Summary: Buffy is the love of Angel's life, but what if she's the love of another, PG-13

At the Bronze, Buffy was having the best time of her life, she was in the arms of her friend, confidant, and lover. Her guardian Angel. She laid her head on his chest, inhaling that scent that was uniquely his, no worries about impending doom, or new demons. Just two lovers swaying to the romantic music.

~Adia, I missed you since you left me
Trying to find away to carry one
Isearch myself in everyone, to see where we went wrong
There's no one left to finger
There's no one here to blame
There's no one left to talk to honey
There's no on who bore are innocence ~

Angel glanced at the girl in his arms, the girl that gave him everything he could ever desire, she looked past his demon. Looked into his soul and saw something that he himself didn't see anymore,he'd locked it away for centuries. She saw the love and compassion he possessed, and only she, his soulmate, the one he was bonded to forever, could have brought that out of him.

~Cause we are both innocent
Believe me Adia, we are still innocent
It's easy we are faltered
Does it matter

Adia thought that we could make it
But I know I can't change the way you feel
Leave with your misery
Afriend who won't betray
Pull you from your tower
Take away your pain show you all the beauty you possess
If you only let yourself believe~

Two pairs of eyes stared intensely into each others.

Both unaware of the world around them, unaware of anyone but themselves. Unaware of another pair of eyes that watched from the shadows.

~Cause we are both Innocent
Believe me Adia we are still innocent
It's easy we are faltered
Does it matter~

The figure stepped out of the shadows, his eyes were fixated with Buffy's face, he smiled. Looking Buffy over, he knew it was her. "Delila". He whispered "My sweet Lila, I've found you". It was her, that blonde hair, emerald green eyes, and flawless skin. It was Delila, his long lost wife, the one that was taken away by another man, but would come back to him now. He saw her smile and if possible he fell in love with her all over again. "Soon well be together again" he said watching the two leave when the song ended before blending back into the shadows.

After a long kiss goodnight with Angel, Buffy walked exhaustedly to her room. Outside the figure glared at Angel with daggers as he left, he'd deal with him later. The figure went to the side of the house and began to climb up to Buffy's window, just in time to see her change into her pajamas before falling into a deep sleep.

****

Darkness surrounded her as she walked, the wind blew causing her golden tresses to surround her head like a fog. All was lost to her as she wandered through, until a sound echoed, it got louder, but it wasn't a sound. It was a name being called, out of desperation "Lila!! Lila!!" Buffy took off running trying to find away out, she let out a surprised gasp when she ran into a figure "Delila" he whispered

Buffy shot up in bed, sweat glowing off her face. She realized where she was and carefully layed her head down again "That was weird". She whispered to herself. She rested her head until she noticed something. Two roses, one white, one red.

Part 2

Buffy was headed toward Angel's apartment, it was spring break, so she had a whole week of no school, no training. Just a week of R &R with the man she loved. With her she was carrying the roses she found on her pillow, Angel was always the romantic one, always giving her things, it made Buffy think she needed to get him something. That thought was pushed aside when she arrived at Angel's door, using the key he'd given her a few months back she walked in. Taking her jacket off, Buffy walked toward the bedroom, she went in and found Angel asleep, duh she thought, he's always sleep at this time. She glanced at the clock it read 2 o'clock, time for Angel to get up, she climbed onto the bed and hovered over him. Buffy couldn't help but stare into his 'angelic' face, like a marble stone, lips like a red rose, made for kissing. She thought of the perfect way to wake him up, one they would both enjoy, she took the red rose in her hand and traced it over his chiseled features, his closed eyes, down the bridge of his nose, across his lips. When that didn't work, Buffy used another tactic that always worked. She placed her lips gently on his, Angel awoke immediately and responded to the kiss, his arms sliding around her petite frame. The kiss, turned into the most intense kiss Buffy had ever felt, well all his kisses were like that. She moaned against his lips and he rolled them over, so that she was on her back. The necessity to breath caused her to pull back."Good Afternoon, you sleep well" She said taking a breath after each word, but managed to crack a smile at the same time

"Yes" replied Angel "Maybe I need to go back to sleep so I can get the same wake up call.

