WEEK OF JULY 5, 1999

Monday, July 5, 1999
So, today was this television news magazine storyline recap thing. What I loved most was that there was so much Bette and Meg's caption under her name. I can't exactly remember what it was, but it was great, especially since I don't like Meg anymore. By the way, they took my name for Tess. I've been calling her the Nanny from Hell for months now.

Tuesday, July 6, 1999
Vanessa gets her old job back and has to tell Michael right away. He has a little romantic beach picnic planned for her. That spot of the beach gets quite a bit of action. Antonio yells at Carmen for the tape and photos. He looks so good when he's mad =) Ricardo tells Gabi to look him in the eye and tel him she doesn't love him. She can't, so they go back to Sunset Beach. Maria tells Ben that she doesn't think the Nanny from Hell wants her to get her memory back. Then she cansels her trip to Seattle. Too bad, I hear it's a nice place. Tess is telling Benjy he has to help her get his mommy and daddy back together. She's turning that kid into a manipulator at such a young age that Ben is going to have some MAJOR therapy bills when the kid gets older.

Wednesday, July 7, 1999
Meg overhears that Ben took Maria to their house in the desert to be alone. She panics, of course. But Tim and Tess have been nusy plotting, so she really has nothing to worry about. Then Maria comes home unexpectedly and Tess panics. AJ tells Cole he wants to marry Olivia and raise Trey as his own. This is a bad, bad, bad idea. Olivia and Sean and Caitlin have a moment. Vanessa finds out Michael got his physical therapist certifiaction. Gregory plots against Cole and Annie.

Thursday, July 8, 1999
Gabi and Ricardo make love. A little soon, don't you think? Antonio burns the evidence and Carmen tells Maria that she's gonna protect her family from Gabi. Not much different with them. Annie almost tells people about Trey's true paternity, but doesn't. She and Olivia fight. love those scenes. Casey gets Sara a dream catcher. Not much there either.

Friday, July 9, 1999
Meg goes to the casita to check things out and doesn't like what she sees. Ricardo and Gabi visit Ricardo, but Antonio has a piece of one of the pictures with him. All is well, he hides it. But when Ricardo visits Carmen he finds the extra tape and watches it. IT IS ABOUT TIME. Sara tries to make shepards pie for Casey. I was craving it, but after looking at hers...

Quote of The Week:
"Hi my name is Bette Katzenkazarahi and yes, I can say that name."--the always quotable, wonderful Bette!

WEEK OF JULY 12, 1999

Monday, July 12, 1999
Ahhh, Glory Day. Well for some of us at least. Ricardo finally has the tape of Gabi and Antonio in his hands. And all he does is talk to himself about it! Come on Ricardo, stop stalling and watch it already! It's taken him MONTHS to get to this point.

Lil' Meg Cummings, on the other hand, takes ONE LOOK at the cottage (that Tim planted to make it LOOK like Ben and Maria did their THANG--but they DID NOT) and tears start brimming in her eyes. HELLOOOO? Why does it take Ricardo half a year to figure out the truth about his priestly brother and Gabi while Meg just ASSUMES the worst? Hey Girl from Kansas: I don't THINK SO!

And the Cummings sister have more than just hair problems. While Meg is crying her eyes out to herself (literally), Sara is busy being nice to Tim. The last Tim/Sara scene I recall was where they were squabbling about getting Meg and lying to Casey (the last four months of Tim/Sara scenes). But all of a sudden Sara has a change of heart? Since when did she become so trusting?...OF TIM!?

Meanwhile the Golden Boy (Casey) accidentally stumbles upon the latest Tim/Sara scene. And guess what, the truth comes out there too. But first I must endure Brad interrupting Casey. I couldn't help but tune out that conversation. All I recall is Casey mentioning something about his pizza and I started laughing.

