About $62,000 was raised for TreePeople at the July 28 premiere of David Zucker's film "BASEketball" at Universal CityWalk. The sold-out crowd of more than 1,700 included the movie's stars, Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Jenny McCarthy. The benefit was presented by Zucker, creator, writer and director of the film, who has been a supporter and board member of TreePeople for more than 10 years. The environmental organization promotes personal responsibility for the urban forest. Previous premieres of Zucker films, including "The Naked Gun" and "The Naked Gun 2 1/2," have also benefited TreePeople, which was founded by then-17-year-old Andy Lipkis in 1973. He has served as president ever since.
