Q: Do you miss living in New York or has L.A. captured your heart?
A: "Both."
Q: What kind of car do you drive?
A: "A Jeep Cherokee"
Q: You mentioned you love football and basketball, but what kind of sports do you like to participate in? (i.e. roller blading, biking, tennis, etc...)?
A: "I don't participate in sports much. The occasional softball game. I like biking. Ive never been inclined towards sports. I was the geek that did fencing and gymnastics and danced."
Q: You have a degree in Independent Technical Theatre, so do you want to, or do you have any plans to direct something in the near future?
A: "I've directed a lot of theatre on the east coast. I'll direct again but I'm putting it off for now. I'll get back to it later. I'm not quite ready for the hub-ub it may cause. Unlike my film work, my theatre style can be very...radical."
Q: Was it very difficult going to college full-time and maintaining an acting career as well? How did you manage to do both at the same time?
A: "I'd already been doing it for 9 years before I went to college so I was prepared. It was a lot of hard work. The exact details of which could well take up volumes. :)"
Q: What made you decide to get into acting?
A: "It's a long a complex story but ultimately, we learned I had a natural aptitude for what acting entails. In time these skills it could have led to many other paths but show business was the quickest, most fun way to ease the financial burden on my family and create a better life for us and my little brother (who had just been born). By the time I was a teenager, my dedication to my family, my art and my God had deepened and intensified."
Q: How do you like being on TBAA?
A: "I love it. I get a good feeling walking away at the end of the day. Like I accomplished something purposeful beyond selling a product."
Q: Any new movies on the way?
A: "Learning to Swim, a short film due out in 99. I don't know what venue it will be released in so I don't know how accessible it will be. I play a boy who lost his little brother in a pool accident and is later called on to rescue his bully tormentor from the same fate.
That Summer in LA. An Independant film due out next year. I pretty much play a loser. Midway through the film Im dying in the back seat of a car. So this one actually turned out kind of interesting. It was my fun project but dying a slow agonizing death for 40 minutes turned into quite the experience. Its one of the leads and probably the most tragic. My relatives won't watch it, but it was good for me.
Many more TBAA episodes. They're just spread out more so you'll find more towards the end of the season."
Q: What time were you born? In what city?
A: "2:20 EST but I don't know if it's AM or PM. Manhattan."
Q: How do you like Los Angeles?
A: "I love it. Different kind of character than NY."
Q: Have you personally had any angel experiences?
A: "Yep."
Q: What's your favorite holiday? Lucky number?
A: "Thanksgiving and 3,5,7,9 I think. I never liked numbers."
Q: What's a typical work day like for you?
A: "There is no typical work day. Logistically though 10-14hrs/day, 5-6 day week. Long bouts of madness-inducing waiting followed by the sudden frantic pursuit of warping reality upon command. Then cut and do it all again. In the end, everything is subject to change without prior notice so you never really know what you're in for. It's our sick version of work for fun."
Q: Do you prefer to keep a low profile? If so, why?
A: "No actually. I'm an admitted glory hound. I like the media. It allows for greater communication. I am a private person however and can be quite reclusive. I think the answer to this is respect. When the public respects the artist, they're generally given their space. Paul Newman proves this well. I think I'll follow that path for a bit."
Q: Will Rafael get more airtime in the future? I read somewhere where you will be a regular member of the cast.
A: "He will get more airtime but He will not be a regular. He's special. ;)"
Q: Did you really play the guitar and sing in the TBAA episode "The Pact" w/ the camp for HIV+ girls?
A: "Yep."
