FROM ULTIMATE TV:
2 guys, a girl, a pizza place and no laughs
The title is Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place ( out of four,
ABC, Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT). Can you guess what this one's
about? Yep, two guys (Berg, played by Ryan Reynolds, and Pete, by
Richard Ruccolo), a girl (Traylor Howard) and the pizza place in
Boston where the guys work.
In this twist on the singles theme, the guys are graduate students (Berg
is studying philosophy; Pete's in architecture) who live in the same
apartment building as Sharon, who sells chemicals. ("One more client
for me, one less species of bird.") David Ogden Stiers (M*A*S*H) is a
pizza customer who imitates characters from the movies.
In this episode, we learn that Berg is supplementing his income by
participating in medical experiments, often experiencing wacky side
effects that give Reynolds a chance to imitate Jim Carrey. But we're not
supposed to notice.
One experiment involves an asthma inhaler filled with truth serum.
Under its influence, he tells Pete's girlfriend a secret that makes her so
mad she breaks up with poor Pete. Oh, no.
