WEEK OF APRIL 5, 1999

Monday, April 5, 1999
We start off this week with another moment where Sara gets upset. Hey I would too if I saw my lover, I mean boyfriend, comforting my whiny and pouty sister. Oops, I mean I understand Sara's feelings. Conniving liar's have feelings too!

Meanwhile, Sean tries to ask his mother if she shot Francesca. And Sean got his answer, well actually, Sean got what he wanted to hear. Of course Olivia denied any sort of killing, gun, murder, and what not to Sean (she might as well have denied being an alcoholic)...but Sean, the only good, loving and trusting Richards fiercely believed his mother. Then we graciously encounter the other Richards', stick figure Caitlin and her multiple personality father Gregory. Caitlin declares (once again) that Trey is hers and only hers and that her mother will not have custody of her son. Wait a minute, Trey is Olivia's son, but Caitlin, Olivia's daughter, raised him as if she was his mother won't let HER mother have HER son (emphasize the second "her" and it should all make sense)....

And poor poor Cole. He gets the one thing that he really doesn't need right now, no not another appearance in one of Annie's game show/talk show/variety show/Star Search fantasies, but a restraining order preventing him from going near Trey. Can't this man, dimples and all, be happy for once? Oh woe is Cole. He experiences struggle after struggle after struggle. . .

And the most important part of Monday, some unknown figure plants a gun in Olivia's house....uh oh get out the VCR remote, I feel another DRAGGING STORYLINE coming on....

Tuesday, April 6, 1999
We are cordially invited to witness a Stick Girl and Vagabond--oops I mean Caitlin and AJ conversation...okay okay it was a squabble. Briefly, it went something like this:
AJ: You had a good reason to kill Francesca.
Caitlin: YOU had a good reason to kill Francesca.
AJ: So YOU must have killed Francesca.
Caitlin: No YOU must have killed Francesca.

...Hello you guys, NEWS FLASH. Francesca isn't dead. She lives on ... in Annie's fantasies, Antonio's prayers, and Gabi's flashbacks...but I guess that's not good enough for you two huh?

Speaking of the Holy Trinity, Ricardo asks his guilt ridden, and I do mean guilt RIDDEN priest for a brother to marry him and Gabi. And the guilty yet agreeable Antonio cannot refuse. Have you noticed how good he looks when he lies? He has captured the perfect combination of agony, guilt, and lust. Too bad he's a priest or he could make a really good...oh wait, that didn't matter to him anyway.

Wednesday, April 7, 1999
Ricardo grows more brain overnight (well as all of you know, his brain is still developing in the area of his fiancee and brother) and presses Brat Girl (Amy) on her supposed witness to OIivia's whereabouts on the night of Francesca's murder. Sorry folks, no dragging the storyline for two more weeks here, Amy admits to Ricardo she lied for Olivia.

Bette finds a gun in her couch and freaks out. Bette's monologues are great, will someone please give her someone ELSE to talk to? Who knows what will happen if they give Bette a partner--other than her accented alcoholic best friend--they might actually have a GOOD SCENE! Hey, maybe even some CHEMISTRY! Wait, I don't think the Sunset writers are familiar with this "chemistry" because everytime they actually HAVE some between two people, they BREAK IT UP!

Thursday, April 8, 1999
After Bette confronts Olivia about the firearm in her sofa, the two come up with a plan to get rid of it. Hey guys, ever hear of telling Ricardo so that he won't be suspiscious of them? Nevermind. Ricardo's suspiscious of ALL that is not and is NOT suspiscious of what is in front of his face.

Hence, Gabi his fiancee and his hot and conflicted priestly brother Antonio. Those two knuckleheads are still trying to track down the infamous tape of [say in Gabi's high pitched frantic voice or Antonio's passionate and sorrowful tone] "US MAKING LOVE". They decided to destroy the tape at all costs. Bomb it, throw it in the ocean, burn it, put it wherever Leo and Jimmy and all the people that left the show but didn't die went (cause everybody knows if you die on Sunset Beach you're ALWAYS going to come back, in spirit for fantasy or flashback form), whatever's clever for them. Great ideas guys, but first, FIND THE TAPE!

Friday, April 9, 1999
Meg gets a backbone and stands up. "It's ALL about BENJY!" she screams to Ben. FINALLY Meg, you are learning something. The ever calm Ben tries to calm her down. Surprise surprise. But you know what Ben, IT'S NOT HELPING.

At the mission, Gabi and Antonio are ecstatic that they have a lead on "the tape". Gabi's precise words:"...we can finally put that night and what we did behind us." And of course, the two decide to seal that agreement with an embrace --a very long embrace I might add. Good thing Madame Carmen walks in. Whew, who knows what that embrace would have led to?