Antonio and Gabi a rejoicing (ever so slowly) at the mission that the last piece of evidence will be destroyed. It's a very convenient piece of evidence: a blown up, close up black and white pic of the two (funny how their faces are extremely clear) frolicking in the cave in. Antonio decides to jinx the whole happy ending to the storyline by telling Gabi, "It's over, finally over." . . . I say jinx cause Ricardo is busy at Carmen's house trying to pound himself (like ramming his palm to his forehead over and over again) with the new found information that flashes across the TV screen.

AJ admits to Bette that he wants to marry Olivia and raise Trey as a family. Bette is confused (she's hiding her true feelings for him) but I must admit so am I. HELLOOOOO AJ! You're gonna trade Leo and Cole for Gag Me Girl and a baby that half the town wants to claim? What's a matter? Olivia been handing you that scotch a little too early again?

Casey returns to his "paradise" and banishes Sara from it after he learns the truth from her. He mutters something about "piece of mind." But I think he messed up and meant to say he wanted "piece of Meg"....(which comes later this week)......

Looks like it's nearing the end of the show and Meg is still standing in the cottage, talking and bawling to herself. Something about losing Ben and saying goodbye to him. It sounded all the same to me.

Carmen comes to the mission and genuinely makes peace with Gabi in front of Antonio. We are forced to sit through flashback after flashback of this past storyline, all of which poor Ricardo is wearing the same thing! Guess we weren't too clever in choosing those scenes now were we?

Tuesday, July 13, 1999
Meg is still in that cottage, trying to tell herself over and over again that Ben and Maria slept together (basically it was exactly the same as yesterday's show). Somehow, she magically discovers that she can just stop. Turn around. And walk out the door. Wow Meg, you should try that more often.

Gabi and Antonio doubt Carmen's desire to "kiss and make up". They throw question after question demanding to know why the sudden change of heart. Gee, it's not like GABI and ANTONIO were the ones that slept together....oh wait. They were. . . and the proof is in front of Ricardo's face. He stares at the TV screen and watches his brother tell his fiancée that he loves her. How heartbreaking!

Sean decides he's going to have his own storyline by writing in his journal. Mostly a lotta cheese and some sugar stuff too. But tell the factory to hold off on the processed foods. All this manufactured emotions is bad for my health!

Speaking of manufactured, Amy is busy trying to get her love poison I mean potion (whoops, must have been a typo) to Sean.

Things are all the much better for the Torres clan (or so they think) cause Gabi and Antonio accept Carmen's sincerity while Maria thanks Carmen as well. Little do they know . . . that crazy Det. Torres is at a mission, slamming doors and muttering to himself.

And my favorite part of the day, three words: Casey dumps Sara. Three more words: like yesterday's garbage. Whoo hoo, the fireworks have just begun...

Wednesday, July 14, 1999
Meg (who apparently is still running away from her thoughts of Ben and Maria's love making session) bumps into Casey (who just finished kicking out her sister) at the pier. And yes, the flood gates have been open. Both of them are sad and lonely and depressed. And yes they feel betrayed (but it's not so bad since they ARE two very good looking and VERY vulnerable people) so naturally....they comfort each other (very passionately I might add).

Ricardo is finished with his door slamming sessions in the mission and behind door number three thousand five hundred and seventy nine, he finally sees Gabi and Antonio. BUT, unfortunately for us, the writers have seemed to device yet ANOTHER ploy for avoiding the greatly awaited confrontation: Ricardo collapses on the floor.

Ben goes tearing around town (actually just to Surf Central) looking for Meg but he finds the "Other One" instead. Here's their conversation in a "Week on the Beach Style": Sara: Boo hoo, Casey doesn't want me. Ben: Yes that's sad. But where's Meg. Sara: Boo HOO CASEY DOESN'T WANT ME. Ben: Yes, THAT'S NICE. But where's [add sigh here] Meg.

Back at the pier, Casey tells Meg that Sara has been lying to him for months. Hey, if anything is a lie, it's the chemistry that he had with Sara. And then Meg (all tearfully and somewhat irrelevantly) replies that Ben slept with Maria (how this connects to Casey and Sara's breakup still eludes me).

