IN THE COMPANY OF MEN
Traylor Howard, the Girl on ABC's Two Guys A Girl and a
Pizza Place (Wednesdays, 9:30 P.M./ET), is used to being the token
female. Growing up in Orlando, she was a reluctant tomboy. "I was all
girl, but I'd have to play ball with my two brothers," she says. "They
pretty much lived to scare the hell out of me." In addition to Pizza
Place, she stars opposite Norm Macdonald, Chevy Chase, and Chris
Farley in the feature "Dirty Work," opening June 5. "I'm the chick in
the flick," she says. "It's pretty much me and a bunch of prostitutes."
After earning a degree in communications and English from Florida
State University, Howard, 32 next month, moved to Los Angeles. Unhappy
working in advertising and PR, she parlayed experience making
commercials to a role on NBC's Boston Common. Luck continues to
be on her side with her new sitcom, which showed encouraging ratings as
a midseason replacement this spring. "I think this character suits me,"
she says. "I like how feisty Sharon is. She's one of those people that
say what's on her mind. I love those kinds of people, you really know
where you stand with them."
And where does she stand on the possibility of on-screen romance
with the Two Guys? "Pete [Richard Ruccolo] and Berg [Ryan Reynolds] are
really attractive, and I think if I could combine them, they probably
would make the perfect guy," she admits. "But of course, I've tried
that. It doesn't work,"
