, so Maxwell takes them to the country club, where Fran promptly enters herself and Grace in a "Mother-Daughter Beauty Pagent".

 

  Season 2
"Fran-Lite"2.1 Everyone is awestruck when, after Fran convinces Maxwell that he should socialize more, Maxwell actually comes home with a date: a woman named Leslie who's a dead-ringer for Fran! Meanwhile Brighton worries about being "small" at school
"The Playwright"2.2 When Fran insists that Brighton go out to a dance with his nerdy science partner Brooke, he retaliates by making Fran go out on a date with a guy she dissed in high school. Before the date is over, he's out on the ledge threatening to jump.
"Everybody Needs a Byddy"2.3 Fran's mother dumps Grandma Yetta at the Sheffields, meaning that Fran has to ask Maxwell for his permission to let Yetta stay. And she regrets getting it after Yetta causes all kinds of problems in the Sheffield home.
"Material Fran"2.4 When Fran runs across her old Flushing friend Kathy at a Sheffield society to-do, she is amazed at how well the friend has done by marrying a rich, much older man. So she gets talked into dating one herself (Efrem Zimbalist, Jr.), but she soon becomes disenchanted at being his "trophy".
"Curse of Grandmas"2.5 It's Fran's 1st anniversary at the Sheffield's, but Maxwell seems to be forgetting, and that has put Fran in a foul mood. Meanwhile, Grace's and her fellow Girl Scouts are each assigned an eldery member of Grandma Yetta's retirment home, but when Grace's assignments keep dying, everyone begins to wonder if Grace is a jinx.
"The Nanny Napper"2.6 When Fran takes the kids on a ride on the subway, she accidently ends up with the baby of Russian immigrant woman (Nancy Lenehan). Fran thinks the woman has abandoned the baby, but the woman thinks Fran has kidnapped him.
"A Star is Unborn"2.7 Fran gets the part in an avant-garde production of "Romeo and Juliet", and the whole thing goes to her head, bu neither Niles nor Maxwell have the heart to tell Fran that she's a terrible actress
"Pinske Business"2.8 Fran's mother and her canasta buddies invest their winnings in Maxwell's newest Broadway production, starring Ben Vereen, but to get the rest of the money he needs to produce the play Maxwell needs Fran to pose as, of all people, C.C.!
"Stock Tip"2.9 When Fran meets an attractive man (Corbin Bernsen) at the market who says he "works on Wall Street", Fran assumes he's a stock broker, so she sets him up to meet with Maxwell. But when she discovers he's a hot dog vendor, she must go to extra-ordinary lengths to save Maxwell's money, including going to C.C. for help, and you know what that'll mean! 
"The Wine Cellar"2.10 Fran and C.C. get trapped in Maxwell's wine seller, and they must pass the time together while they wait to be rescued, while a birthday party for Sylvia Fine goes on upstairs.
"When You Pish Upon a Star"2.11 The Sheffields take in the obnoxious child star (J.D. Daniels) of a popular TV sitcom (with a plot remarkably similar to The Nanny) whom Maxwell wants to star in his production of "Oliver". But when Fran accidently talks the boy into quitting showbiz for a "normal" life, Maxwell demands that Fran "fix" the situation.
"Take Back Your Mink"2.12 Fran refuses to wear a mink coat she inhereted from a relative, thanks to some consciousness-raising from Maggie, but Fran's mother is furious when she finds out.
"The Strike"2.13 Fran refuses to cross a picket line at Maxwell's opening-night reception for his new musical, "Norma Rae"!
"I've Got Secret"2.14 When a celebrity, covered in bandages, stays at the Sheffields' to recuperate, Maxwell won't tell Fran who it is because he knows she'll blab, but Fran's dying to now anyway. And soon enough she finds out... as does the press.
"Kindervelt Days"2.15 Fran *must* have a stunning escort to her summer-camp reunion to one-up an old rival (Morgan Brittany), but she thinks she's out of luck for a date, until Maxwell offers...that is until Erik Estrada shows up!
"Canasta Masta"2.16 Maxwell is worried about Brighton and he demands that Brighton participate in a team sport, but he is appalled when Brighton's place on a team ends up being a spot on Fran's family's canasta team which is playing in a tourney in Atlantic City.
"The Will" 2.17 After Maxwell confides to Fran that he's leaving her as the childrens' guardian in his will, she comes to believe that he has a fatal heart condition.
"The Nanny Behind the Man"2.18 Of all people, Grandma Yetta is the romantic interest of the "legendary" playwright Dakota Williams (George Murdock) whose unfinished opus just happens to be the one that Maxwell, and his rival Andrew Lloyd Webber, are bidding for.
"A Fine Frienship"2.19 Trouble arises when Fran just assumes that a male nanny (Christopher Rich) for one of Grace's friends is gay, but when the truth comes out, you won't believe the state Maxwell catches the two of them in up in Fran's bedroom! 
"Lamb Chop's on the Menu"2.20 Maxwell and C.C. are trying to secure the rights to a movie project starring (get this!) Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop, so they have the two stars stay at the Sheffields'. And, sure enough, together Fran and Val accidently cause a little mishap between Lamb Chop and C.C.'s dog.
"Close Shave"2.21 Fran earns her candy stripes by substituting for Maggie as a hospital volunteer, then has to shave Maxwell in preparation for an appendectomy. 
"What the Butler Sang"2.22 When their singer takes ill, Fran talks Maxwell and C.C. into auditioning Niles. At the same time, Fran talks Maxwell into letting her sister Nadine at the Sheffield home after she and her husband have a fight.
"A Kss is Just a Kiss"2.23 When Maggie wants to enter a kissing contest to appear on Billy Ray Cyrus' new album cover, Fran accompanies her, but sparks fly when Fran is the one that wins.
"Strange Bedfellows"2.24 Fran's friend and fellow Nanny, Mona (Tyne Daly), retires, and Mona's life story has eerie parrallels to Fran's, which causes Fran to become depressed about her future. So at Mona's farwell party, Fran gets drunk, and somehow ends up in Maxwell's bedroom in the morning!
"The Chatterbox"2.25 Fran takes Maggie to get her hair done at "the Chatterbox", a hair salon, and on the way she gets a job there for an aspiring actress (Tracy Nelson) with the boss Mr. Anthony (Patrick Cassidy).
NOTE: This is a episode sets up a potential spin-off series.
"Fran Gets Mugged"2.26 Fran and Brighton go to Central Park, where Fran's purse is snatched; among the contents: one of Fran's "irreplacable" red lipsticks, and Maxwell's irreplacable fragment from Shakespeare.

