From ABC:
ALL ABOUT TRAYLOR HOWARD
Where is she from? Orlando, Florida.
Where did she go to college? Florida
State.
Does she have any brothers or
sisters? She has two brothers, one
older and one younger. She thinks
that’s why she’s always been
comfortable around guys. She says she
was a real tomboy growing up, but prissy, too. There were some
people in the neighborhood who were afraid to let their
daughters play at Traylor’s house because she and her brothers
were so rough. She says she used to break a lot of bones (her
own, not other people’s). And she was really into tennis.
What was she like in high school? She went to the same
private school her entire life, kindergarten through 12th grade.
They didn’t have to wear uniforms, but there was a strict dress
code. She was into tennis, playing in tournaments both in junior
high and high school. She was also a cheerleader in high
school, but only for one year. She says she was a terrible
cheerleader, but she just liked wearing the uniform. Because
she was so little, she was always the one they put on top of
their pyramids. She says her teachers didn’t like her because
she was always getting into trouble.
How does her family feel about her career? They are very
supportive. Her mother was even an actress, who was always
trying to get Traylor to study acting, but she wasn’t interested.
How long has she been in Los Angeles? Eight years. She
likes it now, but at first it was hard because she really missed her family (who are all in Florida).
How did she end up in L.A.? She came out for a summer and
ended up staying.
Does she have any pets? She has an English Springer
Spaniel named Harry. (Ryan calls him Harold) He loves to play with Ryan’s dog, Jobey.
Are most of her friends girls or guys? Both. But she has
always had really good guy friends, and her best friend is a guy.
Is she dating anyone? Not anyone special. And, by the way,
she hates dating. It makes her very nervous, even "freaks her
out" a little. She says she doesn’t know why that is, but her
entire personality changes when she’s dating. She becomes five
years old. It reminds her of when she first started to go on
auditions.
What’s her ideal day? Her favorite day is Sunday. An ideal
day would be spent going to church in the morning, then taking
a drive up the coast to a friend’s house and doing yoga, which
she loves.
What’s the most romantic thing she’s ever done? Went to
Color Me Mine and made bowls (that said "I love you") for her
special someone, then came home and served him breakfast in
bed—-in the bowls, of course.
What’s on her CD player? The "Kundun" soundtrack and Sarah
McLachlan, whom she listens to every night before going to
bed. McLachlan’s music "speaks to my soul," says Traylor,
"just like Elton John’s."
What’s the last book she read? "The Alchemist" and
"Conversations With God."
What’s the worst job she ever had? When she first came to
L.A., she worked in a PR firm as an intern. She worked really
hard, all the time, and then when it came time to hire someone
for the job, guess who was fired? It was Traylor’s first
experience with rejection and it really devastated her. She even
moved back to Florida for a time afterward. She says because
of that experience, though, she doesn’t have any trouble with
rejection in her acting career—-she has learned not to take it
personally.
What did she do before "Two Guys" and "Boston
Common"? A lot of commercials. She worked in the medium
for four years, making over 50 of them. She said it was hard
work and good experience, but it was very unstable. The one we
might most remember? She played a make-up artist in a Milky
Way Lite spot. She also did a lot of Japanese ads with people
like Michael J. Fox and Rob Lowe.
What does she do in her spare time? She loves yoga and
tennis, and she’s very "into Scrabble right now." (She also adds
that she’s very competitive!)