Chuckling at his teasing"Nope, your staying awake." She leaned her lips up again at met his in another sizzling kiss. Suddenly remembering about the roses she pulled away again. "Oh, thank you"

"For what?"

"These." Pulling out the roses. "It was sweet of you"

Getting up of her, Angel rose and sat upon his knees "Where did you get this?"

" I found it on my pillow, when I woke up. It's it where you left it?

"Buffy, I didn't put roses on your bed, I came straight home" he said staring at her

Sitting up beside him, "Well if you didn't who did? It couldn't have been mom she's still outta town for spring break besides I doubt she would put roses on my bed"

"I don't know, but whoever it is has access to your house."

Laying back down "Well I guess I have another admirer," she said

Looking at her, giving Buffy this is serious look. She gave him the don't worry about it look. "Angel it's probably Xander or something, he's been real giving since the thing with vamp Willow, it makes him think about life more and about his friends."

"Probably." Forgetting about the subject "what do you mean another admirer?" he said smiling

"I have many admirer's, everyone loves me."

"What's not to love," replied Angel laying back down, pulling her into his embrace.

Buffy and Angel spent the day together, mainly in his bedroom. Just kissing and holding each other, or Angel would read her another one of his favorite poems or passages that he found extraordinary. Buffy even found herself enjoying it. She liked being able to enjoy the samething he did, it made the bond they had even stronger, it went far beyond anything they ever experienced. But little did they know, that bond was about to be challenged.

*****

At the Summer's residence, a figure moved quickly, buzzing from room to room. Everything had to be perfect, for her. He started writing a note to let her know it was time. When he finished, he left a trail for her to follow and left.

Angel walked hand-in-hand with Buffy. After a long debate between the two she decided to let him walk her home. Angel worried too much, he knew she could take care of herself but he always needed to know she was safe. When they got to her front door, Angel was about to say something until Buffy cut him off with her hand, she motioned for him to look at the window, there was a glow illuminating the entire room. Angel steeped in front of her, morphing into his vampire visage and changing from lover to protector. He opened the door
and dropped his vise at the sight that was set up. Buffy looked under his arm and what she saw caused her to gasp, the entire living room was filled with white and red roses, and lit candles were spread all over, giving the room the bright glow, they had seen outside.

"Um...Angel, please tell me you did this," Buffy said hoping he did

Angel just stared at her silently giving her the answer. "Let's clean this up." She nodded and walked in near the steps, where most of the candles were at. "Angel," she called, he went to her side and saw what she was staring at, a trail of rose petals going up the steps."I wonder where this goes," she said sarcastically, while she followed the trail, blowing out the candles that were along the railing, Angel was right behind her. They followed, until the trail stopped unsurprisingly in front of Buffy's bedroom door. Buffy held her breath as she opened the door, and once again her breath was in a gasp, her room was as it was downstairs, candles were placed on her nightstand giving the bed a small glow, rose petals were led to and on the bed. And on freshly cut rose was placed on her pillow next to a note. Buffy walked toward the bed, blew out the candles and picked up the neatly written paper. It read:

My Dearest Delila,
Your beauty surpass me, just as my never-ending love for you.
I await the day I can hold you in my arms again, gifting me with your touch, the one I crave day and night. I have forgotten your infidelity, and forgive you, remember your promise. I'll accompany you at 10 p.m.

Eternally yours,

J.Kincaid

Buffy finished reading the and looked up at Angel.

"Whose Kincaid?" He asked, curious to know who this man was that obviously had a need for something, and that something was someone he thinks Buffy is.

"I don't know" she answered "But I don't like this". Dropping the note back on the bed. "He's got some major issues, with this Delila person, and I'm not trying to be around when he tries to solve them''. Glancing at the clock they both noticed it was 10 minutes to ten

Angel held his hand out to her" Come on let's go"

"Your don;t have to tell me twice." She said and headed out the room. Angel followed behind her. Before leaving they blew out all the candles downstairs so the house wouldn't catch fire.

