Seeing her
After so long
Was like seeing the sunlight
And not having it hurt.
And how do I know
That it’s been long at all?
I don’t.
I just feel that way.
As if I’ve just waken
From a dream
And I can’t quite remember
What happened.
And something did.
Buffy had a sword.
A cut.
I hate to see her hurt.
And now she trembles
In my arms.
Like she never trembled befoe.
Even–
I remember that
At least.
I couldn’t forget.
And I hold her closer
As close as I can
To stop the trembling
The tears
But they come harder.
“Don’t worry about it,”
She says.
And I won’t
Because she said it.
“Close your eyes.”
Something cries out at those words,
Remembers them
Though I don’t.
But I love her
So I do.
I trust her
With my life.
With my soul.
And I close my eyes.
