107 - Escape From New York - Boyfriend
Dawson is alone flipping through the TV. He ends up on American Movie Classics. Joey enters and tells the horror story of her sisters new baby. Dawson says she can crash in his room. Dawson wants to know what happened to the days where the well intentioned geek could get the girl. He gets no answer, as Joey is sleeping.
Gale and Mitch are trying to have a normal conversation, but it seems forced. They end up repeating topics.
Pacey is sitting on a bus bench, then gets up to cross the street, almost being hit by a car. The guy in the car asks for directions to the high school. Pacey wants a lift to the school, but he advises him not to ride with such a reckless driver.
Joey continues with her rough time at home. She didn't have time to study for Spanish. Bessie says that they are just in an adjustment period. 2-3 years max.
Dawson is helping Joey study her Spanish. He says that him and Jen are going great. Jen comes and greets Dawson. The guy who almost hit Pacey enters the hallway. Jen tells Dawson that she has to go. We learn that his name is Billy, Jen's ex from New York. Dawson watches as she goes off with him for a drive. Cliff asks Dawson if Jen has a boyfriend. Dawson tells him that he is her boyfriend. Cliff invites them to a BBQ he's having.
Mitch and Gale have a hard time finding things to do that they both can enjoy.
Billy tells Jen that he needs a place to crash for the night. Jen asks Dawson if he will help them out. We learn that Billy is “Mr. Got-caught-doing-it-in-your-parents-bed.” Dawson agrees, but isn't happy.
Billy tells Dawson that he doesn't know the half of what Jen was like in New York. Dawson says he knows all. Billy says he needs to tell him the stories, not just the headlines.
Dawson goes over to Joey's. He is upset about his current relationship with Jen. Joey tells him to sit tight and let it all blow over. Dawson is happy again. As he leaves, the door slams behind him, waking the baby up.
Jen says to Dawson that Billy has only treated her with respect. Jen has to think about if she's going back to him. Last time Dawson checked, he treated her with respect too. Dawson invites Jen to Cliffs party.
Joey enters "Screen Play" to find Pacey watching a movie. She wants to rent "The English Patient" as it put the baby to sleep. Pacey asks if she is really enjoying the fact that Jen's ex is in town. This is the wedge that she's been waiting for to drive Jen and Dawson apart. Joey walks away.
Mitch and Gale return home from a not to well lesson in scuba-lessons.
Joey is swamped at the Icehouse with customers. Pacey invites Joey to go to the party with him. She says she's too busy. Bessie tells Joey to go and have a good time.
Dawson has a talk with his dad about romance tips. Mitch tells him that all relationships need compromise.
Jen tells Billy it's time for him to go home. He says one last kiss, then he will go. Jen kisses him then walks away.
At the party, Joey is left alone by Pacey. Dawson arrives and offers to get Joey a drink then they can hit the video store. While getting the drinks, Jen sees him and wants to talk. A guy offers Joey a drink. She accepts when she sees Dawson on the beach with Jen. Billy shows up. He says that their good-bye kiss had more kiss than good-bye.
Joey seems a little out of it. Pacey tries to help her, but she walks out with the guy.
After arguing over who is the third wheel between them, Jen says she is, and leaves Dawson and Billy standing.
The guy is trying to kiss Joey, and she is to gone to mind. Pacey interrupts and tells Joey to say good-night to the serial-rapist man. Pacey ends up punching him out. Joey falls to the ground to have Dawson at her side. He's her hero.
Dawson and Pacey bring Joey home. Pacey goes to the baby to try to keep him asleep. He wakes the baby. To quite him down, he tells him the story of "The English Patient". Dawson sets Joey down on the couch. Joey pulls Dawson close and kisses him.
Mitch tells Gale that they don't need something new, but rather something old, like dancing. So they dance.
Billy packs up and leaves. He warns Dawson that he can make it to Capeside in under 4 hours. Dawson sees Jen on the dock. Jen says that she needs time alone, and that they are over. It's over.
