Lucky and Lizzie:
 It's A Date

{Lucky is sitting at the counter when Sarah walks up behind him, scaring him}

Sarah:  "Hey!"

Lucky:  "Hey! {She sits down beside him, laughing} People come and go so quickly around here."

Sarah:  "Oh, yes. Deanie told me you were back."

Lucky:  "Yeah."

Sarah:  "P.C.'s been a drag without you"

Lucky:  "Well, that's what I hear."

Sarah:  "What's that?" {Pointing to his drink}

Lucky:   "Oh, it's a New Yorker drink, Ruby taught me. It's Egg Cream."

Sarah:  {Looking at it} "Is there egg in there?"

Lucky:  "No."

Sarah:  "Cream?"

Lucky:  "Huh uh."

Sarah:  "Then why?"

Lucky: {Laughing} "Beats me."

Sarah:  "Oh. {Taking the glass from him} Well, can I have a sip?"

Lucky:  "Yeah." {He walks around her to the counter}

Sarah:  "It's my big night out for the week, I want to make it memorable." {She takes a drink}

Lucky:  "If this is your big night, then what about tomorrow?"

Sarah:  "You mean the dance?" {She sets the glass down}

Lucky:  "Yeah."

Sarah:  "Well, Nikolas isn't exactly talking to me, or anyone else for that matter, except Emily. And I guess he's probably not going to the dance, not that he would really let me know one way or the other. You know? And I bought the tickets the first night that they went on sale. Wishful thinking, I guess."

Lucky:  "You know, you get the word out that you're free, a certain somebody will ask you."

Sarah:  "What about you?"

Lucky:  "Hmm?"

Sarah:  "Would you like to take me to the dance?" {Lucky looks at her}

Lucky:  "Would I take you to the dance? I think it's safe to say I'd definitely take you to the dance."

Sarah:  "Great. I was pretty sure you probably would already be going with someone else, I almost didn't ask."

Lucky:  "Well, I'm meeting a couple of friends there, but--. {He gets up and walks a little ways away} This, no, this is going to work out good. Yeah."

Sarah:   "Ok." {Laughing, she walks over in front of him}

Lucky:  "Let's be clear about this though, ok? This is not a play date, right? This is a date date."

Sarah:  "The real thing."

Lucky:   "The real thing. The rose. To the last dance. To the goodnight kiss."

Sarah:  "Well, maybe two out of three."

Lucky:  {Looking at her, smiling} "Hey you wanna give up the rose, that's cool with me." {They laugh, and then Lucky takes a deep breath}

Sarah:  "So, it's a date?"

Lucky:  "It's a date."

Sarah:  "All right." {Sarah laughs and Lucky just watches her}

{Lizzie looks around as she comes off the elevator and then bounces over to Audrey}

Lizzie:  "Gram! It worked! It worked! Lucky agreed to hook up with me at the dance."

Audrey:  "Oh. Congratulations."

Lizzie:  "And it went just like you said. Thank you so much."

Audrey:  "For heaven's sake, don't thank me, you did all the work."

Lizzie:  "I can't wait to tell Emily about--Oh my God!"

Audrey:  "What is it?" {She turns towards her, concerned}

Lizzie:  "I don't have a dress. I'm 24 hours away from my first big dance, and I don't have a dress!"

Audrey:  "Oh, dear. Your life is just one big emergency after another, isn't it?"

Lizzie:  "Isn't it awful?"

Audrey:  "Uh huh. Well, I am sure that you'll find something at the mall tomorrow, something reasonable."

Lizzie:  "Well, could you go shopping with me?"

Audrey:  "Well--"

Lizzie:  "Oh, please Gram. I want everything to be perfect, and I really need your opinion."

Audrey:  "Well, I really can't guarantee perfection, but between the two of us, I think we could come up with a dress." {She starts laughing}

Lizzie: {Excited} "A killer dress!"

Audrey: {Her laughing stops} "If you're sure that that's what you want."

Lizzie:  "Oh, yes, yes, yes. See Grams, sometimes it's not so bad to feel things so much." {Audrey starts laughing again and hugs Lizzie}