Thursday, July 15, 1999
I turned on the tube to find my eyes deceiving me: MEG AND CASEY KISSING! It was a very hot scene, complete with rain and emotion. And I guess Ben finally got out of that repetitive scene with Sara and witnesses the two kissing.

Gabi and Antonio cling onto each other as they hope for Ricardo's health. Gabi is in tears because she doesn't want Ricardo to die (shoulda thought of that BEFORE you bedded his brother) and she can't possibly think of the STRESS that has brought about this stroke. (Here I was thinking that Gabi was one of the most clever people on the beach, but I guess I was wrong).

Ben flashes back as he stands on the pier. It's mostly the saga of how he slowly loses Meg.

And Sara moves back home, crying yet again to her parents (though I tried really hard to see her tears but still no go).

While her brother is lying in the hospital, Maria decides she will parade around as a grape for the day, complete with purple eyeshadow. With Tess in all red, all they need is Annie in that green outfit and they can audition for the Fruit of the Loom girls. Maria talks to Tess about Ben's whereabouts and decides to follow him at the Deep.

An unconscious Ricardo imagines Antonio and Gabi making out while his brain waves and blood pressure rise.

Benjy asks Tim to do what I've been wanting him to do ever since I saw him, which was to "Go away please."

Maria becomes Ms. Tough Lady with Ben and demands to let her "help" him....I can see it now. Maria quits her job (wait a minute, what IS her job?) to become a professional shrink (wait a minute, has she lost her mind? Oh yes, she has).

Meg and Casey have their share of a cutsie scene back at Casey's place. Who thickened the syrup with that one?

Friday, July 16, 1999
Madame Carmen goes at it and sees danger in her Tarot cards. Why doesn't she ever figure out WHAT the danger/upcoming event is?

At the hospital Ricardo awakes to see the faces of the Betrayers staring down at him (Antonio and Gabi). I guess it angers him so much that he decides to go back to being unconscious.

Sara stumbles upon her sister and her now ex-boyfriend at Surf Central and gets all emotional. Sara, will you please show some tears?

Gabi accuses Carmen of causing her stroke and then cries her love to him as he lies their like a cucumber in the produce aisle.

Ben and Maria are discussing Meg (so besides that and Benjy, what else do these two talk about?). Ben tells Maria that he and Meg are finished. Maria sees this grape I mean great opportunity to give Ben a hug. Somehow the message got a little confused in the delivery cause the hug soon turned into a little romp around Ben's office for the two of them. And of course, we must see Meg walking in and spotting the two in the "aftermath".

WEEK OF JULY 19, 1999

Monday, July 19, 1999
We see Annie calling some hot shot lawyer to make sure that Gregory's will leaves her as its sole heir and not "that little brat" Trey.

And of course we must see Meg stumble upon Maria and Ben in bed at the Deep. You would think that Maria knows what she's doing, dressing up as a grape and seducing Ben and all. Yeah Maria, once Meg walks in just keep your mouth hanging open and protest with all the gasping air that you can.

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum (Antonio and Gabi) are floating up that river in Egypt since they believe Ricardo's paralysis is brought on upon his anger. HELLOOOOO, besides your desperate and long drawn out attempt to keep your secret from him which he found out anyway, why ELSE would he be lying helpless in a hospital bed?

Meg finally tells Ben she never wants to see him again. Oh wait, she's told him that before but she still doesn't listen to herself. Meg, how many times must I tell you: LISTEN to yourself. STOP seeing Ben. And now I approve once I see Meg crying her eyes out (yes, AGAIN) to who else but Golden Boy himself, Casey.

While Ricardo is lying in bed, the poor thing has to sit through this horrible fantasy of his brother and fiancee making out over and over and over and over and over and...well you know how fantasies and flashbacks go.

Gregory dons on something from the janitor's closet and takes some money out of the safe.

Back at the fantasies from you know where, Ricardo reaches for Gabi's neck and begins to squeeze the life out of her. And I must admit, he has her in a pretty good choke hold.

