Angel walked home after beating some information out of the lowly bar tender, Willy. *What a useless human being, the only thing he's good for is supplying me with cow's blood and that's not exactly an honorable form of employment.* He continued on his way to his makeshift apartment, he had to admit it was a pretty decent place considering he didn't have a job that pays to afford something "real" on that scale. He still didn't know what he was going to do about The Order of Teraka being after Buffy. He would never let anything happen to her. He needed to get her away from town for awhile even though he knew that it was going to be impossible to convince her to do so.

Angel reached his apartment and was about to unlock the door when he realized that the door was already unlocked. It appeared to have been broken into. With a growl his face shifted into it's demonic form and he stepped inside prepared to fight. He stopped however when he saw Buffy sound asleep on his bed, curled in a fetal position. He relaxed and his face shifted back to it's normal visage. * What's she doing here?* He stepped over to the bed and softly stroked back Buffy's blonde hair. He loved her so much and it made his heart ache to see her so peaceful--- in his bed.

With a soft moan she stirred and opened her eyes. "Angel?" she questioned. "Yes, Honey, it's me," he replied softly. "Where were you? I came here to see you and you weren't here," she told him. "I was getting some information. What did you want to see me about?" he asked. With a yawn she replied, " I was scared about what Giles told me about these Order of Teraka people and needed somewhere to go." She then continued and started crying, " I didn't know where to go, Giles like gave me this like death warning about these people and made it sound like I was going to die for sure, and I didn't want to go home and be all alone so I came here." "Shhhhh. I'm here and I won't let anyone hurt you," Angel said as he held her to his chest.

Suddenly there was a crash as someone came hurtling through the door. "What the Hell?" cried Angel. An African girl holding an ax stood over them. " I am Kendra, the Vampire Slayer," she told them.

Buffy started to laugh, "Sure you are, and I'm the Pope." The girl looked very surprised to have been doubted. "Yes I am, and I am here to slay you both," she told them defiantly. "Honey, you can't slay me because one, I'm not a vampire, and two, I'm the damn slayer," Buffy told her. Angel just looked at the strange girl, deep in thought. It
was obvious she wasn't a vampire, who was she? "I was sent here by me Watcher," she said. Then she lunged at Angel. Buffy screamed and dove for her, knocking the ax out of her just as it sliced Angel's hand. He howled in pain. "You bitch!" cried Buffy as she threw the girl against the wall and took Angel's wounded hand that appeared to still be
bleeding, which was odd. "Are you OK?" she asked Angel. His look told her he would be.

Kendra got up and was about to pummel Buffy, when her reflexes kicked in and they began to fight. Angel got up and handed Buffy a kitchen knife, a stake wouldn't do any good. Buffy managed to hold her own, as the girl was an extremely good fighter. They were stanced ready for either one to take a swing at the other. " OK, you back down, I'll back down and we'll go to my Watcher, Giles and straighten this damn mess out," Buffy said. Angel nodded in agreement. "Fine," said the girl. The trio walked out of Angel's trashed apartment to the library.

Giles was in a book about demons at the library, as usual. He was a little surprised to see his Slayer , Angel, and an unknown girl enter his library. "Giles we have a problem," Buffy said.

"Uh yes, ah what is it?" the Watcher asked.

"Kendra, this girl here, attacked me and Buffy claiming that she is the Vampire Slayer," replied Angel.

"The what?" asked the stunned Giles.

"That is right, I am Kendra, the vampire slayer," Kendra said.

"We got the picture, Honey," said an annoyed Buffy. Giles thought for a moment.

"Good heavens, Buffy you did die," he said.

"Well it was only for like a second," said Buffy.

"She died?" asked Kendra.

"Only a little bit, " whimpered Buffy.

"Yes, she drowned, but she was resuscitated," explained Giles. Kendra looked with doubt in her eyes. "So thus she died, and even though she was technically dead for a moment, the new Slayer was activated," concluded Giles.

"Wow," was all Angel could say, as he wrapped his arms around Buffy, who was obviously very uncomfortable.

"That brings me to my next question," said Kendra, "What is she doing kissing a vampire?"