 

 

 

  Season 3
"Pen Pals"3.1 Fran gets a chance to meet her long-time pen pal Lenny, which prompts Maxwell to accompany her to the Russian Tea Room to check him out; meanwhile Niles and C.C. are left alone in the house.
"Nanny and the Professor"3.2 C.C.'s brother Noel (Michael McKean) bets C.C. that he can do the impossible: get Fran on Jeopardy; meanwhile, Maxwell is upset when it appears he hasn't been invited to the Renaissance Weekend, a gathering of national bigwigs, including the President.
"Dope Diamond"3.3 Fran is swept off her feet by (get this!) a suave sophisticated British gent, by the name of Jules (Ian Buchanan), and when he proposes, Sylvia is ecstatic, but Maxwell smells a rat.
"A Fine Family Feud" 3.4 After Maggie concludes that the "Sweet Sixteen" thrown by Maxwell at the Gungenheim Museum would be boring, Fran takes over an decides to hold it at a nightclub owned by her Aunt Freida (Lainie Kazan). The problem: Freta and Fran's mother haven't spoken in years.
"Val's Apartment"3.5 Fearing that she has "no life" and that her job at the Sheffield's is impactingher dating, Fran moves out of the house and into an apartment with Val, but the only question is who will give in first to get her back to the house: Fran or Maxwell?
"Shopaholic"3.6 When Val tells Fran that Danny is getting married to her arch nemesis Heather Biblow, Fran quickly loses control of herself in a several day shopping spree to drown her sorrows, causing the Sheffields to worry about her.
"Oy Vey, You're Gay"3.7 Maxwell hires a gorgeous publicist named Sydney (Catherine Oxenberg) to raise his public profile, and he quickly falls for her, prompting the jealousy of C.C. and Fran. But they needn't worry: she's a lesbian who's more interested in Fran.
"The Party's Over"3.8 When Maxwell goes to Boston with C.C., Brighton and Gracie, he leaves strict instructions that Maggie not be allowed to have a party. So Fran and Val have one instead: a "singles party" where people are charged an entrance fee, which lands Fran in trouble with the law, and with Maxwell.
"The Two Mrs. Sheffields"3.9 When Maxwell's obnoxious, critical mother Elizabeth (Dina Merrill) comes to town, Maxwell proposes to Fran just to get his monther's goat, but it doesn't take long before Fran is hip to the deception.
"Having His Baby"3.10 When Fran sees a picture of ex-fiancee Danny's new baby, she really starts wanting to have a baby of her own, so Maxwell's house guest, movie star Monica Baker (Donna Dixon), seems to give Fran an answer: artificial insemination.
"The Unkindest Gift"3.11 Brighton's "wacky" video of a bris thrown by Fran gets the family a trip to Hollywood, where Fran runs afoul of the cast of "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman".
"The Kibbutz"3.12 Fran wants to send Maggie to a collective farm in Israel over the holidays, that is until she remembers her own youth on a kibbutz! 
"An Offer She Can't Refuse"3.13 Fran suspects a guy she's dating (Burke Moses) may be involved in some shaddy business practices. 
"Oy to the World"3.14 In a special animated Christmas version of "The Nanny", Fran and Brighton get blown from New York to the North Pole where they help Kris Kringle (who bears a striking resemblence to Maxwell) overcome the "Abominable C.C.", an ice cloud who wants to destroy Christmas
