*AUTHOR'S NOTE* Joey's going out with Dawson & Jen's going out with
Pacey, although they aren't ever in the story, they are mentioned.
"Mall Adventures" By Tamber
"Jen, this is a great idea." Joey said as she drove down the highway in
her brand new 1998, dark green, Pontiac Grand Am SE (Sorry, my dream car).
"And, it gives me a chance to break in my birthday gift."
"How'd Bessie and Bodie afford this?" Jen referring to the car.
"According to Bess, they have been saving up for it for a while now. But
I don't care. I love this car." Joey was all smiles.
"That's great. You are doing better than I am. I'm 16 and don't even
have my license."
She paused and smiled. " Look at it this way, Pacey doesn't have to give
us rides now." They both laughed.
"Jen, there is a mall coming up. You want to stop?" Joey asked.
"Yeah. I have some extra cash and I need to get some things." Jen said
eyeing Joey. "I know you got a ton of cash for your birthday. How much money
did you get?"
"Well,... "Joey smiled. "I used most of my money saved from working to
get insurance for my car. So I didn't have to go into my birthday money."
"Joey, how much?" Jen asked.
"Over 500 dollars." Joey laughed at Jen's expression.
"Damn. I wish I was that lucky. How? Is the only question I have."
"My grandparents. They spoil the heck out of me." Joey explained.
"Ahhh. Now the big question. What did Dawson get for you?" Jen asked
with a playful grin.
Joey blushed. "Well, I'm surprised you haven't seen it." Joey showed Jen
her left hand.
"Joey!! He proposed!! I can't believe it!!! Look at the size of that
stone!!"
"Jen, calm down. Yeah, he proposed. But the wedding will be several
years down the road."
"Great. I can bearly get Pacey to say 'I love you' sometimes. And now
you are engaged."
"Jen, it will be OK. Besides we are here at the mall. Anything you want
to look at?"
"Actually, yeah. Something like Victoria Secret's." Jen said.
"So, you and Pacey?" Joey asked.
"Yeah. I thought I would get him something new. Well, actually me
something new." Jen said.
"Well, I need to go, too. You know, like, a surprise for the ring." Joey
said.
"Yeah, I understand." Jen said.
They walked by Fredrick's of Hollywood.
"Let's go look." Joey said.
They walked in and looked around. Jen saw something interesting and
showed Joey.
"Now, if Pacey wanted me to wear this. I would tell him just to imagine
it."
They both laughed.
"Jo, let's go. This store is not my style and I'm pretty sure this isn't
yours either."
"Your right, Jen. Let's go to Victoria Secret's."
They walked into the store and looked around.
"Now I can handle this stuff." Jen joked.
They found what they were looking for: Joey got a matching bra and panty
set that was blue and another one that was green. Jen got one that was red.
They went to the desk to pay for it. On the way out, they saw someone that
looked familiar.
Jen asked. "Isn't that...."
"Grant Bodean. Hey. How are you doing?" He was holding a bra up to his
chest.
He looked really embarrassed. "You don't have to explain, we understand.
But you know what, Grant? That would look better in black on you." Joey said walking
out of the store. Jen was laughing.
"Wait until we tell Dawson and Pacey." Jen said still laughing.
"Until then, do you want an ice cream? I think it will be a great way to
end a great day."