Buffy looked at Angel who shrugged. "Tell her," he said. Buffy took a deep breath and started, "Well the first thing you need to know is that Angel is not your average vampire, he is good. This is because a gypsy curse gave him his soul back. He does not kill to eat. Angel and I met and well the attraction grew. That's why we were kissing. I know I'm a
Slayer and all, but the fact that Angel's a vampire really doesn't matter to me." Kendra absorbed this information as Buffy held onto Angel.

"OK, this makes some sense to me, but aren't you, Angel, the dreaded Angelus?" she asked. Angel drew in a deep breath and replied, " Yes, I am. I'm no longer that way though, anymore. I deeply regret all of my actions." Buffy gave him a kiss and a hug to comfort him, it was evident that he felt really guilty at that moment about his past actions.

Kendra said, " So he helps you?"

"Yes, he does, he's been a great help more than once with his knowledge," Giles said. Kendra looked hard at Angel, who cringed beneath her stare. She held out her hand.

"My Watcher would not approve of this, but if you do Mr. Giles, then I can work with a vampire," Kendra said. Angel shook her hand and smiled, "Thank you," he said.

"Now my Watcher has sent me here because there is evil here," Kendra started.

"Yes, it seems that The Order of Teraka is after Buffy," Giles told her.

"The assassins!?" Kendra replied in disbelief. "Well I can see now why I was sent here, " Kendra said.

Angel finally spoke up who had been holding Buffy, "Yes, one attacked Buffy at the ice rink, I think we need to get her out of here, where they won't look."

"Yes, that's what I said," said Giles.

"Yeah, you told me that as if I didn't I would inevitably die," Buffy spoke up.

"You didn't need to scare her like that, Giles," Angel scolded, "She can handle herself, even better with our help," Angel defended.

"I'm sorry, Buffy. I didn't mean to frighten you that badly, but I wanted you to realize how serious this is," Giles apologized.

"She does not take this seriously?" asked Kendra.

"Well you see Buffy is not like most Slayers, she has friends, civilians if you like, who know her identity. They help out where they can. She refuses to buckle down and train, she insists on going out and doing what she pleases," Giles explained.

"You make it sound like that is a bad thing," Buffy replied scornfully.

"Well, you know you're not supposed to be so relaxed in your duties, but I don't want to get in this argument with you right now," Giles ended.

**************

Giles and Angel were deep in conversation about the Order of Teraka. Kendra and Buffy were also in a conversation, but it was hardly that serious. It was about boys. "You're not even allowed to talk to them?!" Buffy asked incredulously.

"No, my Watcher tinks that they would distract me. The calling is taken different by my people. The Slayers are trained and they fight. No marriage or socializing. You just fight and do your duty until you die," Kendra said.

"Do you think that will happen soon?" asked Buffy. This was an especially sensitive topic for her.

"I do not know. One minute everything could be fine and under control and the next the devil could have sprung. I hope the day I die does not come for a long while," replied the ever-wise Kendra.

Meanwhile in Giles' office he and Angel were debating. "We need to get her out of town, they're probably already stationed near her house and at the school," argued Angel.

"Yes, but you know as well as I do that she'll never go for it. She'll refuse to leave and insist on staying here," said Giles.

"Well after the first few she'll realize we both know what we're talking about," was Angel's reply. Just then Buffy came in.

"Well?" she inquired. Angel spoke, "I think you should get out of here, just until we figure out how to cancel this deal that Spike made."

"OK, I'll leave, but I won't go far. I'm going to stay with you or else at home," Buffy said. Giles and Kendra looked slightly surprised. Angel looked at her.

"Are you sure? I have no problem with it, but what about your mom?" he asked.

"I'll tell her I'm on a field trip or Willow's house because her parents are out of town. She won't mind," was Buffy's response.

"OK, if you're sure," said Angel.

"Good, then it's settled. I'll stay at Angel's." Buffy said this with a gleam in her eye.

*********************

That night Buffy went home and packed the stuff she'd need for about a week. She took the basic necessities, clothes, health/beauty items, socks, and pajamas. She left a new message on the answering machine for her mother so that when her mom called she would be informed that Buffy would be at Willow's for the week, she made up some valid excuse. So that night after graveyard patrol, Buffy headed over to Angel's.