Tuesday, July 20, 1999
It's Gregory's memorial service but forget him! I see Cole, who is looking quite hot as usual, and whom I haven't seen in a long time. Reunited and it feels so good....

It's a gross thing to witness AJ telling Olivia that he can help raise Trey and that she doesn't have to be by herself. Remember when we saw this a couple of times ago? Only he wasn't talking to Olivia, he was talking to Cole and Bette. AJ could have just recorded himself and said, "Hey listen to this," and played that whole shpeel to an audience (besides me).

Gabi, please, I though Ricardo sent that message pretty good. But NOOOOO, after he strangles you, all you have to do is ask Tyus WHY Ricardo would do such a thing. Gee Gabi, I dunno, could it be that HE KNOWS!?! I wanted to throw my remote at her folks since she was being that dense. Oh but the good doctor (who is getting a lot of air time at Ricardo's health mishaps) tells Gabi that Ricardo's reaction is an INVOLUNTARY response of stroke victims. Who gave Tyus his MD?

Forget the janitor's outfit, Gregory goes for broke as he slips on a monk's robe and eavesdrops on his own memorial service. Caitlin said something about her father (I was too busy trying to remember why Caitlin is important again) but Monk Boy had to go and knock over a candle stand to make everyone look. Okay, everyone say it,"GOOD ONE, GREGORY."

Wednesday, July 21, 1999
Meanwhile, while we got Monk Boy (or is that monk-EY boy) causing commotion at the mission, Maria tells Ben to make sure things with Meg are okay. Okay wait, Maria, since you just bedded BEN, and basically got what you wanted, now you want him to leave you and go after MEG? HELLLOOOO? You been drinking the same stuff Gabi and Antonio have?

Sara, who still hasn't found a comb, blames Tim of breaking up her and Casey. And what would give you such an idea, Sara?

Amy grabs Brad for more scheming with the love potion (I thought we killed this storyline, but I guess I must sit through it).

Cole demands to know what is going on and questions the Monkey Boy for answers. But Antonio had to go make Cole look like a fool and tells him about the vow of silence monks must take for this retreat at the mission.

We see Seething Sara complaining to her parents (ONCE AGAIN) how Meg ruins everything and blah blah blah. It was getting close to one of those remote control throwing moments. Meg and Casey start to realize the feelings they have for each other (FINALLY).

Maria tells Annie that she and Ben made love. And Annie for some strange reason had to go rub it in Meg's face (I am still trying to figure out the logic in that).

Thursday, July 22, 1999
Amy has somehow taken fashion advice from Brad and taken a liking to the loud Hawaiian print in a form of a dress. She mumbles a way to get Sean to drink the love potion.

At the hospital, Ricardo is still paralyzed. I don't know why they showed us that scene. We all know that he will be unconscious until we start a letter writing campaign to bring him out of the hospital (the WWRC, We Want Ricardo Conscious campaign).

Daddy Hank comes to Sara's rescue and comforts her about her break up. But I am still awaiting to see tears in her eyes. Casey comes over to set things straight with Sara and "be honest" with her and Sara must had taken some sort of paralysis pill like Ricardo because she becomes all dumb and demads to know what feelings he has. HELLOOOO haven't you been paranoid about that ALL ALONG?! And then finally Sara tells Casey "Damn you," and we all get piece of mind.

Annie and Meg are screaming at each other at the beach house. I am still confused as to WHY this scene is relevant. Annie gets herself into a little situation when she rambles on about Maria and Ben and Benjy and KANSAS (how long has this family been here and they're STILL muttering about Kansas?) and all of a sudden Meg has had it and BOOM she backhands Annie. It was all very rewarding for those of us who love to hate Annie (Sara Buxton is soooo delicious).

Amy has changed, but sadly, I must inform you it is into ANOTHER Hawaiian print outfit. She gets the brilliant idea to stall Sean and "turns her ankle" so that she may lounge around on the Richards' couch.

