213 - His Leading Lady

Dawson and Joey finish watching a movie. He’s happy. It was their first official movie night, post-breakup. He takes out some pictures of auditioners to show her. She can’t believe he’s OK with how they are now. He’s still casting for the role of Sammy (aka Joey) for his movie Creek Daze. She tells him to find an actress who can bring her own unique interpretation to the role. Again she brings up the relationship. He let her go, after she let him go. She says goodnight as he looks over pictures for possible Sammy’s.

Joey is an art class sketching a nude female model. The instructor comments on Joey’s excellent work. Dawson then enters to give her his new script. He turns around and notices the model. He stares. The instructor asks him to leave. The model smirks as Dawson trips on his way out.

Pacey is checking out his butt in Andie’s mirror. Andie is in her bathroom. She grabs a pill bottle and takes a few, throwing the bottle away. Pacey blows his nose and finds the pill bottle, but says nothing.

Dawson is looking through the library. He spots the model. Her name is Devon. He can’t how she can model naked. She’s a drama major. He tells her he’s directing a movie. “Ah, and your trying to make your first film. That’s cute. Good luck.” He tells her how it’s his second, and is funded. He offers her to cast for the role of Sammy, and gives her a script

Grams introduces Jen to Tyson Hicks. Jen asks him if her can help on the movie. He wants to help.

Dawson and Pacey are re-arranging his posters. Pacey’s talking about Andie’s Xanax. He’s worried about her. Dawson tells him to just make her time with him stress free. Pacey thinks Dawson telling his life story in his own bedroom is a little perverse.

Devon comes over to see Dawson after reading his script. She doesn’t have many good things to say about it. He doesn’t think she’s right for the part anyway. “So because I have an opinion of your script, your not going to let me read for the part? If you can’t take a little constructive criticism, you’re never gonna make it. Good luck in High School. Sorry I wasted my time.” He’s sorry. He lets her audition. She does great. She has the role.

Jack tells Joey that he’s helping on the movie too. Joey goes to serve a table which Devon is sitting at. (Joey doesn’t know her) Devon copies everything Joey says and does. Joey tells Jack to help that girl. Devon asks Jack to tell her everything he knows about Joey.

Pacey asks to talk to Andie about the pill bottle. “It’s my mothers.” “If you don’t want to talk about it, that’s fine, Andie, but don’t lie to me.” She says how she’s out of them and is going to try therapy now.

Dawson is trying to direct a practice scene with Devon, Chris, and Jen as herself. Chris says a line in the wrong way. It makes Wade (Dawson) sound like he’s after a ménage à trois. Joey arrives. Dawson introduces her to Devon. they’ve met. Devon has a couple dozen questions to ask. Joey isn’t happy.

Filming is not going well. Technical problems. Jen asks Ty what’s the problem. He says she makes him loose his concentration. “Down boy.”

Jack has a feeling Dawson isn’t over Joey. She tells him he is and not to worry about it.

Filming seems to be coming along. Devon keeps an eye on Joey. Devon’s copying of all of Joey’s mannerisms is scaring Joey.

Jen asks Ty is her would like to go out after they finish this scene. He agrees, as long as it’s in his hands.

Devon and Chris are asking Dawson for character advice. He tries to explain to Devon that Sammy’s an angry girl. He explains to Chris the agony felt of loosing Joey... ahem... Sammy.

Devon asks Joey how she’s angry by nature. “I personally am not angry by nature. That would be the fictional part of this autobiographical tale.” “Joey catches on to her attempt to get her angry. Devon breaks through with a question about dating one guy and being in love with another. Joey yells at her. ‘Thank you.” Under her breath Joey says “She’s too short to play me.”

Andie is going nuts on Devon for loosing a prop. Devon doesn’t care. Pacey takes Andie away. Andie twists Pacey’s words around and thinks that is he really cared about her, he would back off and leave her alone.

They are filming the scene where Dawson and Joey, I mean Wade and Sammy are fighting after the dance. Dawson loves how it is shot. Joey grabs Dawson and takes him aside. She doesn’t understand how he can be so OK with it. She has a new boyfriend, and her passion for art. He only has his movie. He’s clinging onto it for life.

Grams tells Jen that today she saw how Jen was so in charge. She’s proud. In her day, a woman didn’t have many options. Now they can be whatever they want, and without a man by their side. Ty walks in and asks Jen when she’s ready to go. Grams tells her to have a good time.

Pacey tells Dawsonn about him and Andie. Dawson tells him to let go. He won’t. She needs him.

Ty and Jen arrive at a house of one of his friends. They gather around and open up their bibles.

Pacey brings Andie a rose, but she tells him to go away. He crawls up to her window and tells her he’s not staying away. They kiss.

Chris and Devon leave the set. She tells Dawson he shows real potential. Joey and Dawson are alone. She apologizes for coming down so hard on him. He thought that doing this movie would put the past behind him in one swoop. He says he’s not over her. She’s his best friend. It’s to move on, they agree. Jack arrives and the two of them run along. Dawson walks around the school lawn, alone in the dark.