She knocked on his door upon arriving. Angel opened the door a little eagerly. "Wow, you're really looking forward to having a houseguest this week aren't you?" Buffy pointedly asked. "Of course I'm looking forward to having YOU stay at my house, Buff!" he replied. "But if it was Xander, I don't know..." he continued. "You shush, you love him and you know it," Buffy teased. "OK, OK, but I don't love him as much as you," he complied. And with that he placed a kiss on her lips. She eagerly leaned into it and let her tongue slip into his mouth, exploring with long smooth strokes. He gently pulled away. "I took a lot of care into preparing your food plan for the week," he said. "My what?" Buffy asked incredulously. "Yep, I went to the local grocer and I bought food!" he said with a laugh. "Wow, you really took time and effort for me," said Buffy. "Now let me see how well you did!"

Buffy walked over to the fridge and opened it. In it among bags and bottles of blood, she found milk, a bag of apples, a loaf of bread, a six pack of Pepsi, a mini jar of mayonnaise, and a 1/2 lb. of roast sliced turkey. In Angel's single cupboard she found on one shelf plates and bowls, and on the other a box of cereal, a bag of Doritos, and a box of pretzels. "Wow, the basics, good job!" Buffy replied eagerly. "How'd you know what snack food to buy?"

"Oh c'mon Buff, you don't think I see the bags hidden under your bed?" replied Angel with a smile.

That night Angel and Buffy partied. Well, not really, but they did have fun. Buffy on her way to Angel's had stopped at Blockbuster and picked out a couple of movies, plus microwave popcorn. Her first movie she picked out was supposedly a good date movie, it was Jerry Maguire. Buffy didn't really think Angel would love it or anything, but she liked Tom Cruise, so he would just have to deal with it. The two had cuddled up under a blanket on Angel's couch with a bowl of popcorn. Buffy ate a ton of popcorn compared to Angel's few handfuls, but she hadn't really expected him to eat a lot.

After Jerry Maguire was over Angel and Buffy decided to get ready for bed. Buffy headed off to the bathroom to change into her respective sweats that she slept in. But when Buffy got to the bathroom she realized she had forgotten the top to the pants. "Oh crap," Buffy said. "What is it, Buff?" asked Angel. "You don't happen to have a T-shirt I can borrow do you?" asked Buffy. "Yeah, I do." Angel then came over and knocked on the door, Buffy opened it and accepted the shirt from Angel-- in her bra and sweat pants. That had obviously made Angel feel uncomfortable, but Buffy apparently had no problem with it.

She took the shirt and slipped it on over her head. Then she came out and walked over to the bed, and got under the covers. Angel came over and climbed in next to her. He switched off the light and the two just snuggled there, with Buffy in Angel's arms, until they were both sound asleep.

**************

The next morning Buffy woke up to the alarm on her watch she had set the night before. She didn't want to want to wake up Angel, who she knew would sleep for most of the day. Buffy climbed out of bed and went to the rather small kitchen, where she took out a bowl, milk, and box of cereal Angel had bought for her. She had a simple, but filling breakfast complete with milk to drink. Then after putting the dishes away in the sink to be
washed later, she went to the bathroom to get ready for school. After she was dressed she kissed the sleeping vampire on the cheek and left for Sunnydale High.

At school Buffy trained with Giles, she needed to be strong and prepared if she had to face the assassins of the Order of Teraka. Xander was leery of her. He was of course jealous that she was going to be at Angel's for a whole week. Willow was beside herself with curiosity about Buffy's plans for her and Angel. Buffy just shrugged them off. After school Buffy was about to check on things at home, but she decided against it. She
didn't want any assassins to follow her and find her "hiding place." So instead Buffy headed back to Angel's loft, with a smile on her face.

Buffy let herself in with the key that Angel had given to her for the week, well actually he'd probably end up letting her keep it, but for now it was just for the week. She walked into an empty apartment. First Buffy began to panic, then she saw the note that was left on the coffee table. In Angel's elegant handwriting was a note telling her he had run out to get some info, plus a surprise for that night. Buffy sighed, and plopped herself
down on the sofa, she flicked on the TV, but since it was dusk only news was on, and the news didn't excite Buffy. She figured that when the reporters picked up on demons and other things, then there would be news worth watching.

