I Want It That Way
my review
The highly anticipated new video by the our favorite Boys this past week debuted on music video stations worldwide. I was at first unsure of what to expect (all I had heard was that it had been shot at Los Angeles International Airport and contained live footage.) What I saw, was a sparkling, beautiful piece of work. The essence behind the video is the Boys' lives; their frequent visits to airports. The editing is superb. The flashes of light between the changes of the beginning scenes and the speeding up, slowing down techniques are meticulously used. This proved to be some of the finest craftsmanship I have seen. This video definetly ranks as one of, if not the best video the Boys have produced so far. They may an excellent choice selecting Wayne Isham, the man responsible for 98 Degrees' videos for Because Of You and The Hardest Thing as well as Will Smith's Miami video. This video is the perfect introduction to the new soul that is Millennium. It shows a more mature, self-assured side of the Boys, one which I think they're trying to portray in their music. The use of actual fans for the ending scenes shows the heart of the Boys, how they really feel that they owe their success to their fans. This video is refreshing and innovative. It is unlike all the fluff, pointless videos (Britney Spears' videos come to mind) that clogg the music video stations today. The only thing I didn't so much enjoy was one shot inside the airport where they began to dance. Since there was no other dancing in the video, this was unnecessary and out of place, although excusable because of the outstanding quality of the rest of the video.
