In the darkness
We found a light
Found each other
In the night of my sorrow
We lit a candle
We whispered a prayer
And found it answered

Worlds spun
Stars danced
I loved you

The candle blew out
You cried in the night
I couldn’t find you
Darkness swallowed us
Light stole our hearts
Shadows within shadows
Promises we cannot keep
Dreams that slip away

Even in the darkness
I remember
Even alone
I know
Memories of fire
Burn my heart
Gorgeous pain
And you’re gone again
But the memory of light
Remains