A figure began making his way back toward the Summer's home, if you watched closely you could tell the man had a bounce in his step, and was very eager to the presence that would be awaiting him. Until he saw the pair come out of the house, he looked to the girls face hoping she would have a pleased face with what she found. But she didn't looked pleased, she looked almost disgusted. And that hurt him, but what hurt him even more was the presence of another man near her. The man put his arms around her as they made their leave, that man gave her a look that he had no right giving her, a lovers look. The figure came out of the shadows and presented himself infront of the pair.

Buffy and Angel made their from her house, it was obvious they were trying to get as far away as possible, at least Buffy was. As they were getting ready to turn the corner, a figure emerged from the shadows. The two stopped in their tracks, the figure was a tall, well-built man, with jet black hair and firm cheek bones. The man kept his eyes on Buffy, he stared intensely at her
with a look of love and betrayal written all over his face. His face never reverted from hers, ignoring Angel's presence "Delila" he whispered just saying her name made his heart jump.

Angel moved infront of Buffy, becoming her protector again."What do you want"

The man tensed "Mind your business, this has nothing to do with you" he growled

"Kincaid, your Kincaid" Buffy analyzed quickly, stepping out from behind Angel to be by his side.

"Delila, I knew you'd remember" Kincaid replied

"Remember what?" Buffy asked in confusion "That your the one who broke into my house, uninvited, that's stalking didn't ya know."

Looking at her in disbelief. "It was a gift, weren't you pleased?"

"Duh! No"

"Why are you still acting like this Lila? You promised me and I won't lose you again." Glaring at Angel " Not to anyone ever again".

" Ok, let's get something straight, I am not Delila, whoever she is did a good job of leaving you cause you, are a little psychotic

"It's him isn't it" Kincaid said motioning to Angel, his face turned into a mask of anger and rage " You left me for him once and you think you can do it again.

"What??"

"You think I'm going to let you go this time, I don't think so" Kincaid took a step forward in the act of trying to grab Buffy. Angel growled and moved in front of Buffy, he'd had enough of listening to this guy ramble on and on, and when he made move towards Buffy, Angel had really had enough. "Don't touch her"

"I can do whatever I want, she's my wife, she belongs to me and I can touch her anyway I please." Looking toward Buffy "Just like I used to."

Angel snapped at that and lunged at Kincaid. The two were circling each other. Angel was infuriated by the way he talked about touching Buffy, he knew it wasn't really Buffy he was talking about, but the thought of someone else touching her made him sick. Buffy stepped in between the two, to stop them where they were. "Stop!! Look I don't know what your deal is, but it's not our problem and I think you need to get away, before I get violent," she said looking at Kincaid.

"Alright," Kincaid said, still staring directly at Angel. "We'll finish this later, until then, Delila, you're mine, and I'll do everything in my power to keep it that way." He warned them both and walked backwards into the shadows until he disappeared.

Buffy and Angel stood there and watched him leave.

Part 3

Buffy and Angel were on their way back to his place. The walk was silent, yet their movements said everything. Angel's hand was gripped tightly in hers, pulling Buffy as close as possible, after the little confrontation with Kincaid, all Angel wanted to do was keep her in his arms and never let go. Kincaid wants Buffy and that meant taking her away from him, Angel knew the
pain Kincaid must have been unbearable when his love was taken from him, so he assumed, but the pain Angel would feel would be excruciating if Buffy was taken away from him. She had become his strength and desires wrapped in one, she was, no, is the reason he fights. He fights to have another night, another night he could hold her in his arms, even though Angel maybe damned to hell, one moment in her arms is all the heaven he needed. And whatever reasons Kincaid has, didn't mean jack to him.

They arrived at his apartment in record time, Angel pulled out the key to open the door, until he noticed the door was slightly open. "Wait here," he told Buffy, and walked in, anger coursed throughout his body. The entire apartment was trashed. The wall had holes punched through, furniture was ripped, tables broken. Everything had been destroyed. You would have thought it was the random vampire getting revenge for Angel betraying his kind, but he knew who did it, just by looking at the note wrapped a red rose in the middle of the floor. He went to pick it up, and read what he recognized as Kincaid's handwriting:

You can run , but you can't keep her from me.
Enjoy you night together, it'll be your last.
Hope you like the remodeling, where are you going to take her now ?

