One day, a new kid came to Lawndale High. His name was Jason. He was in Daria's history class. Daria decided to talk to him.
"Hi. I'm Daria. You must be the new kid," she said.
Jason was a bit shy. "Yeah. That's me. I'm Jason. nice to meet you," he said.
"Nice to meet you to," Daria said.
"This school any good? I mean the marching band?" Jason asked.
"The worst in the state. They can't even play a note without sounding good. The school board banned them from the football games," she said.
"That sounds really bad," Jason said with a look of disgust on his face. "I better quit while I still can. In my old school, we had the eighth best band in the state. We rocked. Our last show had a television show theme. We played themes from old T.V. shows."
"That sounds pretty cool. Was it good?" Daria asked.
With a proud face, Jason said, "It put us in 8th place. We played at an NFL field, where the 'Detroit Lions' play. That some cool astroturff."
"Astroturff?" Daria asked, confused.
"Yeah. Artificial grass. The best I have ever marched on," Jason replied. Just then, the bell rang, and class started. "I'll talk to you after class. See you then."
During the history class, the teacher put Jason in the seat next o Daria. "Smooth. We get to sit next to each other during class," Jason whispered to Daria.
"Really. Smooth," Daria replied, sarcastically.
Later, after class, Jason came up to Daria. "Hey, Daria, How you doing?" he asked.
"Fine. I was throughly stimulated by the teachers long lecture about the attack at Bunker Hill. I feel I connected with the soldiers thoughts being, `I don't want to be here,`" she replied, sarcastically.
"I take it your into sarcasm. That's cool. Before I forget, I was hoping you could give me a tour of the school later," Jason asked.
"That's sounds like a good idea. How about after the next class? Where is your locker?" Daria asked.
Jason told her where his locker is. "That's over by mine. This is really becoming a big coincidence," Daria said.
"Really. Next thing, we'll have some more classes together," Jason said.
"Well, I have to get to my next class soon. Where is your next class? I'll walk you there," Daria offered. Jason told her. "Well, at least we don't have that class together."
"Thanks for the offer. Let's go, before it get's to late," Jason said.
"That sounds like a good idea," Daria said. Then they walked out to there next classes.
Later, after that class, Daria met up with Jason at their lockers. "Hello Daria. You were going to give me a tour of the school?" Jason asked.
"Yes, I did. Ready?" she asked.
"Yep," Jason said.
"This is one of the many halls in this school. You won't find many different ones. On each of the hall sides are some lockers. Nothing different about them. And on to the cafeteria for lunch. just another typical high school. Care to sit with me and my friend Jane at lunch?" Daria said, after giving him the tour of the school.
"Sure. Just a typical high school," Jason said, while walking with Daria to the cafeteria. "Are there any other cool people in this school? I mean besides you and me?" Jason asked.
"Nope. It's just you, me, Jane, and her brother, Trent," She said.
"Wow. Are the people just idiots, or are they to Goth., or dumb, or something?" Jason asked, stupefied.
"Borderline idiots and dumb," Daria said, as they entered the cafeteria.
"How about the food? Have people died after eating the food? Or is it digestible?" Jason asked, as he sat down at the table.
Another girl came up with a tray of food. "Digestible, but unidentifiable," she said.
"You must be Jane," Jason said.
"And you are?" the girl asked.
Daria stepped in. "Jane, meet Jason. He's new here," She said.
"Nice to meet you. You might want to get your lunch now, before the good stuff runs out," Jane said.
"That's alright. I can survive without lunch today," he said. "Where'd Daria go?"
"She probably took my advice. So, where are you from?" Jane asked.
"Michigan. Detroit area," Jason replied.
After swallowing her food, Jane asked, "Why did you move here?"
"The company my parents both work for relocated us to a new factory outside of town. So they had to pack us up, and make me leave my few friends at home. On the up note, this move gave me the chance to start over," Jason said.
Daria was back, with a small portion on her tray. "Too late with the food. The school board insists that this crap will stimulate our learning. my grades have dramatically changed because of this food. My grades improved greatly. I have been getting straight A's now."
"So, Jason was just telling me that he moved from Detroit," Jane told Daria.
"Really. Company relocation?" Daria asked. Suddenly, a slutty looking girl in a pink shirt came up.
"Daria, all the boys hanging around me are asking who this guy is with you. He looks kinda cute," she said.
"Thank you," I said.
"Jason, I want you to meet my sister, Quinn. Quinn, meet Jason," Daria said. "He's new here."
She looked at me and said, "I wonder if he will ask me out?"
I looked at her and asked her, "How insulted would you be if I said 'never?'"
"Very," she replied.
Looking like I was thinking, I said, "Never." Quinn stormed off in disgust.
"That was good. I have never seen a boy do that to her before. I'm impressed," Daria said.
"Me too. You're pretty cool," Jane said.
Looking impressed, I said, "Thanks. I thought she was to clueless and dumb. I would only ask a girl either as smart as me, or smarter. And if she is cute. Quinn looks like she is dumber than me."
Just then, the bell rang. "Class time. Where are you headed to next?" Jane asked Jason. "Do you need some to walk you to your next class?"
"No thanks. I think I can find it on my own. Shouldn't be hard to find it," Jason told her. "Talk to you two later. Bye."
After Jason left, Jane said, "I like your new friend. And he is pretty cute to."
"I agree. He is good looking," Daria said.
