SIGRID THORNTON AT THE LOGIES

1999 will go down as the year a sleepy seaside community called Pearl Bay pipped the gritty streets of Kings Cross.  And it was a widely applauded triumph.

SeaChange was a surprise winner for most outstanding drama series as the award was widely tipped to go to Wildside, and Pearl Bay leading lady Sigrid Thornton couldn't be happier.  "We're thrilled and delighted" she said of the ABC win.  "We're on the home stretch now with the filming of the second series, in the final paddock, so we're all tired but happy."

It's been more than a decade since Sigrid was last on stage collecting a Logie.  Clearly she has lost none of the appeal that made her a favourite with the public all those years ago in the mini-series All The Rivers Run.

"The Logies are an opportunity for people to honour one another, and it's always a privilege to receive such an honour," she said.  "I always look forward to coming, and to be part of a programme that wins is even better."