"The Fashion Show"3.15 When Fran goes to a New York society "do" with the Sheffields, she is branded a fashion "don't" because of the purse Maxwell makes her take,causing Maxwell to feel bad, so he makes her the fashion designer of his set in a charity event! Could his career be over as a result?!
"Where's Fran?"3.16 After Maxwell insults her by saying she is stupid, Fran walks out, leaving the Sheffields to search for her. A retrospective episode.
"The Grandmas"3.17 Fran's having a midlife crisis of sorts: her relationship with Mr. Sheffield is in a rut and has become predictable, Gracie doesn't want to be seen in public with her "Nanny Fine" anymore, and her mother and father are separating!
"Val's Boyfriend"3.18 Val gets a new boyfriend named Pauly, causing Fran to go through "best friend withdrawls"; meanwhile, C.C. quits after Maxwell refuses to make her an equal partner.
"Love is a Many Blundered Thing"3.19 Fran gets a valentine from a "secret admirer" , whom she naturally assumes is Mr. Sheffield, so she goes *way* overboard in response. But she can't believe who her secret admirer really is!
"Is Fran Looking Old?"3.20 When Fran discovers that her feet have grown, just in time for her reunion of former foot models, she begins to worry that she is looking old, prompting her to pay a visit to a plastic surgeon.
"Liz Taylor's Black Pearls''3.21 When Liz Taylor visits, Fran foolishly decides to deilver the black pearl necklace that Liz is planning to wear herself, when (of course!) in the cab to deliver the necklace, Fran hits her head and suffers amnesia, losing the pearls in the process.NOTE: This episode was part of a larger CBS/Liz Taylor promotion that took place over all 4 of CBS's Monday night comedies.
"The Hockey Show"3.22 Fran starts dating a hockey player, NY Ranger Mike LaVoe, who figures she a "good luck charm", until she goes to a game, the Rangers lose, and the entire town of NY accuses Fran of being a "jinx".
"That's Midlife"3.23 When Maxwell's latest play bombs, he begins to question his whole life's work and purpose, causing Fran to worry enough to try and trick him into therapy.
"The Cantor Show"3.24 Fran gets a date with the handsome new singing Cantor at her Temple and brings him to Maxwell's, where the Cantor is tapped for Maxwell's new Broadway show by Burt Bacharach, prompting the Cantor to leave the Temple for a career on Broadway. The question: will God punish Fran in return?
"Green Card"3.25 Maxwell insists that Brighton get a tutor after he fails French, but Maxwell immediately regrets his decision when the smooth Frenchman romances and proposes to Fran, but the question is: does the tutor want Fran, or a visa?
" Ship of Fran's"3.26 Fran plans to spend some much needed vacation time with Val on a Caribbean cruise (cruising for guys, of course), but when Maxwell frets over the idea that Fran might actually find someone and leave the Sheffield family (and him!), he decides to go on the same cruise too, along with the other Sheffields, Niles, C.C., oh, and Sylvia, Mortie and Yetta!
"Pup in Paris"3.27 Before Maxwell heads off to Paris to check up on his brother and his new nightclub there, his bag gets mixxed up with Fran's bag containing C.C.'s dog, so she heads to the plane to retrieve the bag. Once on the plane though, Fran gets stuck there and accompanies Maxwell to Paris. But on the way back from Paris, as their flight appears to be crashing, Maxwell makes a startling admission. (A cliffhanger.)

