Southfork as been home to the Ewings for many, many years now. Founded by Enoch Southworth in 1840, Southfork has become the largest Ranch in Texas. Southfork was started when Enoch wanted to raise cattle. The ownership went from Enoch, to his son, Aaron. Before Enoch’s death, he made Aaron promise that Oil would never be drilled on the land. Aaron, almost broke that promise, back in the 1930’s when the US was in a depression, and Southfork was in finical trouble, Aaron’s daughter, Eleanor Southworth, saw the pain that her daddy was in, so after meeting Jock Ewing, she married him, because she new he could help with the Ranch. Aaron left the ranch to Ellie and Jock and made Ellie promise that Oil, never be drilled on the land. The main house that the Ewings live in is not the original Southfork. In the 1950’s Southfork had a huge fire and the main house burned down. Jock built a new Southfork, and even though it was smaller, it was home.
The promise that Ellie made her daddy was almost broken. In the late 1970’s the oldest son, J.R. took a mortgage out and almost lost the ranch. After Jocks death, Ellie became soul owner of Southfork. Ellie remained soul owner until she made her second husband, Clayton Farlow, co-owner. In 1990, Bobby Ewing, the youngest son, of Jock and Ellie, was given the Ranch. Bobby loved the Ranch just as much as his Mother and Grandfather, Bobby tried to sell Southfork once, back in 1996 right before J.R. Returned to Dallas.
Since then, Southfork as become home to more and more Ewings each year. Because Southfork was seeing more and more people, Bobby added onto the right wing, adding four extra bed rooms, a bigger Dinning Room, and a toy room for the younger Ewings. Through the years, BObby and Pam have decided to travel, and move to Europe. Bobby still owns Southfork, although he and Pam haven’t lived there for a long time.

In the mid 1980's Miss Ellie gave Ray 2000 acres of land. Ray built a new house, and started his own Ranch. a few years later, Ray moved to Switzerland with his wife Jenna and her children. The Krebbs Ranch was sold to Carter McKay, who started a range war with Southfork. Carter became CEO of WestStar, but was let go because of a bad murder wrap. MacKay sold the Ranch to Michelle Stevens, who gave it to Bobby. Bobby later gave it back to Ray. In the late 1990's MacKay bought the Ranch back from Ray because he wanted the Oil under it. (The mineral rights is deeded to the Ewing grandchildren so MacKay could drill if he wanted to) MacKay sold it to Dusty Farlow in 1998. Eventually Ray ended up with the Ranch, but has left it to his Children, 1/3 to Margert, 1/3 to Lucas, and 1/3 to Charlie.