Three things that make me sick: Tim and Tess and a champagne bottle. I still don't get why Tim works with this woman. He's like her little servant. She says fetch and he asks "What do I fetch ma'am." If I was a cop, I'd pull him over and make him watch his scenes for punishment.

Back at the hospital, Antonio looks like he's tired of this storyline as I am since he stares at Gabi with this sort of cross eyed glare.

Amy tries to seduce Sean after he drinks the potion. But once he sees Emily, he decides he'll go spend the afternoon with her.

Friday, July 23, 1999
Gabi decides she will have Antonio marry her and Ricardo while he is still lying in an unconscious state. Michael and Vanessa, who have been so heavily involved in other matters (a trip to the moon perhaps) are in the hospital and a shocked to find out about Ricardo's stroke (which, I must remind everyone, has been going own for about two weeks now).

Ben and Meg have one of those moments where they're about to tell each other that they saw the other with Casey/Maria but luckily for us, before any more cheese can explode onto my TV screen, Casey sticks his own little cheese head in and interuppts.

Ben apologizes to Maria for using her in bed. And Maria must be on still hasn't come down from that high since she tells been it's okay and that she enjoyed what they had. I won't even ask the question.

Meg can't seem to tell Casey her feelings for him (why I ask, why must I sit through yet ANOTHER drawn out and horrific storyline).

Sean has the love potion's affects kicking in, and Amy decides to lock Emily in the lifeguard tower, but being Amy, she locks herself in the tower WITH Emily. And Sean runs home to find himself wanting Annie.

WEEK OF JULY 26, 1999

Monday, July 26, 1999
So, Annie wants to look at the will and AJ finds out. Olivia, who was with Trey at the Java Web, decides the will should be read today.Sean feels lust for Annie, whom he hates. I found that entertaining, especially her asking him if he had a fever and feeling his forehead. It wasn't very Annie-like. So, he goes to look for Emily, has he done anything different in the past day? Gabi tells Ricardo he wants to marry her and Antonio will perform the ceremony in the hospital. Aw, how romantic. He refuses. Smart boy, he's finally caught on. I must say that I love his fantasies of Gabi and Antonio. I think I like Ricardo best as a vegetable. But Carmen sees trouble ... again ... from her Tarot cards ... again. Oh, yeah, Amy and Emily talk while they get stuck in the lifeguard station. Nothing much there except Emily gets the award for most naive. She thinks Amy is her friend!

Tuesday, July 27, 1999
So, Amy goes and cries and Sean goes to comfort her. What's with the Rudolph Valentinio poster for "The Shiek" (A really old silent film star who died at 26, like a diCaprio of then and realy old move). I love it and I want it. So they boink. Yes, I use a cheap word because it was a cheap act. Although, gotta love that they played They Did a Bad, Bad Thing. Perfect!Gabi thinks Ricardo won't marry her, because he doesn't want to be a burden. He reminds me of a dog. I always wanted to know what my dog is thinkning and I'm sure that's how everyone around Ricardo feels. They begin to read the will, which is on video.

Wednesday, July 28, 1999
So, that was Amy's first time. Didn't figure that one out.Ricardo tells Gabi that he's going to marry her. I really am enjoying him more when he's like this. Maria is maid of honor. The ceremony begins. Ricardo wants revenge.Gregory leaves Olivia a lot of liquor and Cole the name of every woman with jewelry in New York. He leaves everything to Caitlin only if she leaves Cole. The couple prepare to be flat broke. Annie jumps around the office thinking she's rich.

Thursday, July 29, 1999
Brad finds out the potion worked, but isn't a happy camper. Sean isn't happy either, 'cause he loves Emily and tries to confess all to her.

Friday, July 30, 1999
Gregory leaves Annie nothing but a library full of self help books. Olivia finds out that Trey gets everythng and it all is in the hands of Olivia, his guardian. Annie and Livvy fight and it's wonderful. I really wish they'd all stop being so mean to Annie. Even if she did make their lives Hell for so long. Annie says that Trey isn't Greggy-poos legal heir. Now we're getting somewhere!!!! Gabi and Ricardo marry - not much there.
