A Day at the Links
by Alison

Pacey quietly crept into Dawson's room shortly after 5 am on Saturday morning. The sun was beginning to peek through the curtains, but Dawson slept peacefully. Pacey snuck up to Dawson's bed and instead of just waking him up, he decided to have a little fun. Assuming a falsetto voice, Pacey played Joey.

"Dawson, wake up so that I can feel your hot body on mine..." Pacey said in a high voice.

Dawson's eyes snapped open and he rolled over expecting to see Joey. Instead, he was blessed with viewing the grinning face of Pacey Witter.

"Pacey!! What the hell are you doing here? Where's Joey?" Dawson asked, still half asleep.

"I'm here because we are teeing off in less than an hour and Joey is at home asleep."

"What do you mean teeing off?"

"Dawson, today is Saturday. We decided to play golf on Saturday. Ring any bells?"

"Yeah, I remember golf. I don't remember 5 am being included in the package though."

"I wanted to hit the links before it got too hot and crowded. Get up!"

Pacey dragged Dawson out of bed and into the shower. While Dawson was in the shower, Pacey looked in the mirror, admiring his preppy image. He was wearing khakis, a red polo shirt, golf shoes and a white baseball cap backwards that said "Bruins" in blue letters. He looked like a classy teenage golfer. Dawson on the other hand, didn't quite pull the look off. Dressed in green, plaid pants and a white sweater, his look appeared to fit a 40 year old more than a 15 year old.

"Dawson, my man, what kind of statement are you trying to make with those pants? Are you going for the my-mommy-picked-out-my-clothes look?" Pacey said this as he was rummaging through Dawson's closet searching for something more appropriate. He found a pair of khaki shorts and a white polo shirt and tossed them to Dawson. While Dawson changed Pacey grabbed Dawson's golf clubs out of the hall closet and put them in his car.

A few minutes later they were on their way to the Capeside Colonial Golf Course. Neither Dawson or Pacey was very good at golf, their expertise leaned more towards miniature golf rather than professional golf. Neither was eager to admit their inadequacies, so they just played their best. On the first tee, Dawson sliced the ball into the rough fairway. This wasn't that much of a problem because Pacey's ball only went about 10 yards in front of the tee itself. They just laughed it off, and continued playing pathetically. Cherishing their "guys day out" neither one mentioned their girlfriends. Abby and Joey were out shopping for the day in Providence.

After spending an hour on the first hole, they decided to quit playing by the rules. They abandoned the theory of using golf clubs. They simply picked up the ball and threw it as far as they could. After a few holes of doing this they heard a few snickers behind them. Turning around they saw two girls smiling at them. One of them was a tall blonde with striking brown eyes. She was dressed in a short blue dress and was leaning on a club. The girl next to her was shorter, with red hair. She was wearing black pants and a green tanktop. Dawson and Pacey instantly forgot about their girlfriends.

Dawson was attracted to the blonde, while Pacey preferred the redhead. The girls seemed somewhat familiar to them, but neither could place it. Pacey introduced himself and Dawson to the girls who told them that they were named Kim and Nicole. Seeing as how none of them could play golf real well, they just walked the rest of the course talking. Pacey flirted with Kim the readhead a lot, and couldn't get over the feeling that he knew her. She reminded him so much of Abby, his girlfriend. But Kim had a southern accent and red hair. Pacey dismissed it and just continued with his flirting. Little did he know, that he was, in fact, flirting with Abby Morgan. While this continued, Dawson and Nicole were discussing film theory a few feet ahead of them. Nicole pretended that she despised Speilberg films, and that Clueless was the greatest movie ever. Dawson was apalled by these proposterous notions and spent a good hour trying to convince her otherwise.

'I usually only have banter this good with Joey. Who is this girl and why do I feel that I know her?' Dawson thought repeatedly.

Joey was amused by how angry she was making Dawson. He was in awe of how someone could enjoy a movie such as Clueless so much. She loved doing this to him. It was much better than shopping. She and Abby had come up with their plan to spy on the guys earlier in the week, but they never imagined it would work out so perfectly. After a few more hours the guys couldn't stand it any longer. Dawson asked Nicole if he knew her from somewhere because he had a distinct feeling that he did. Instead of responding to him she simply kissed him, in a way that made him realize exactly who she was. Pacey took the more subtle approach. He searched for signs of knowing her. Finally, he found one. On her right hand, she wore a thin diamond tennis bracelet bearing one charm on the end. The charm simply said "AM". Instead of telling her directly that he knew who she was, Pacey played innocent. After a few more minutes he casually said "do you have any ecstasy? I'm all out." and kissed her. They finished their non-existant day of golf and went home.

Sorry Lisa, i know it wasn't supposed to involve romance of any kind, but you know me, i'm a romantic to the end. Sorry, forgive me!