Meanwhile, Maria walks in on Tess and Sara "discussing" Seattle and Kansas. Did you notice how tall Tess is? She towers over Sunset's current Tall Queen, Sara. I guess that title's stripped away from her...among other things. Have you seen Casey and Sara lately? As that one commerical says, "once you start, you can't stop."

Is Thanksgiving celebrated in April on Sunset Beach? Or is that just Bette's and Olivia's place? And they can't even celebrate it because Ricardo decides to barge into their home unannounced (not like Ricardo announces where he's going to barge in and out to anyway). Do I see a pattern here? First Carmen, then Maria, now Ricardo. Does this run in the Torres family?

Whether it's in the Torres genes or not, all this walking in on people brings about good scenes! Carmen tells Antonio that she felts that Gabi betrayed Ricardo by having another man in her bed. Maria and Tess make funny little sarcastic comments about Sara's motives. And Ricardo STILL can't find the gun that shot Francesca (now what did I say on Monday about the DRAGGING STORYLINE).

Leave it to Brad, sporting yet ANOTHER Hawaiian shirt, to be the first to grab at Thanksgiving dinner. He helps himself to a drumstick and out *pops* a gun. And of course, Ricardo is no where to be found. That's because he's at the precint, trying to question (more like bark commands) Bette and Olivia.

* Quote Of The Week *
Well it wasn't really a quote, but it was said on the show, just not directly out of someone's mouth. Annie was talking to herself again (in her head) and she decides to tell herself, "Don't be a dope Annie--THINK!"

That's the best advice I'd ever give myself if I was thinking to myself.

WEEK OF APRIL 12, 1999

Monday, April 12, 1999
I spotted Brad in chomping down on a drumstick from Olivia and Bette's Thanksgiving dinner. I also spotted the gun in the turkey's behind. BUT, seeing Brad, who's probably going blind from his shirt being too loud, missed the gun. Bette and Olivia have some sort of mix between cat fight/squabble/witches of eastwick conversation with Ricardo. I couldn't really hear because their high pitched voices must have been out of my hearing range. Gregory accomplished in putting MORE pressure on Caitlin, urging her to sign divorce papers from Cole. We might as well start calling her Puppet Girl.

Tuesday, April 13, 1999
Annie finds the firearm in the turkey's gut. She spouts off talking to herself about guns and who's framing who and blah blah I zoned out when it turned into a three hour monologue about Cole as a suspect in Francesca's murder, laced with valley girl slang and wannabe sexy beat music. You know, a regular Annie scene. I was kinda surprised it didn't turn into another warped game show fantasy. Gregory decides to pluck Vanessa from the headline news department and places her in the "Life and Style" category. Vanessa is the only smart one on Sunset Beach because she realizes that he's pulling her from the Vargas murder story. Gregory, as all wicked, mean, and schizophrenic villans do, gets his way. It looks like Michael and Vanessa are getting something that they haven't had for months. Hey, hey get your mind out of the gutter, Michael and Vanessa finally get some AIR TIME.

Wednesday, April 14, 1999
Cole and Caitlin relive their own separate memories about their romance. It was nice to see the old and redone memories. I enjoyed them alot. Did you order the extra CHEESE on Caitlin's emotions? Cuz I sure didn't. Not that I'm complaining, but why does Cole get to just sit around and look sexy as he reminisces about his marriage? Caitlin, in the meantime, has to deal with Gregory bantering on her to divorce Cole and live with him and Trey. Yes, that's what I'd do. I'd leave my HUSBAND (a very hot and dimpled young husband I might add) for my loony bin FATHER and my one year old BROTHER that I still love as my SON. Anything else, Puppet Girl? Gabi and Antonio manage to find the only cabin in Big Bear that is in a secluded area and discover (surprise surprise) that they are snowed in. Gee, we didn't see that one coming now did we?

Thurssday, April 15, 1999
Gabi and Antonio find themselves in a sticky predicament ... snowed in a cabin, in Big Bear, alone, together .... uh oh remember what happened last time? And I must ask why they happen to stumble upon the ONLY cabin with only ONE blanket and a LITTLE firewood. And Antonio is supposedly a priest? Where has all his prayers gone Whoa, that must have been where Francesca intercepted them. Heh heh heh.

Oh no! Gregory implants bad ideas of Cole and Olivia in bed in Caitlin's head. Not only are they bad to Caitlin, but I HAD to sit through them too. And I couldn't even press forward on the VCR because I was in shock and disgust with the images of Cole and Olivia laughing wickedly in a crisp white bed. As I was gagging, Gregory pressures Puppet-I mean Caitlin to walk away from Cole, using Trey as an excuse. He makes her sign the divorce papers.