 

 

  Season 4
"The Tart With Heart"4.1 When Maxwell takes back "The Thing" he said to Fran on the plane when he thought he was dying (see ep. #3.26), Fran decides to seek the attention of other men (hopefully, to get Maxwell jealous), among them a blind man (Jason Alexander). Meanwhile, Niles tries to find out what "The Thing" is. Gracie has to do a school report on women with careers, so she chooses C.C., a fact that further hurts Fran.
   
"The Cradle Robbers"4.2 Maggie falls for a 20-something named John (Brian Bloom), causing Maxwell to go through the roof! So it falls to Fran to show Maggie the error of her ways, all the while trying to pick up on John's friend Mike (Sean Kanan)!
"The Bird's Nest"4.3 Brighton must put together a science project (which involves a bird nest in the yard), or he'll fail science and Maxwell will send him to military school! So Fran must help Brighton out, which includes asking for an extension from Brighton's science teacher Mrs. Richardson (Nora Dunn), who just happens to dislike Fran due to a shopping "incident". Meanwhile, while her place is fumigated, C.C. must stay at the Sheffields, which gives Niles endless opportunities to torture her!
"The Rosie Show"4.4 Fran goes to see "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" and, when Rosie picks her out of the audience, Fran is such a hit that she gets a weekly segment on the show (which leads to C.C. being Fran's agent, which, as Niles says, "is a sure sign of the Apocalypse"!). And soon enough, Fran is neglecting her duties to the Sheffield family which causes Maxwell to go to unusual lengths to remedy the situation.
"Frieda Needa Man"4.5 When Fran's Aunt Frieda falls on hard times and loses her restaurant, she comes to stay at the Sheffields' and it isn't long before Fran'll do anything to get Frieda back together with her rich boyfriend, Fred (Donald O'Connor).
"Me and Mrs. Joan"4.6 Fran tries to reunite Maxwell with his estranged father (Robert Vaughn), who Maxwell still resents for having run off on his mother with their maid, Joan (Joan Collins), and who is now officially Maxwell's "stepmother" after all these years. Meanwhile, Brighton takes ballet class to get "close to chicks".
"The Taxman Cometh"4.7 Fran is audited by the IRS but her wiles fail to move a tax auditor concerned with her many children she's been claiming. Meanwhile, Maxwell is entertaining Jay Leno.
"An Affair to Dismember"4.8 Fran begins to rue her present, unsatisfactory relationship with Maxwell, a point that's driven home to her when Maxwell's brother, Nigel (Harry Van Gorkum; also in episode #3.26), visits, and he and Fran have a lot of fun together, so much so that Nigel soon realizes that he's fallen for Fran, and proposes to her on the spot... and she accepts! Is this the end for Fran and Maxwell?
"Tattoo"4.9 Fran's tattoo has Maggie envious and Maxwell so curious that he can't stop obsessing about it, leading Fran to butt heads with her mother about keeping it or having it removed.
"The Car Show"4.10 To get Maggie a car, Fran agrees to enter the "Miss Trans Am" contest, but in order to win she has to learn a "stick-shift", so Fran has Maxwell teach her, but an unfortunate accident takes place that tramatizes Fran. Meanwhile, Fran tries to worm her way into a charity event at Barbra Streisand's.
"Hurricane Fran"4.11 An out of control hurricane tries to come between Fran and a tropical holiday with Val. Who will win?
"Danny's Dead and Who's Got the Will?"4.12 When Val tells Fran that her ex-beau, Danny, has passed on, they attend his funeral, where Fran consoles her ex-fiance's beautiful grieving widow.
