From ABC:
Two Guys, a Girl and a Summer Hiatus
It's that time of year again when the sun's a little brighter, the weather's a little hotter, and the stars come out to
play. Actors who make their livings on the small screen are lucky enough to have time off from hectic shooting
schedules (Hollywood types call it "hiatus") to stretch their wings, go on auditions, take vacations, or just relax.
We caught up with the three young stars of "Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place" recently and asked them about
their summer plans...
Richard Ruccolo (the Guy known as "Pete") is taking some well-deserved time off, just lying back and relaxing
and taking it easy. He enjoyed a leisurely trip to Santa Barbara recently, and also went to Disneyland (which he
says is truly the Happiest Place on Earth). His favorite rides, you ask? He loves Space Mountain, the Haunted
House and especially those spinning Tea Cups. Rich has also been reading scripts and auditioning (don't
worry, girls, his first priority is still "Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place"!). And he's looking forward to going
home for a while (that's New Jersey, for those of you who missed his repeated references to it in our AOL chat).
Regarding his auditioning, Rich shares a bit of advice that someone gave him years ago: A good actor knows
he doesn't have to play every character he reads. Just because a character is interesting or different doesn't
necessarily mean he has to audition for all of them. Wise words from such a young guy.
Ryan Reynolds (the Guy known as "Berg") is currently sporting (are you ready for this?) black hair and a nipple
ring for the role he's shooting in "Coming Soon," co-starring Cybill Shepherd, Gabby Hoffman, Peter
Bogdanovich and Spalding Grey. Ryan plays a high school rock star, which he says, fulfills a dream of his
(doesn't everybody secretly want to be a rock star?). He just finished shooting a music video for the movie in
New York. He lip-synched during the shooting, but (are you holding onto your seats?) you'll actually hear him
sing the song in the movie. The guys in the movie band are in a band in real-life and gave him a bit of advice for
how to make the most out of his video performance: just sing to the one who got away. So that's what he did.
(As if we can believe there's a girl who would get away!) In addition to "Coming Soon," he has a movie already
in the can that's opening this fall-"The Alarmist," with David Arquette, Kate Capshaw and Stanley Tucci.
Upcoming projects include "Snollygoster," written by his close friend Johnny Galecki, who also appears with
Ryan in the film. Ryan shoots an MTV special this Thursday with other up-and-coming stars like Sarah Michelle
Gellar. With all this work, does Ryan get any time to rest? The Canada native did visit Vancouver recently for a
few days, visiting family and doing talk shows. And he's home in L.A. for a week right now, gardening, putting an
outdoor fireplace in his back yard, and dog walking. Ryan's going to spend some quality time with his dog while
he's home and is even taking him up to the mountains at Big Bear, CA, so they can trek through the snow.
Traylor Howard (the Girl known as "Sharon") is celebrating the opening of her movie "Dirty Work," which opens
May 15. Directed by Bob Saget, the movie also stars Chevy Chase, Norm McDonald, Artie Lang and Chris
Farley (in his last movie role). Traylor also appears in an independent film, "Confessions of a Sexist Pig," (have
to say we love the title!) which doesn't have a release date as of yet, but fans should check local movie listings
throughout the summer. Lest you're feeling worried that all work and no play are going to leave this Girl feeling
blue, you'll be happy to know Traylor has also planned a get-away to Maui for one of her favorite things-- a yoga
retreat. She says she'll be doing nothing but yoga, morning, afternoon, and evening, and she can't wait.