"Oh, God" Buffy whispered coming into the room. Angel looked up from the note at her, his face was hard as stone.

"Angel, I'm so sorry" She said, she saw the rose in his hand and knew exactly who did this.

"What are you sorry for?" Looking at her with gentle eyes "This isn't your fault."

"But..."

"No." He cut her off "I won't let you blame your yourself. He did this to piss me off, and it worked, he's doing this so we'll do something stupid, and he'll have us where he wants."

"Where are you going to stay?"

Giving her a slight grin "Buffy, I have plenty of places to stay, besides I told you I wanted to move anyway."

Buffy smiled just alittle, knowing what he said was true but she still felt bad about Angel having to adjust unexpectantly because some sicko wants her to be his love toy.

"Come on, let's get what's left and go" Angel said picking up some of his books, Buffy helped. After getting most of his and her stuff that was left into a box, they left.

********

Angel led Buffy across town, to Crawford Street. They approached a mansion, Buffy never knew existed. They walked through a well kept garden, that had a fountain in the center. Even though her mind was on Kincaid and what he might do next, it was blanked out as Buffy's breath caught at the sight, it was the most beautiful thing she seen, Angel looked down at her and smiled, he knew she would like the place that would be his new home. The anger had calmed down about the other apartment, besides this place was bigger and better.

"I've had it since I came to Sunnydale, in case of an emergency." Angel explained, as her eyes wandered, he led her into the main room with a fireplace. "Do you like it?"

"I love it, can..." She stopped herself, she really wanted to ask could she look around, but she still felt alittle guilty about the other apartment. She didn't want to seem shallow.

Angel caught on to the vibe, he knew what she wanted to ask, and he knew why she didn't. Their vibe was so strong at times that their minds and feelings were open books to one another. "Go ahead."

Buffy smiled at him, then took off into the other room to look around. Angel set the box down and began to unpack his stuff, he took his clothes into the bedroom down the long hall. When that was finished, he came back into the main room and sat down on the couch, and went through his books. He had nothing else to do but relax, and keep guard at the sametime, Buffy was safe here, Kincaid wouldn't be able to find her here. Even though it puzzled him how Kincaid knew where he lived, and how he knew Buffy went there. Dismissing the thought for the time being, Angel pulled out the book he had been currently reading, it was one of Giles' old volumes, called "Philosphers of the Occult." It was quite interesting and all of sudden he had an impulse to read it, Angel started turning to the page he had left off at, until some loose pages had fallen out of the book. Cursing under his breath, he set the book down, while gathering up the pages, Angel came to a picture of Buffy or someone who looked like Buffy in old-fashioned clothes. He looked on the back of it, and it read:

"Delila Kincaid, age 22, date: 1903

At that point, Buffy had walked back into the room, she saw Angel staring intensely at a picture, and like other times wished she knew what he was thinking. "What's that?" she asked sitting down beside Angel, he glanced at her and motioned for her to look at the picture. When she looked, she couldn't believe her what she saw, it was her, Buffy took the picture and read what was on the back, it all made sense now, that's why Kincaid thought she was his wife. "Where did you get this?" Her voice demanding for answers, Angel flipped to the page where the picture was, and it gave a full explanation, Buffy scooted closer to see while Angel read:

"Delila Corrigan, a school teacher from London, England. Married to Jonathan Kincaid, a philosopher of demons and the occult, known to be deep into the arts of white and black magic. They were happily married for 5 years, she taught children and he used his knowledge to help people. Into the 3rd year of their marriage Delila Corrigan began an illicit affair with an Irish
merchant, after being neglected by Kincaid. She remained married to Kincaid out of love and respect to him, she continued the affair and he let it continue. After the 5th year, she ran off with her lover, Leaving Kincaid in the state of insanity, he began delving more into the black arts, to search for her. The record stopped after that."

When Angel finished, Buffy sat their trying to process all this info. "I think she left him in little bit more than the state of insanity, how about in the state of psychotic stalker," she said sarcastically.