Buffy was about to force herself to do some homework, when Angel walked in. She ran over to him and leapt into his arms for a hug. "Hey!" he said. "Miss me?" he asked teasingly. "You bet!" replied Buffy. "So where'd you go?"

"Well like I said I got some info, that wasn't extremely helpful, but oh well. I also picked up a surprise....." he continued. "Well aren't you going to tell me what the surprise is?" asked Buffy entirely too eagerly. "We'll see...," said Angel. Buffy sighed and plopped back down on the sofa. "So what are we going to do tonight, besides this surprise of yours?" "Well I was thinking dinner, but no movie since we did that last night," he responded. "Are you saying you didn't like our movie date?" mocked Buffy. "No! Not at all, I just meant we could do something different tonight." "Well OK," teased Buffy.

Angel then told Buffy to get dressed. "We're going to go out to eat, so you might want to get fancy," he added. Buffy headed off to the bedroom to pick out the one dress she had brought and headed off to the bathroom. Angel meanwhile got dressed himself in a suit, one which Buffy had never seen before. He hoped she would like it.

Buffy soon emerged from the bathroom in the simple maroon colored dress. It was simple yet, retained a great elegance. When Angel saw her, he was taken aback--more appropriately-- he was stunned. Never had he seen her this beautiful. Buffy also did a double take when she saw Angel in his suit, he looked extremely handsome. "Well, is the lady ready to go?" asked Angel is a phony British accent. "Yes, the lady is quite ready," replied Buffy also using a fake accent. Arm in arm Angel and Buffy left the loft to the mystery place Angel was taking her.

They stepped outside and climbed into the car--Angel's car. With Angel at the driver's seat, they headed onto the streets of Sunnydale, only to go past Sunnydale onto a freeway the led into LA.

"Well, well, well," said Buffy, "LA, the big city, where could we be possibly going?" "For right now, that if for me to know and you to find out," said Angel with a smile. They drove for another half hour in silence. That was only due to the fact that Buffy had picked a radio station of her choice that blared music that was impossible to sing along to. Soon however they pulled into a French restaurant, Chez Maurice, that was teeming with people. Angel parked the car and got out to open the door for Buffy. Angel saw the worried look on her face as she saw all the people. "Don't worry, I made a reservation in advance," he said.

Buffy smiled in wonder. She wondered how long Angel had been planning this, she'd only been over his apartment for a night, and it takes weeks in advance to reserve a table on such a busy night. Angel and Buffy walked arm in arm into the crowded restaurant. Angel walked up to the waitress who was in charge of seating. He told her his name and his reservation. The waitress smiled and led them to table set for two. It was by a window and had a great view of the city below. Angel took Buffy's coat and helped her into her seat.

Buffy sat down in awe, then with uncertainty, this was obviously a fancy place and she wasn't sure how to act. She started with placing her napkin on her lap. Angel who had seated himself was skimming the appetizer menu just as a man in a tuxedo came over to them. "Good evening, I am Pierre, I will be your waiter tonight. Would you care to start with drinks?" the man said. Angel looked at Buffy indicating she could go first. "I'll just have.... sparkling cider," she said as she looked at the beverage menu. "And you, sir?" asked the waiter. Angel looked down at the menu. "I'll have a glass of white wine," he said pointing to his selection. "Good. Then I'll be right back with these," the waiter said as he left. Buffy smiled at Angel. "This has to be the most romantic date I have ever been on!" she said. "And it's only just beginning," replied Angel with a grin.

Soon the waiter cam back with their beverage requests. He then asked the two what appetizers they would like to start with. Angel ordered right off the bat breadstick, he knew Buffy liked them and they were simple enough for him to eat. Buffy then looked at the menu and asked for a salad, with what else? French dressing. Once the waiter had left Buffy and Angel began a conversation about themselves. "Angel, do you know how much I adore you?" asked Buffy. "No, you'd better remind me said Angel in a sultry, sexy voice.

Buffy leaned forward, very close to him and whispered, "More than the whole wide world, this one or any other." Angel looked at her and was about to reply that she didn't even know the half of his love for her when the waiter (who was moving very quickly, considering how busy the place was) came back with the appetizers and took down their dinner orders. Angel the cultured man that he was ordered fairly simple, for French dining.