"Kissing Cousins"4.13 Fran's met the most wonderful man she can imagine and seems to be finally having the perfect relationship. What could go wrong? Her Mr. Right turns out to be her cousin!
"The Fifth Wheel"4.14 Fran, C.C. and Val decide jointly to swear off men. But when C.C. and Val both find boyfriends, and Fran does not, she decides to join them on their dates anyway!
"The Nose Knows"4.15 Fran's hero-worship dissolves when she catches her therapist in a disgusting habit. And Niles and C.C. attend an affair together and are surprised to find they enjoy themselves immensely!
"The bank Robbery"4.16 Fran and Sylvia are held hostage during a bank robbery carried out by a timid thief!
"Samson, He Denied Her"4.17 C.C. gets called for jury duty, and Fran is so mad at Maxwell that she tags along. Soon enough, both are put on the jury of the trial of the housekeeper of romance novel cover-hunk Vinchenzo, who's plight bares a strinking similarity to Fran's. Meanwhile, Sylvia becomes the "nanny" in Fran's absence, and the Sheffield clan is in for a shock!
"The Facts of Lice"4.18 First Gracie, then Fran, Brighton and Maggie come down with a case of lice, but when Maxwell doesn't, it prompts Fran to scold Maxwell for "not spending enough time with his own children." Meanwhile, Niles' bad mood causes Fran to become convinced that Niles is homicidal toward Maxwell, and that Niles might even be a serial killer!
"Fran's Roots"4.19 Fran's entire life could be turned upside down if what a woman claims is true: that Fran was switched at birth with another baby, and Sylvia is not her real mother. Meanwhile, C.C. is in L.A. selling series idea, and Niles hopes she doesn't return.
"The Nanny & The Hunk Producer"4.20 Maxwell's play, "The Widower", which is about a widower forever faithful to his late wife, is actually up for some Tony Awards. But as soon as he wins, a tabloid newspaper prints a story implying that Maxwell and Fran have been having an affair for years, which causes Maggie to go ballistic.
"The Passed-Over Story"4.21 Flush with the success of his 3 Tony Awards, Maxwell starts bringing in better talent. His most recent hire is "Morgan Faulkner" (Jane Sibbett), who was Fran's high-school rival back when she was Marcy Feldman, and who takes an immediate liking to Maggie, and hires Maggie as her assistant. But Maxwell loses his cool when Maggie decides to forgo college to continue the job with "Morgan".
"No Muse Is Good Muse"4.22 Fran decides that she's on the same wavelength as rock star "Tasha", whose angry lyrics are a favorite of Maggie's, so she tries to get a song she's written to Tasha. Before long, Tasha is using Fran's "pathetic" life as the basis for her next songs, but Maxwell thinks their "friendship" is a bad idea. Meanwhile, Niles listens to self-help tapes.
"You Bette Your Life"4.23 Maxwell is producing a charity auction, in which Bette Midler is the M.C. (because it's for one of her charities), and Fran offers her services as a Nanny for a day. She ends up getting bid upon by Keith Rosenstein, the young, piano prodigy son of Maxwell's big investor, Tom Rosenstein. But when Fran gets Keith to play the piano at Yetta's nursing home, and one of the residents dies while he's playing, the boy can't play the piano anymore, causing both Maxwell and Bette Midler to lose their temper. Meanwhile, C.C. wins Niles' services for a day at the auction.
"The Heather Biblow Story"4.24 Fran's nemesis, Heather Biblow (Pamela Anderson Lee), has landed a role of Fran's favorite daytime soap opera, "The Young & The Restless".