Angel stared at her wondering how she can make jokes, " Buffy, this is serious, he truly believes your his wife. He's used magic to keep himself young to look for her. And he's going to do whatever is necessary to get you, even if he has to kill."

Breathing a sigh, "I know. So what do you do when your being stalked by a guy who wants you as his honey? I mean I can't hide forever, and I don't really wanted to get to the point where I have to get violent. He maybe dangerous, but I don't think I can kill someone whose looking for there lost love."

Angel couldn't answer that, that was the one problem that couldn't be solved without retorting to violence. "You might have to"

"It's not that simple Angel, put yourself in his shoes."

Angel didn't want to put himself in Kincaid's shoes. He couldn't, the pain he must have gone through. Angel didn't want to imagine what would happen if Buffy left him to be with another, Angel felt only pity for Kincaid at the moment, but it wouldn't justify that he was trying to take Buffy against her will, those were his only motives. But she was right, it's not that simple.

Part 4

Buffy stretched as she walked out of the bedroom, it was around 4 o'clock in the afternoon, since she went to bed late, she figured she waked up later than that. She wasn't complaining though, she had slept wonderfully, no nightmares or anything to plaque her mind. Except one thing, Kincaid, she and Angel had been talking all night about what to do about him and came up with nothing. She didn't know what to do about him, it wasn't like he could sit him down and say ''I'm not your wife, sorry she left you." Buffy sat on the couch in front of the fireplace, for some reason Angel was still sleeping and she didn't want to just lie their tossing and turning, and plus she couldn't think with Angel wrapped all over, she wasn't complaining, it was just alittle distracting. Buffy started to ponder, until she heard a beeping sound, she recognized it as her pager going off. She reached over to the table and pulled her pager out of her purse, the number was her home number, and it had her mother's code for emergency. Her mother must have come home early she thought, Buffy rushed to the phone in the hallway, Joyce never used that code unless it was a real emergency. After ringing for the 3rd time, the other line picked up, "Mom, is that you?"

"Buffy where are you!!?, you need to get home quickly!! I don't know what to do..." The phone line went dead.

"Mom..Mom?"

Buffy dropped the phone and left the mansion, she didn't even think about leaving Angel a note, she call him when she got home, if she could. All that was on her mind was her mother. Buffy turned the corner into Revello Drive as the sun started to set, she it made to her house nonstop, Buffy entered through the front door, "Mom!! Where are you?"

"Right here, sweetheart" She heard her mother's voice from the dining room. Buffy rushed into the dining room, and stopped dead in her tracks. Instead of her mother, she found Kincaid leaning against the table.

"Where's my mother?" She said her voice was threatening, but she dropped it when he answered.

"Mommy's not here" He replied, his voice exactly like her mothers. Returning to his voice, "But I am"

Buffy bolted out of the room, she couldn't believe she fell for that trap. She had just gotten to the front door, until Kincaid appeared in front of it, from the side. Buffy backed away from him, the way he was looking at her made her skin crawl.

Kincaid smiled at her with a look of triumph, he reached his hand out to touch her face, but she flinched, and he didn't know why. "My sweet Lila, I've missed you so much." His eyes roamed her body, her beauty was flawless. She was dressed in a baby blue dress, perfect for the occasion he thought. "Your more beautiful than ever." He whispered

"Yeah sure, what do you hope to get out of this?"

Chuckling, he walked to her to get alittle closer, "It's obvious darling, I'm getting you back. I'm better now, we can start over," said Kincaid, almost as if he was pleading with her.

Buffy looked into his eyes, all she saw was love, love for his wife, but she wasn't his wife. "Listen to me, I'm not Delila. I'm not who you think I am, I'm sorry for you, but you need get over it."

"I'll never stop loving you."

"Look! Don't you get it, she left you, and went on with her life. And stalking me won't bring her back!!" Buffy yelled, she didn't want to yell, but it was probably the only way he'd get it through his head.

Tilting his head to the side, "Alright, I get it. It's him isn't, what's his name 'Angel', he's still trying to keep you from me. I won't let you leave me again Delila, not ever, I'll not rest until we embrace in our bed again." Kincaid began to striking slowly forward, his face a mixture of love and lust. Buffy moved away quickly, her guard was up for whatever he might pull out on her, just the thought of him touching her made her nauseous. She couldn't get to the front or the back door, he was blocking both, but not the stairs. She moved in the direction of the stairs, thinking she could make a run for it.