He ordered escargot, while Buffy who couldn't understand the strange names of the entrees, ordered American and had pasta, despite it was Italian. The rest of the meal passed very quickly for the two love birds and soon Angel had paid and they were back in the car.

***********

Once back on the road, with their stomachs full, Buffy figured they were going home. Angel, however, wasn't finished yet. He drove for about another 20 minutes or so when he pulled up into an enormous theater. The valet attendant took Angel's keys and parked the car while Buffy and him walked in. "OK Angel, talk. What are we doing here?" asked the bewildered Buffy. "We're going to see..... Phantom of the Opera," replied Angel with a slight smile. "Really!?" exclaimed Buffy, "I've wanted to see that forever!" "Well we're here," replied Angel. The two walked into the crowed theater and Angel produced two tickets which he gave to the usher who led them to their seats. They sat down and 15 minutes later, the musical began.

By the end of the performance, Buffy was moved to tears and had left somewhat of a tear stain on Angel's arm. The two got up, got their car back from valet and drove home. Despite the excitement of the evening Buffy nor Angel was tired. They were glowing with happiness from that nights picture perfect date.

******************

After an hour of driving Angel and Buffy finally arrived at Angel's loft. Buffy walked in and set her purse on the table. "I am so happy!" she exclaimed. "That was the best night of my life. Thank you so much, Angel!" Angel who had stepped in put his arms around the Slayer. "It was my pleasure," he said. Buffy turned around to look at him and raised her lips up to meet his. Their lips met and they kissed, long and slow. Buffy withdrew and looked at Angel. She knew what they were going to do. With a sexy smile she led him to the bed.

"Buff, what are we doing?" asked Angel. "What we've wanted to do for a long time," replied Buffy who had begun to unbutton Angel's shirt. "Are you sure?" he asked. "Positive," she replied, looking up at him with an intense gaze filled with desire. Angel smiled and began to take off Buffy's shoes.

After all clothes were stripped off Buffy and Angel fell back on the bed and had a night of passion. It took them to the edge of ecstasy and back. It was a night none of them would forget, it was the night they made love for the first time.

****************

The following days were fairly normal for Buffy and Angel. They had contacted the Order of Teraka and canceled Spike's request to have Buffy killed. Buffy however, was not doing well. She did not feel well, and during the last few days of her stay with Angel was miserable. Angel feared it was something he did, and he was beside himself with worry and grief. Finally on the day before she would return home she had agreed to see a doctor, despite how much she hated them. So after an appointment was made, Angel carried Buffy to his car and drove her to her 7:30 appointment.

While Buffy was in the examining room being examined, Angel paced around the empty waiting room. He felt for sure it was something about him, when the made love, he had somehow done something to Buffy. Buffy had tried to convince him it wasn't him, but it hadn't worked. Finally, Buffy walked out of the room.

Angel was about to run over to her, when he noticed her dazed expression. The whole ride home Buffy didn't speak a word; she just stared out the window. When the arrived back at Angel's loft he spoke up. "Buff, tell me what's wrong," he said. She nodded her head towards the building, indicating she would tell him inside. Angel went around the side and helped her out of the car.

When the got inside Buffy collapsed on a chair. "Buffy, tell me," Angel pleaded. She looked up at him and finally spoke. "Angel, I'm.......... pregnant." Angel himself collapsed in a chair. "How..how could this happen, I mean I thought------" he stammered. "I don't know, Angel, but I am and it is yours. So what am I going to do about it?" she asked, her voice quivering. Angel went over to her and gently picked her up off the chair and held her in his lap. "Well it's your baby, what do you want to do?" he asked, gently. Buffy looked at him and replied, "I want to keep it." Angel smiled the biggest smile, Buffy had ever seen. "OK, then, we'll love and spoil this child!"

Buffy knew that she would have to, at the right time, inform everyone about her and Angel's child, but that could wait for a little while. She knew as she cried tears of happiness against Angel's chest that she was the luckiest girl. She had great friends, a loving mother, and the best boyfriend, who's child she was carrying. She knew that everything would be OK.

The End---for now.
Will be continued in a later sequel.

Author's Notes: I don't know how a French restaurant is run, so don't be angry if it isn't right. The episode "What's My Line?" was originally my inspiration for this story, but as you can see it's not evident in the story. Hope you enjoyed it!