I smell a new storyline coming on ... or is it an excuse for Casey and Meg to get closer? Turns out, this new resort that's being built is dumping an excess amount of waste into the bay. Meg's been too preoccupied making faces at Ben and Benjy that she plumb forgot about HER JOB! But you know what, up until today, I had no idea Meg had a job. I didn't even know she owned a business suit. It's not like she mentions how bad or busy work is. What, with an on-again-off-again fiancee and my sister's boyfriend pawing at me, I would be preoccupied too! Superhero Casey saves the day and Meg gets more frustrated and tells Ben to take care of Benjy as she will take care of herself. How many times has Annie changed this week? First the pale green dress, then that white suit/Snoopy detective outfit, now a ruffly pink tank top. Did she all of a sudden get a new wardrobe in the matter of twenty minutes? Well you know how that Sunset Time goes anyway.

It seems as if Tim Truman has gotten over Meg in a jiffy. He introduces himself to Tess and states how he's heard a lot about her and that it's a "pleasure" to meet her. I'm sure he's MORE than excited, if ya know what I mean.

Meanwhile, Gimme Antonio's Body Immediately (a.k.a. G.A.B.I) and Priest Boy struggle to keep warm. Anyways, as two thirds of the the trinity experience warm bliss, the last third (Ricardo) is trying to persuade a robber to put the gun down at the Java Web (talk about parallel). Annie, who wears every thing BUT headphones, suddenly appears with headphones on and makes a beeline for Maria. She finally realizes the whole place is BEING ROBBED and screams (can we say DELAYED REACTION?). The robber moves and pulls the trigger. Ricardo decides to be heroic and jumps in front of Annie. Maria screams. And who says there's no drama?

Friday, April 16, 1999
Caitlin finds a nice surprise in Cole's jacket .... the gun that was in Olivia's turkey (because Annie planted it there). Antonio and Gabi, who are stranded in a cabin in Big Bear, decide to make up MORE lies in order to cover up the FIRST LIE that they made. Antonio decides to be smart and says,"We are becoming really good liars." I have two words, "Duh, Antonio." Annie and Maria are freaking out because Ricardo is bleeding all over the Java Web from a shot in his chest.

THEN you have Ben and Meg getting down (and I really do mean GETTING DOWN) because they popped up (and I really do mean POPPED UP) from behind the couch in Meg's office when Annie calls relaying the information about Ricardo's shooting. Tyus makes some tough decisions as he operates on Ricardo.

* Quote Of The Week *
This week's is handed down to Michael. Not only because he hasn't been on since what, last month, but because he was very cute when he tells Vanessa at the Java Web, "I'm your FLUFF piece".

WEEK OF APRIL 19, 1999

Monday, April 19, 1999
Everyone rushes to Maria to give her support while Ricardo undergoes an operation. Everyone but Gabi and Antonio .... cause we know where they are--working out their "problems" with each other. Personally, I think an attraction to Antonio is NOT a problem...but wait, I forgot. Antonio is Ricardo's brother...and oh yeah. He's a priest. Can I just say one thing? "HELLO GABI! Is anyone home?" But while the town goes to root for Ricardo's life, two cops from the SBPD arrive at AJ's suite with a search warrant. Cole, Caitlin, and the gun, which has been the most interesting character for the past week because it's the most sought after item on Sunset Beach, (I'm going to have to admit it's hotter than Cole) are all at the suite.

Ricardo makes it through surgery and the Amazing Tyus manages to take the bullet out. Will someone please give this man a Nobel Prize or something? Hey, how about more AIR TIME...or even better, how about a STORYLINE!

Why does Maria's hair get bigger and bigger everytime I see her? It went from a nice, sleek, sort of pasted-against-the-head look, to this a-little-too-teased look that looked like she just woke up. Please don't let her turn into an Olivia clone. I don't want to overdose on high volume hair.

Speaking of overdose, guess who we spot in hot tub bliss while Ben comforts Maria and Meg stands to the side with her hands across her chest, pouting? Casey and Sara. Who else would be getting down during a crisis? If it's not Meg and Ben, it's gotta be the other Cummings' sister, Sara. So Sara and Mr. I'm-A-Lifeguard-So-I-Can't-Let-The-Bay-Get- Polluted discuss what's all in a day's work.