Kincaid was still trying to persuade her that he loved and worshipped her. "Delila please, I can give you everything you ever wanted, just like before. We could start having a family, just like you wanted before."

Buffy had to think quick on how to get out of there. So she brought up the very subject she knew would unnerve him, and get him to drop his guard, hopefully. "I'll never let you touch me, not the way Angel does....You could never please me, but he does, and I love him, not you. I loved you once, but not until I felt his touch."

Kincaid felt as if she had punched him in the stomach, and had trouble breathing. It took a while for the shock to wear off, then he looked at her fiercely, his anger soared. The way she looked when she spoke of him, like she was desiring more. He dropped his hands into his head shaking it back and forth, "no, no, no, no, no" he repeated, her voice throbbing in his mind, his whole body was trembling. Buffy used that to her advantage and rushed to and up the steps.

Part 5

Angel awoke, finally. He'd never been so tired in his life, Angel wasn't a heavy sleeper so it was alittle strange. He stretched out, until he felt the bed was empty beside him, "Buffy" he called but got no answer. He got up, and walked out into the hallway, and saw the phone was dropped onto the floor, he picked it up and set it back on the table, where Buffy's pager was, he looked at the number that was on it and saw that it was here home number, with the emergency code her mother used. She must have gone home, to see her mother. But her mother was in Hawaii, so she couldn't have gotten home early that quickly, and if she had Buffy would have called, unless she was in trouble. Angel's eyes widened, he realized it might have been a trap to get Buffy to go home, he grabbed his shoes and bolted out of the mansion.

*********

She'd made it to her bedroom that was once again covered with rose petals and candles, her head snapped at the sound of steps pound there way up toward the direction of this room, Buffy headed toward her window, and started to climb out, atleast tried to before Kincaid's arm grabbed her around the waist. Buffy kicked and punched to pull herself out of his grasp, but he held on with such powerful strength.

"Let GO!!" she screamed

He pulled her out of the window, and threw her to the floor. His face hard as stone, when she got up, wobbling, he slapped her across the face. The force causing her to fall onto the bed of rose petals. He smiled slightly and laid on the bed beside her, he grabbed her wrists and held them above her head, Buffy started to squirm under him, but he positioned his body so that she could barely move. Kincaid looked at her with lust in his eyes, "Let's make love again, I'll make you forget him" he said, Buffy stared at him in fright, she tried to push him off of her but he was too big. She opened her mouth to let out a piercing scream, but Kincaid quickly covered her mouth with his own. Buffy felt her stomach clench when he tried to invade her mouth, his hands roamed her body. Tears started to fall from her eyes, she couldn't get him off her.

Kincaid moaned into her mouth, it'd been so long that he'd caressed her like this. He didn't mean to hit her, but he had to show her how much he loved her. He moved him body lower, to bring his lips onto her neck, and that gave Buffy the advantage she needed, she brought her knee into his groin as hard as possible. He doubled over in pain and loosened her wrists. She pushed him off of her, and was about to head toward the door, but Kincaid had brought his hand up and pulled her leg, making her fall to the ground, Kincaid was on her in a second, he pulled her body into his own, holding her with that same strength as before. Buffy kept elbowing him in his ribs to get him to loosen his grip, this time she didn't see him reach into his pocket, when her elbow connected with his ribs for the 20th time, she felt a sharp prick in her arm. Her eyes darted down to see him plunging a needle into her arm. She whimpered as she felt a burning sensation as it's contents entered her bloodstream. Then he pulled it out and turned her body to face him, with a sigh on his breath.

Buffy's eyes started to droop, feeling the fire spread through her body. "No...stop." she murmured

"Sleep darling, when you awake I'll worship you in my arms." That was the response she heard before all was black. Kincaid gathered her up in his arms and laid her gently on the bed, laying a kiss on her forehead before leaving the room, to get the necessities for the evening they would have when she woke up.

On to Part 6
