Zack: I still say this little clue Carmen left behind looks a lot like a totem pole carving from somewhere in the Pacific Northwest.
Ivy: Yeah, but infoscanning all these possibilites could take hours.
Chief: Okay, listen up, you eagle-eyed clue birds! Crimenet's just learned that three other thefts over the last 24 hours are definitely the work of Carmen Sandiego!
Ivy: The largest blue diamond in the world, some anti-crime sticky foam for stopping criminals in their tracks, and $10 million from Fort Knox?
Zack: But those aren't your typical Carmen crimes, Chief. And what'd she want with that goo stuff?
Ivy: Player, cross-reference these items with the ivory spear she stole in Alaska. There's gotta be some connection we're missing.
Chief: Jackpot, jackpot! Records indicate all these items were things Carmen once stopped other crooks from stealing back when she was a detective!
Zack: Get out of town!
Ivy: What?
Chief: Extra, extra, read all about it! Whoa, gotta get a new paperboy.

Zack: Who's this Suhara guy, Chief?
Chief: He used to be Carmen's partner back when she was an Acme detective.
Ivy: So where is Detective Suhara now?
Chief: Well, to tell you the truth, after Carmen went bad, Suhara took it kind of rough. He quit detective work altogether, and now he lives alone in San Francisco. [FILE MISSING]

Ivy: Do you get the feeling from talking to Suhara, he hasn't left his apartment for a few years, Zack?
Zack: Ivy, how's some old washed up detective gonna help us nail Carmen?
Ivy: If she's stealing items she once saved from other criminals, her ex-partner may know something that will help us figure out why.

Zack: Well, I've read this newspaper cover to cover and I still don't see any connection between it and the clue Carmen left us this morning.
Suhara: Carmen left you a clue this morning?
Ivy: Suhara?
Suhara: When you didn't come back, my curiosity got the best of me. It's been a while since anything sparked my interest like this case. Now, you were saying something about a clue?
Zack: So far, the computer's infoscan hasn't found a match. But hey, only a couple million Native American carvings to scroll through, it'll figure out the connection and nab Carmen.
Suhara: Then, you will never find her, Zack.
Zack: Why not?
Suhara: Because this is not Native American. It is Japanese.
Ivy: Like the newspaper!
Suhara: It's an ancient netsuke. I believe Carmen's secretly trying to tell you something. This very netsuke was a special gift from me to Carmen after she solved a very difficult case.
Ivy: What case was it? Maybe Carmen's going after something you saved that time!
Zack: It fits the pattern.
Suhara: I believe it was an antique bunraku puppet. Yes, one that was stolen from Doll Town in Tokyo.

Zack: What's this newspaper got to do with some old Japanese puppet show?
Suhara: I. M. Sumo, the crook Carmen and I once arrested for stealing those bunraku puppets, has since gone straight. And it seems he's appearing in Tokyo this week.
Zack: So you got lucky.
Suhara: Perhaps it is more than luck that is leading us to Carmen tonight. A friend from World War II has an old transport plane. He'll gladly fly us to Tokyo.
Zack: Whoa, whoa, wait a sec. Check in with the twentieth century, Suhara. We have the C-5 corridor. And where's this "us" stuff all of a sudden?
Ivy: He wants to go with us, Zack.
Zack: Ivy, he's--look at him! I mean, he's old, and just slow us down.
Ivy: Another way to look at it is he's old and has a lifetime of experience. I have seniority on this team and I say we invite him.

Zack: Ack! Argh, this old crate is gonna take forever to get us to Japan!
Suhara: Patience is the most important element to being a good detective, Zack.
Zack: I'm sorry, I can't stick around. Player, C-5 me to the Sumo Wrestling Arena in Tokyo, Japan, pronto!
Ivy: Zack! Oh!
Suhara: This is a good day.

Suhara: The good news is we found I. M. Sumo. He couldn't imagine why Carmen might be after the puppets we stopped him from stealing ten years ago.
Ivy: But he said if they were anywhere, they'll be at the National Bunraku Theater in downtown Tokyo.
Zack: And what's the bad news?
Suhara: You won the match, and the title round is tomorrow.
Zack: *groaning* Ohhhh...

Zack: A closed theater is the perfect place for Carmen to pull off a robbery. We've got her this time for sure!
Suhara: I will go inside first. You two wait until I give a signal.
Ivy: Zack! We're supposed to wait!
Zack: No! We're supposed to be detectives! And Suhara hasn't been on a case in over ten years! He could blow this, Ivy!
Ivy: Zack! Zack!

Carmen: Greetings, Suhara-sama!
Suhara: Carmen. It has been a long time. Though I must say, it was easier finding you than I anticipated.
Carmen: I'm disappointed, Suhara. I thought you'd offer more of a challenge. But I suppose you've lost the power and grace you once possessed from too many years locked away in...self-pity.
Suhara: You are the one who has lost something, Carmen.
Carmen: Suhara! Take my hand!

Ivy: Suhara!
Suhara: I'm okay. But I am too old for this sort of thing. I should've known better.
Zack: Well, she got away, so what do we do now?
Suhara: A teacher must teach, Zack. So a student can do. I think tea is what's needed now.
Zack: Tea? Tea? How are we ever gonna catch Carmen if we're always stopping for tea?!

Zack: Just one cup. Then we pick up Carmen's trail, okay?
Suhara: Chanoyu takes four hours, Zack.
Zack: Four hour--wait! This is chanoyu? The famous Japanese tea ceremony?
Suhara: It teaches us there is time for everything. Time to enjoy the color of the teacups, the flowers in the garden. Time to find peace.
Zack: Hmph!

Suhara: That was exceptional.
Zack: Suhara, buddy, you help us bust Carmen and we'll give you unlimited access to the C-5 for life.

Carmen: I wondered what was taking you so long. What a shame you're too late to stop me from stealing this ancient canteen we onced saved together. It has such sentimental value.

Carmen I've got to go now, detectives, but it looks like you'll be sticking around for a while yet.

Suhara: Zack, the bow and arrow. You have the only shot.

Carmen: Nice shooting, Zack. Suhara's a good teacher. But soon you'll realize, the wiser you become, the more you have to learn.

Zack: Hold it! If you knew how to get us out, why did you make me take that shot?
Suhara: How else would you that you could?

Ivy: It's a Zen thing, Zack. You'll get it eventually...maybe.