Finally, after the THREE scenes Cole and Caitlin had during the WHOLE show (all three scenes had the same point: Cole and Caitlin trying to figure out what to do about Trey and Caitlin trying to find a way to ask Cole about the gun she found in his coat), Caitlin is caught by the cops with the gun in her hand.

Tuesday, April 20, 1999
We open the show with Olivia and Bette talking about Gregory and his possible plans to frame Olivia for Frannie's murder. I have had more than enough of my fair share of Bette/Olivia scenes the past two weeks (remember makeshift Thanksgiving?). But these two redeem themselves with this scene. Bette mentions how the police can even frame suspects by planting evidence--and that they do it all the time on TV. And Olivia retorts with, "Oh stop! That's television, THIS is Sunset Beach!" And they STILL can't figure out where the gun is.

Here's a suggestion, how about you check CAITLIN'S HAND? Cause that's where the gun is FINALLY spotted. Now Cole, Caitlin, Spence, and Ruiz (the SBPD officers) all take a trip to the station. AJ and Annie run into them at the lobby and follow them. Isn't all very convient (annoyingly convenient) that Annie AND AJ are at the lobby when the gun is finally found? And why did Annie CHANGE AGAIN? I'm actually glad she got out of that ridiculous pink ruffly thing...but then she put on some little black dress to go check on the gun she planted in Cole's jacket. And the relevance of the dress is what again? Oh wait, it IS Annie, that explains it.

Hey! Brad FINALLY changed out of that loud Hawaiian shirt . . . into a drab looking polka dot shirt. He probably went blind from the Hawaiian shirt and had to tune down the brightness of his clothing. EMILY, out of all people suggests to SEAN, her BOYFRIEND, that AMY, Sean's EX-GIRLFRIEND, stay with SEAN at the Richards' mansion. Will someone please tell me what Emily is on?

Meanwhile, at the station, Caitlin is questioned by the D.A. Caitlin admits the gun is hers. She is placed under arrest because her gun was used to kill Francesca Vargas.

Wednesday, April 21, 1999
Caitlin confesses to the D.A. that she shot Francesca Vargas. Okay wait, first of all, I really did not appreciate how Caitlin talks to herself and that we get to HEAR her voice and her thoughts going on in her head. I have certainly had more than my fair share of Caitlin's voice overs...and come to think of it...everyone ELSE's voice overs as well.

Thursday, April 22, 1999
Cole desperately tries to persuade the D.A. that Caitlin did not shoot Frannie. But the D.A. retorts with some sort of enlightenment,"Maybe she's not so bright."

Gabi returns to a dark home, with Carmen sitting in the dark. All I know is all this Spanish comes out of both of their mouths, and then Carmen slaps Gabi across the face. Whoa, that's what I call an easy prediction.

Meanwhile Maria confronts Antonio about Gabi. All this while poor Ricardo is trying to recover from a gunshot wound. Antonio grows a brain and decides to tell Maria that he and Gabi made love. "It hasn't, it didn't, it's not going to." When did he become so smart? When did he finally figure this out? Oh, ok, only like two months later, that's all. Why could Gabi have another lover anyway? Ricardo's pastel shirts do a lot of me, don't you think?

Chaos erupts at the station and where is Detective Torres? Lying in bed, recovering from a gunshot wound, fantasizing about his fiancee but not knowing that she was trying to fight her attraction to his brother....

Caitlin tells Cole that she wanted to frame him for Frannie's murder. Cole, is just as confused as Ricardo, except Ricardo's doing a better job lying in the hospital bed.

Caitlin adds three new words in her vocabulary, "I killed Francesca." It seems as if these are her favorite words since she spits them out every other minute! Will someone at least add some synonyms in there? PLEASE!?

Friday, April 23, 1999
Okay kids can be cute...but the level of cuteness can equal a level of annoyance. And Benjy's cuteness factor is just wearing thin. All the kid does is complain about Meg. Well maybe I'd complain too if Meg was trying to cover me in sugar every time I came in contact with her. Anymore sweet gestures and Benjy will drown in syrup.

Gabi decides not to tell Ricardo about sleeping with his brother the priest. Surprise surprise. Didn't see that one coming did ja? And it seems Madame Carmen's predictions are getting stronger....she saw in her cards that Gabi was with her lover...but Carmen's intuition is weakening (I think she's still recovering from that slap she gave Gabi). She hasn't put two and two together. She still thinks that Gabi and Antonio are just friends. Yeah, and Caitlin shot Francesca.

Meanwhile, Ricardo has just found enlightenment (well, every OTHER enlightment, since now Maria knows about Antonio and Gabi's tryst) and decides to do what's best for him: marry Gabi immediately. The only thing Gabi can do is agree.
