Michelle Williams was born and raised as a small town girl in Kalispell,
Mont. with her younger sister Paige. Later, she moved
to San Diego with her family when she was 10 years old.
She became involved in community theater productions and was soon
travelling to Los Angles for professional auditions.
At age 14, Williams made her big-screen debut in the 1994 family film
"Lassie", and was soon cast as the young alien in the film "Species". Most
recently, Michelle was seen in the dramatic feature "A Thousand Acres",
starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jason Robardsand and
Jessica Lange. She has also starred in the television movie "A Mother's
Justice". Michelle took accelerated classes and graduated
from high school when she was 16.
In her free time, 17-year-old Michelle is an avid reader with her current
authors being Hermann Hesse, Dostoyevsky and Kurt Vonnegut Jr. She also
enjoys boxing, which feeds into her early childhood fantasy of becoming the
first female heavyweight champion of the world. This year the actress from
Los Angeles to Wilmington, North Carolina, the production location for the
series. As Williams says "It's quite a change from Los Angles. It's
quite a change from Los Angeles. It's beautiful and a nice pace for awhile,
but at first it was a strange pace from the city and traffic. Having the
experience of moving from a big city to a small town does make it easier to
relate to Jen, however".

On school: "I was a total nerd. People really underestimate how tough
high school can be for kids. There's pressure from all sides: You have to
get good grades and look and act a certain way to fit in, and everyone
thinks you need a boyfriend."
On her dream date: "I'd love to hit the prom with my girlfriends. What

Jen has just moved to Capeside from New York City, and it living with her
grandmother. She was forced to leave by her parents, who wanted her to
settle down in Capeside. She immeadately captures Dawson's eye, who soon
discovers all of the secrets about her past.
